ChevyMan23
1 of the big kickers, was Warner Bros. signing with Blu-Ray. And the assload of money Sony threw out there to Warner, Toshiba, all that. Sony bought their win. When Blu-Ray made its debut, it was j-u-n-k. Rotting discs, loss of info, etc.. I havent heard of any new problems, but I guess it doesnt matter. They "won".

brobradh77
Where'd you find a BR player THAT cheap!?!? Circuit City had a dsiplay model on sale. $225 so since it was an out of the box deal I payed $50 for the warranty. Circuit City has always been good with wheeling and dealing on prices with me. I can't believe we're talking about porn formats. I know..thats what i was thinking...lol

SilveradoEsEs
Should i get the 80G ps3 or the cheaper one. Just an FYI: I just did a bunch of research and ended up buying the 80 gig console. I read that the 40 gig console is not backward compatible with previous playstation games. The 80 gig has about a 70-80% probability of playing the previous versions games. The 40 gig does not have the chipset that allows for this backward compatibility.

Not only that but the Ps3's also have ability to decode and play newly incripted disc's(that change continuosly),while current BR only players cannot, you have to contact sony and wait for the incripted disc to arive by mail. 1080p needs the tv to be 1080p,the player to be 1080p,and the disc to be 1080p to achieve what i call "Unreal theatrical movies" almost like those old daytime soaps, everything so phone-E.Besides We will probably never see 1080p brocasted, look how long its taking to get 1080i that we still dont have. Its all just a way for us consumers to spend more money on a product designed soly around pirating, with overscaling the film product to unreal visabilty.
