  1. Thats true about the BB deal. I didnt think about that- coming from the 4cyl world- Ill look into a cheaper turbo. I was planning on using some schedule 40 bends from here- http://www.mcmaster.com/ - and that will only come out to like $200, plus some more for flanges and stuff. And for the crossover pipe I can use an old section from my friends truck and hack up my cats and make something, and the downpipe is just easy to make. I spent like $150 in materials for the last one I made
  2. I saw the Trick turbo kit and it looks decent at best. The BOV and wastegate look like ebay specials, the turbo is ok but its not ball bearing, theres no more than $500 worth of stainless steel piping in there, and the worst part is the manifold design- it looks like it would flow like crap. I dont want to piss anyone off that has this kit- Im sure it would be a great setup- but imagine how much better it would be with a better flowing manifold, better turbo, an intercooler and real parts that dont come from china. I emailed them to see about getting just the manifold, crossover pipe, and downpipe and they wanted $2400 for it which I think is ridiculous... Does anyone know if anybode else sells a turbo manifold for a 6.0L??? I doubt it- Ive been searching everywhere Ill probably end up making it myself. The crossover pipe and DP and easy. Im gonna do the piping for the intercooler too. The only thing Im really not sure about is how to tune it- what kind of tuning options do I have? I want to get it dynotuned, but how am I supposed to hook up a laptop to it while its getting tuned to change the fuel and ignition settings? It was easy with my honda, I just plugged in a USB and did it. I dont really want to get a tune sent to me cause Ive done that before and it didnt work very good at all. Heres what Im planning: Turbonetics GT-K 650 turbo- $1600 intercooler/piping- $600 SS piping for crossover/manifold/DP- $500 BOV/Wastegate- $400 oil lines- $100 misc.- $500 tuning- $500 ??? fuel pump+ injectors- ??? So Ill probably end up spending about $5400, and I will have all the stuff I want, it will be more reliable, faster, look better, and best of all I can say I did it myself. Doesnt that sound like a better deal?
  3. I did some research on the shims. I guess I might have to get some but Ill wait too see if the truck rides ok without em. Im used to riding in cars with stiff suspensions
  4. If you bought the tires new from a shop take it back to them and make em do a road force test with thier balancing machine. If it is out of spec the machine will tell them and they should replace it for free cause the factory warranties the tires and I dont think they would lose any money on the deal. Ive had to do it (-warranty tires) a few times at work. If they wanna be dicks about it they will try not to give you one though cause my old boss was a tightass and never wanted to give people warrantied tires...
  5. I havent been on any of the forums in a while. I havent even had time to mess with it for months... All my tools are at work so I cant really do anything. All I need to do to get it running is hook up the heater hoses in the back, put on the oil pan- and I need to get a weird looking banjo bolt for the PS pump that I cant seem to find anywhere. After that its all body work...
  6. Alright cool thanks. I got some energy suspension sway bar bushings too so I should be in good shape with my suspension. Ill look into the shims, can I do an alignment without them? Or are they just if the vibration is too bad???
  7. I just ordered my sway bar bushings and endlinks, thanks for the part #'s- I would have been too lazy to figure it out myself...
  8. I got everything now I think- spindles for the front, shackles and hangers for the back, and shocks for front and back. Is there anything else I need or should get? torsion keys or leaf springs???
  9. yeah its 14x1.5- did you find the black lug nuts yet? I looked but couldnt find em anywhere. I want some if you dont mind sharing where you got them. My chrome ones look stupid with my black wheels
  10. If the gear moves in and out you broke the shaft to the PS pump. You need a whole new pump you cant get just the shaft part. Its not that hard to put on if you have the right tools
  11. I put on my flowmaster and corsa tip last night. It sounds good, kinda loud in the lower rpms but it quiets down over like 3K. Im blacking out my taillights tonight, they're in the garage drying right now. Ill get some pics of everything when I can
  12. I ordered some spindles too. Does anyone know where to get the urethane bushings for the sway bar???
  13. I bought those shocks^^^ and I bought some shackles. So now I just need front shocks, some hangers for the rear and I think Im gonna buy the spindles for the front...
  14. ^^you do know you need a whole seperate unit to make the onstar/temp/compass to work right? just makin sure PM sent
  15. Ive been wanting some too cause the ones in my ss are from a regular silverado, I work at a dealership so Ill tell you the part # when I get some if you want.
  16. or you could make some extra money and sell em to me???
  17. I dont care about the company I just dont like the idea of having a turbo mounted under the car- its wet down there, the oil pump will have to work way harder, its a lot more piping and fab work, it wont spool as fast, the kit will weigh a bunch more....... Just about the only positive thing I can think of is that it will keep under hood temps down. Im gonna get the Nelson kit for $4K and make my own pipes and add an intercooler and make some heat shiels for the engine bay. No big deal. Im just not really a supercharger guy coming from owning 2 turbod cars.
  18. Looks great, Im gonna be smokin mine soon too. I might try what you did with the headlights too if I dont just take the reflectors out altogether. What did he do just spray them black???
  19. Im about to lower my truck and I just thought Id post this to see if anyone had any extra stuff they wanted to sell. I think I want to go with a 3-4" drop in the back and 2-3" up front. I found some belltech spindles for $225, and shackles are fairly cheap. I really need some hangers and shocks so let me know what you have for sale. Everthing as a kit would be nice... Thanks
  20. Damn now I feel bad. I didnt know how much they went for new. It looks sweet though
  21. Thanks, you should have seen my old civic- 320hp LS/vtec turbo. All blacked out of course
  22. My friend at work is a genius when it comes to GM trannys so thats covered. I dont plan on running a lot of boost but i will build the tranny extra strong to be safe. As far as the rust goes- we have this undercoating crap at work that is supposed to be better than the factory stuff so Im gonna spray that on the frame rust, and for the rest of it its gonna be rust remover and a wire wheel. Side note: I think GM has a longer warranty that covers "corrosion" (you have to call it corrosion cause "rust" isnt covered) so if your truck is kinda new and rusty look into that. I wanna say its 4yrs 40K miles but I forget... I was planning on getting a single header for the drivers side of the engine since the turbo goes on the pass. side, and running a 4" DP off of the turbo if theres room, 3" is fine for the other side.
  23. This was a trade in at the dealership I work at, I got it about a month ago. Im an apprentice mechanic now so Im still learning stuff but Im getting the hang of it- Ive always been a 4cyl turbo guy, I still kinda am too... On to the truck- its an 03 AWD with 63K on the dial, its from Illinois so theres a bunch of rust under it but that will be taken care of very soon. No major repairs listed in the report, but I bought the GMPP insurance deal to be safe. It came with these rear air helper springs on the leafs which I am selling so I can lower it, check em out --link to thread. So far Ive installed a 5pc billet grille which I painted black, amber DRLs, 8000K HIDs, 15% on the sides and 35% on the winshield, I just put these wheels on last week- American Racing Black Trench 20x8.5". Im gonna save up for a while cause I dont want to go crazy like Ive done with my other cars in the past. I dont need this to be really fast- thats what my 240sx is for, so I think Im gonna stop at a Nelson Performance turbo kit, electric fan conversion, full 4" exhaust, and a few other things. Maybe a flush mount bed cover and an AVIC N2 DVD/nav for inside... I do need help deciding on a lowering kit too so any input would be appreciated. I want it to be almost slammed but not ride like a complete POS. Heres some pics I just snapped in my driveway- One question- heres a pic of my seats, both of them are moved as far back as they will go with the electric switch- but the passenger one stops at like 7" more towards the front than the driver seat. Is anyone elses like that? It pisses me off cause Im OCD when it comes to my vehicles. Ill get a whole new seat frame assembly if I have to cause I cant stand this. Heres my 240sx- its not quite ready for the street yet buts its gonna have some balls- black top SR20 with top mount SC61 @ 17psi... Thanks for lookin
  24. oops, thanks- im an idiot. Oh well I dont care Ill still sell everything for $200 since I already gave that price. I found my camera and I will go take pics now and post them tonight if I can.
