  1. Welcome. Where are you from?
  2. Masshole...Lol Welcome to the site
  3. I'll hopefully make at least one or two more trips this year. I'll try and give a little more notice when I'm going up next time.
  4. If you can find colored bulbs, or at least bulb covers, there is no reason that wouldn't work. They'd have to ne tiny though.
  5. There are a few other Nice SSS's and a couple TBSS's up in my part of the state. I would think there would be at least a couple other local members on here. Guess I'll have to do some recruitin'
  6. I'll mark myself down as a maybe for this one. I'll keep posted and see a little closer to the event if I'll be able to make it. Also, on 9/12 there is going to be a pretty big get together at Jackson's Mill. It is being put on by the WV's unofficial state automotive forum. You all are welcome to come up to that and check it out too. Shoot me a PM if you're interrested in that site or event.
  7. Yeah, that screwdriver was a little shabby. I Left my good ones in the garage and that one was already outside by the truck, so I just grabbed it. It took less time to do that and have it completely out than it would have taken to walk to the garage to get the pretty ones. I'll manage with the tools I have, but if you want to take up a collection for a Magnacharger... I'll gladly accept!!!
  8. The Seek and Volume lights were out on my SSS when I bought it. The actual function still worked fine on both, but being a little bit of a perfectionist, it just looked unbalanced at night without the lights glowing and it drove me nuts. I came searching here for the correct bulb size only to find that pretty well the only option was to replace the control. I had to fix the steering wheel lights in my Trans Am a while back, so I figured this couldn't be that much different. Turns out it wasn't, so I thought I'd share. I hate to see anyone here spend that much for a new control when it usually isn't necessary. On to the process. As far as tools, really all you need is the following: * a small flat head screwdriver (a butter knife will work too) * a soldering iron + a little solder * something small to cut the wires to remove the old bulbs (I used finger nail clippers, lol) * a 50 mA 12 v pin lamp (I used part #272-1154 from Radio Shack) #1 Removal of the Control. First of all, it isn't necessary to remove the steering wheel in order to remove the controls. All you do is simply pop the controller out of the housing with a flat head or a knife. You do need to be careful as there is a plug in the back of the control. It is pretty short, so if you have larger hands, you may need to use the knife or screwdriver to push the release button on the plug. The good news is it is facing the easier side to get to. #2 Disassembly Now that the control is out of the steering wheel, it will need to be completely taken apart. To do this, you will notice 4 small clips on the back side. If you face back of the control, there will be grooves on a couple of the clip areas so that you can fit the screw driver/knife in to pry the white plastic backing out. With this out, you will then be able to slide out the control panel that the bulbs are connected to. Be sure to keep the buttons facing down for this part as there are 4 red pegs that set loose between the buttons and the control panel. After the control board is removed, the blue light covers can be taken off to expose the bulbs. to remove the bulb/bubs, you will snip the soldered wire that connects them to the board. Be sure to only cut the two wires so nothing else is damaged. When the bulbs have been disconnected, remove the plastic boxes that were below the bulbs and set them and the old bulbs aside as you should no longer need them. #3 Replacing the Bulb The next thing to do is hook up the new bulbs. All you do for this is solder the ends of the new bulb onto the portion of the board that the old bulbs were connected. #4 Reassembly When everything looks to be back together on the board, place the blue covering back over the bulbs and place the board back into the main housing. Next, Press the white plastic backing back onto the control until it snaps back into place. Finally, hook the plug in the control housing back up to the control and press the control back into the steering wheel until it snaps into place. Hopefully, at this point, all the lights work again. The bulbs I used are a perfect match to the stocks. The color and brightness seem to be spot on. The part number is listed above. This job took me about 10 minutes total to do, so it should be very easy for anyone. There are always potentially unforseen circumstances though, so do this at your own risk. If you have any questions feel free to let me know. Hope this helps!
  9. Thanks man! I know it was short notice on the post. Hope to see some of you out.
  10. Just seeing if anyone else is going to make it out to PRP for the test n tune tomorrow. I'll be there...just haven't decided yet if I'm gonna take the T/A or get a baseline in the SSS. Should be fun either way. I'll try and take some pics.
  11. That is terrible. Hopefully it will end up back with you soon...Fishing/camping gear and all.
  12. Awesome! I'm glad to see there are other WV members on here. There are a few SS's in the Clarksburg area where I live that I see from time to time. There is a red one, two blue ones and one pretty beat up black one. Mine's the first Silver Birch I've seen in person... around here anyway. I really appreciate everyone's warm welcome. Here are a few shots I snagged after taking the bug guard and the plate bracket off.
  13. Here is my first. Drew it up myself.

    Sale

How about the price for shipping the tonneau to 26301?
  15. I've been signed up in here now for a while, just to look things uo. I finally got my SS this weekend, so I figured I'd take a minute and say hi to everyone. The only pics I've got at the moment are the file pics from the dealer in Ohio where I got the truck. I've taken off the bug guard and the license plate came off as soon as I got back home, so I'll get some better pics up later. Enjoy! And here is my other toy. 98 Trans Am.
  16. There is alot of good info on ls1.com too
  17. That's great man. I really appreciate your help.
  18. Yeah man, if you can help me out, I'd really appreciate it.
  19. I was wondering if anyone out there has unlimited Carfax checks and could run this VIN for me. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. Levi 04' SSS 2GCEK19N741264198
  20. Red is what I was going for. I figure yours would be a little rich for my blood though. They had agreed to take $22K there plus I would be trading the Titan. It would be awesome if you would match that, but I know better. Best of luck though.
  21. I had to wait until today so I could call my insurance to make sure I wouldn't go up much with the SS badge. Never know with them. I called them around 9 this morning and they said the ins. would actually go down like $.09 per month. I was pretty well set on going over and picking it up after hearing that. I stopped at the dealer at about 11 or so and wouldn't you know it. The truck was out front and they were switching up some dude's tags who got there first. The car gods must be against me having an SSS, because that's #2 that's slipped through my fingers. The dude that beat me to it seemed cool enough though, so at least you all have another good member of your community. Maybe I'll eventually get my own, but now's not my time. Thanks to those of you who answered my previous questions. Later. P.S If the guy that picked up an SSS from Harry Green today ends up on here, this is for you. If you get a case of buyers remorse, send me a PM, because I want that frickin' truck. If not, enjoy, cause it's a nice one.
  22. Very Nice. If I can get the payments down and get into this thing I'll know what to have the wifey get me for x-mas
