GEAR M UP
With my new motor I will be red-lining in the 7,000 RPM area, and our current tach only hits 6,000. Will our tach bottom out at a certain point??????? I really don’t want to add a tach, but what should I do..........
zippy
just let it bury the tach. the shift points will be set by the computer anyway.
marc_w
7K?! Good god! I get nervous shifting at 6K.
styleandspeed
Nothing sounds as beautiful as a big pushrod motor spinning to 7k I honestly would buy a small tach and find a place to put it. Zippy is right about the computer controlling it anyway, but that might be a good thing to be able to see all the time.

blackhawk
I believe MNC5 posted a video months back of his truck accelerating and spinning all for tires and his TAC pegged out and read beyond 7000rpm…

BenKey
Jeff, If you get to 7k rpms and your tranny doesn't grenade, please let us know. That's f-body shifting there. I've heard in the past that strokers don't like 6k+ rpms. I have mine shifting at 6200, but do plan on possible cutting it back. If I loose a little power from it, oh well. I think a new tranny will be in my near future........ What are all you guys with tons of hp/tq planning or have done to your tranny?
