  1. I agree, you gotta hold onto it for now, and if money gets too tight in the future then maybe sell it as last resort. I'm building a new house too and money is real tight right now, but if I got rid of mine I know I would be kicking myself.
  2. I'd say I got about 13 around town and 17 maybe 18 on the highway when I was stock. This last weekend though I got 11.6 for about 600 miles pullin a trailer total gas bill for the trip: $220 I can't hardle afford to take my four wheeler to the races anymore.
  3. I gotta go Black all the way, big PITA to keep clean but looks bad @ss when shined up. Is there any place to find the actual number of each color there was built? From my experience I don't know if I have ever seen a silver one in person and very few blue ones. But I've see a few red and black ones around once in a while.
  4. Thanks for the help! Guess I'll just use my K&N cleaning kit too, I figured it would be basically the same process as teh K&N but just wanted to be sure.
  5. I've had my Volant on my truck for about 9 months now with about 9000 miles on it and I was thinkin about how to clean it. Does anybody have a process that they use to clean Volant filters? Could I just use the same stuff as for a k&n filter cause I've got all the cleaning stuff for that for my quads filter? I realize this would probably turn it a shade of red if I spray it with the oil but since you can't see it anyways, I think having it clean would be more important.
  6. Yeah I've never been a fan of the brow either.
  7. LOL I sure hope it hasn't come to that yet!
  8. Yeah I pay less for insurance now with a beater then I did with just the truck on there. I think mine is because the beater is listed as my primary driver. Other then that I find myself skipping out on a lot more day trips that I would have normally taken even at last summers prices.
  9. Its not something that I would ever do in my truck but that thing does look pretty bad @ss slidin sideways down that gravel road.
  10. Man 1.5 increase, I gotta get me a catback I guess. Overall I'm probably at around 250 to 300 a month in gas for the truck, DD car, and the quads. Gonna get worse soon though cause right now it's only about 1.5 miles to work, in a little over a month I'm moving about 25-30 miles away so that number should go up quite a bit.
  11. I had read that is where they where most likely going to unveil it but its nice to know for sure now. I'll be there for sure it will be less than an hour away from me.
  12. Hey Avon who is your guy in Indy, I am looking in to having some stuff PC'd for my truck and fourwheeler and I am just south of Indy. Does he do anything or just smaller stuff?
  13. Pic of the truck is what it was for the last 8 months. Pic of fourwheeler is of me ridin this last weekend so I just put that on yesterday.
  14. Man that is awesome I have wanted to try diving like that for a long time.
  15. First car I drove was an 84 Mercury Cougar that my dad got for like $200, and it came with two engines that didn't run. So after a couple hundred more I had a fun little car to beat on, I took that thing through so many ditches and drifting in the norhtern MN winters was awesome. First vehicle I bought was and 89 Jeep Wrangler with a 258 CI I6, I def. learned alot about rebuilding engines and manual trannies when I had that thing.
  16. I'm trying to figure out what all is necessary for me to upgrade my TC, so far I am planning on going with a Yank 2600 stall and upgrading my trans cooler at the same time. But I was wondering if getting my PCM retuned would be necessary when I install the convertor? What would be the difference between having it tuned for the TC and not? So far my tranny mods include a shift kit, vette servo, and custom tune.
  17. Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I guess for now I'll just have to try a few different launch techniques and see if that can help. I'm sure it will come around maybe it's time I start looking into a convertor and possible get either HPtuners or EFI live and a wideband sensor so that I can do some of the fine tuning my self. I guess it just means that I have that much more time to gain when I get into some real mods. Anyways thanks for the help guys.
  18. I don't have my slips with me right now but my last run of the night had the following numbers 60' 2.26 sec 1/8 9.75 sec 1/4 15.09 sec MPH 92.xx MPH The only fuel I ever put in it is either shell v-power (93 octane) and BP Premium (93 octane). I guess I'll just have to take the money I was saving for the 2/2 drop, stainless steel brake lines, tinted windows, and tonneau cover, and put it towards some long tubes and maybe a torque convertor. If that doesn't get me into the 14s then I think I might have to get a new vehicle. JK!
  19. I have a volant intake, and at the time I had just under 1/4 tank of gas. I don't have a tonneau but I did have the tailgate up, I don't know if that makes a difference. My elevation is bout 750 ft. To launch I tried a couple different ways, first stalled it up too about 2000 then just mashed the gas to the floor and dropped the brake at the same time when the light changed. Then I also tried only stalling till about 1500-1600 and then hitting the gas to the floor slightly before dropping the brake. Either way my 60 fts seems pretty consistant at about 2.25 within a couple hundreths.
  20. Well tonight was the first time I have been to the track since I installed my shift kit vette servo, 160* tstat, and got a zippy tune for all those mods. Last fall when I was there I only had my volant intake installed and I ran a best of 15.3 when it was 80* outside which was kinda disappointing at the time too. With my new mods I figured for sure I would be in the high 14s atleast, well I was wrong, took 3 passes and was pretty consistant at 15.1 seconds. It was about 75* tonight at the track, but I don't think that should have been hurting my times that bad. Overall the truck seems to run fine, it has about 43xxx miles on it and has been very well maintained, so I can't imagine that it's anything mechanical that is limiting it. And I don't think I am launching that terrible, my 60 fts are all about 2.25 roughly. It is just very disappointing to see all these stock SSS running the same times or better then I am after Intake, shift kit, vette servo, tstat, and tune. I'm about at the point of giving up on trying to make it fast and just take the mod money and through it into my XC race quad. Sorry if it seems like I'm complaining but if anybody has ideas let me know
  21. I don't know if it was a bad driver or what but last fall I watched a QuadCab SRT10 make four passes with the fastest one being a 13.9 so I would believe that the RC trucks would be quite a bit faster then that.
