  1. Mine started when I was 1 yr old ... really. Its my dad's fault. Well actually my mom's. They were driving thru town one Sunday, went by the dealership (which was closed) and they had this Rally Green '68 Camaro which was in the window. Mom said "That's a pretty car." Dad went the next day and bought it. When I started driving it was mine. Bought my first Vette in 2001 a simple 1990 model. My current Vette is pretty rare 1 of 18 made with the options mine has. Its a '96 LT4 6 speed with the Z51 suspension. Its the Collector Edition with the red interior. Bought the SS in Sept of last year. Here's me on the '68 Camaro just after dad brought it home.
  2. Yea that's it. I forgot about Taz driving. Jr. is pretty funny too. "yada yada yada"
  3. Mine is really old, but still my Favorite. Can't even remember what it was for, but its got Dale Earnhart in the passenger seat Yelling "GO! GO! GO! The big pedal on the right, you'll never get there like that." Anyone remember that one? Don't have access to youtube, so I can't look it up.
  4. That's about the best analogy of the BCS that I've seen. The whole BCS rating system is a bunch of crap!
  5. The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light, I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight. My wife was asleep, her head on my chest, My daughter beside me, angelic in rest. Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white, Transforming the yard to a winter delight. The sparkling lights in the tree I believe, Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve. My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep, Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep. In perfect contentment, or so it would seem, So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream. The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near, But I opened my eyes when it tickled my ear. Perhaps just a cough, I didn't quite know, Then the sure sound of footsteps outside in the snow. My soul gave a tremble, I struggled to hear, And I crept to the door just to see who was near. Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night, A lone figure stood, his face weary and tight. A soldier, I puzzled, some twenty years old, Perhaps a Marine, huddled here in the cold. Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled, Standing watch over me, and my wife and my child. 'What are you doing?' I asked without fear, 'Come in this moment, it's freezing out here! Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve, You should be at home on a cold Christmas Eve!' For barely a moment I saw his eyes shift, Away from the cold and the snow blown in drifts. To the window that danced with a warm fire's light Then he sighed and he said 'Its really all right, I'm out here by choice. I'm here every night.' 'It's my duty to stand at the front of the line, That separates you from the darkest of times. No one had to ask or beg or implore me, I'm proud to stand here like my fathers before me. My Gramps died at ' Pearl on a day in December,' Then he sighed, 'That's a Christmas 'Gram always remembers.' My dad stood his watch in the jungles of ' Nam ', And now it is my turn and so, here I am. I've not seen my own son in more than a while, But my wife sends me pictures, he's sure got her smile. Then he bent and he carefully pulled from his bag, The red, white, and blue... an American flag. I can live through the cold and the being alone, Away from my family, my house and my home. I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet, I can sleep in a foxhole with little to eat. I can carry the weight of killing another, Or lay down my life with my sister and brother... Who stand at the front against any and all, To ensure for all time that this flag will not fall.' ' So go back inside,' he said, 'harbor no fright, Your family is waiting and I'll be all right.' 'But isn't there something I can do, at the least, 'Give you money,' I asked, 'or prepare you a feast? It seems all too little for all that you've done, For being away from your wife and your son.' Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret, 'Just tell us you love us, and never forget. To fight for our rights back at home while we're gone, To stand your own watch, no matter how long. For when we come home, either standing or dead, To know you remember we fought and we bled. Is payment enough, and with that we will trust, That we mattered to you as you mattered to us.' Please remember all those Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines that will not be home this Christmas holiday. Freedom is not free. We appreciate your service. God bless and return home safely.
  6. Remove the headlight housing and check the bracket. Quite possible that the place where the lower headlight housing tab fits is cracked or broken. I had to replace the passenger side bracket because it was broken where the tab goes. Kinda tedious to replace, there are several 10mm blots and a few torx screws that secure it. The whole front grill has to come off to get to all the bolts/screws. I got a new bracket from the dealership for like $26.
  7. This is what is wrong with my passenger side window. I had to remove the inner door panel to reconnect the speaker and noticed that the frame was not properly aligned in the window. Haven't had a chance to fix the problem though. May try the foam also when I get around to fixing it.
  8. The wife and I went to my parents for Thanksgiving, stayed the whole week. One day the wife went to the store and when she came back she said there was a Black SS just up the street. Later we went out and it wasn't there. A couple of days later we were going out again and happened to see it. Pretty clean, drove by and looked but didn't stop and get out. Pretty sure it was an '03 or '04. This was near the Kia dealership in West Ashley (around the corner from the parents.) When we were leaving on Friday we saw a Blue SS at the Jedburg BP. Stopped in for refreshments and briefly talked to the guy. He pointed at my truck as I pulled in, I gave him the thumbs up, and said nice truck. I happened to be wearing my SSS.com polo shirt, which he noticed, he said nice truck and nice shirt. Like a dummy I totally forgot to mention the site. Happen to be anyone on here?
  9. I've only got 4 but it would be hard to find mine either. I found a really good place to mount them. My passenger side headlight support broke the mounting tab, when I took the front end apart to replace the support I found a nifty place, the radiator support has three mouning bolts on either side, my ballasts came with a bracket and guess what they fit perfectly. Two on each side near the ends of the radiator support on hte lower side.
  10. My bad ... I knew it was only two years just missed by one The HUD actually came out in '99 but wasn't available on the FRC (hardtop), it became available on the FRC in 2000.
  11. Yes 30mpg is pretty easy with the 6 speed. A buddy of mine recently took a trip from NC to MO running about 85 or so (some of it in the triple digits) in a 01 ZO6 and got right at 29mpg for the whole trip. BTW that car is for sale $22,5 I think. Very clean and its only got about 36K on the odometer.
  12. Yes the ZO6 only came with the FRC (fixed roof coupe.) GM says the power output of the LS6 was too much for a removable roof, too much body flex. It would cause the frame to warp. The ZO6 was modeled after the '98 - '99 models with the FRC. There was no ZO6 for '98 - '99 but you could get the FRC, which was a 6 speed and had the Z51 suspension, basically a baby ZO6.
  13. That just sux!!! I effin HATE theives! Sorry SOBs don't have any respect for other peoples things, and too durn sorry to have anything nice themselves. I dont know if I could have controlled myself had I caught someone doing that to my vehicles. I do like the idea of throwing a lit cigarette at them, or maybe a lit road flare! Just to shed a little light on the subject.
  14. UMMMM Its a supercharger, more specifically a Procharger, and a big azz one. Not a turbo.
  15. Come on over man. Its going on all week.
  16. Yea, Dedeaux Rd./Three Rivers area. There is another Red SS in the same area. Not to mention a Black Intimidator somewhere near Klein Rd.
  17. There is an awesome event happening this week here on the coast. It's the 12th annual Crusin' the Coast. Pretty cool. Its the first time Iv'e been home for this event in about three years. There are some 5000 Hotrods, classics, relics, ect. Just about anything can be seen, we like to go park by the beach with a cooler and lawn chairs and just watch the cars go by (I do some cruisin too but can't enter any of my vehicles for the actual events (Not old enough).) This year Dennis Gage (of My Classic Car) will be here doing a meet and greet signing autographs, ect. Also pretty cool is this years raffle car its a 1970 Chevelle SS 396 with a 4 speed. It will be given away sometime in Aug of 2009. Here is the official site.
  18. It seems to happen to me all the time. Just spent all day Saturday cleaning, claybaring, and waxing. Monday evening guess what .... RAIN!!! It hasn't rained in two weeks. I would bet that I could cure a drought, just go and wash the truck.
  19. AWESOME truck!!! Just got the issue of Truckin' with your truck in it. That is one sweet ride. Here is a link to the article. Whissle
  20. Not too far away. Wife is from there and her sis and brother in law live there.
  21. All my vehicles get warmed up before driving, even here in the south. I let the coolant get to 100 degrees and the oil temp guage just starts to move. Then I drive easy till I get to the highway, roughly 5 miles. Its all residential area with a 35 MPH limit till the highway anyway.
  22. Happy Birthday!!! Oh by the way its Constitution Day, on this day 221 years ago the Constitution was signed in Philly.
  23. I know how those people feel, after going thru Katrina. I hope their recovery goes quicker than ours has. I know there are several members here that are in the Houston area, hopefully they all came out alright.
