  1. I just got done buying my wife a Liquid Red Pontiac G8 GT to go along with my Arrival Blue SSS. Now all I need is a White Camaro SS and it will be a Patriotic all LS household.

The dealer is cleaning it up and will deliver to my house tonght.

Anyone have this car that can give me any info? Any issues, cheapest mods, is it the same mods as the SSS?

  2. Doug, maybe one of the ss trucks this weekend will have a header set up you can look at. Like Mike's truck if he is there, he has the dynotechs which the obx is the same thing. I went into emissions for some time with my headers and past the OBD II each time, untill they put the sniffer in the pipe. I aslo past an inspection by a state patrol officer and the emissions inspection.

Iknew the dyna's have actual cats in the ystem. The OBX is just a bulge to look like a cat. I just didn't want to put $1400 into headers.

  3. You need to go to your speakers and reconnect the bose wiring harness. The RCA's you have go to the amp. The amp has speaker wires going to each speaker that were installed with the amp. Hopefully the installer just left the factory wires dangling and didn't cut them off.

Why did you have to remove the aftermarket unit? IT might be easier to go to the pawn shop and find a cheap HU to get you by temporarily.

  4. Illinois emissions are OBDII scanned. They check for DTCs. If you are looking at a cat delete then just get a diablosport and block the O2S or get a custom tune and block them. It works

They will see if your truck has recently been cleared of codes and recent drive cycles and warm up cycles. Open loop functions or a O2S "Not supported" tune will not be seen and you will pass emissions.

Thanx. How do you know all this being from WY? Is it published somewhere, or are you in the field?

  5. This is great topic. For those that have the super close pix, could you take a wider angle shot so we can get a better idea of how they look on the truck? I'm looking for new rims for next spring and can't decide what style to go with. I don't want to put the exact rims on as someone else, but they may be close in style. Also, if anyone happened to weigh their combo that would be a nice addition for those of us concerned with weight.

  6. The SSS does not have a Y pipe, it is true dual all the way back to the muffler. Dynatechs bolts right up to the factory exhaust system, or any cat-back of your choice. I believe the OBX kit(old Dynatech design) is the same way....

I was looking at OBX, but was worried about emissions. I think here in IL we just do the OBDII check, can't remember for sure.

I just looked under the truck. I was thinking it had a Y-pipe because my Corsa cat back is 2into1. Do the OBX pipes have one bolt up flange and one slip fit? My set up is unique. I have the 2 pipes going into a small x pipe. One end goes to the muffler and one to an electric cut out.

  7. I've been reading old topics for an hour now. Can anyone tell me if there is a LT header out there that bolts right in. I don't want to spend 1300 on dyna's (complete set up)and from what I can tell the pacesetters need to have new y-pipe/cats fabbed up. Is it just the shorty's that bolt in? I don't want shorty's. I haven't examined my stock exhaust yet. Is it possible to cut down the stock y-pipe and just add a flange to bolt up the LT's?

  8. I'd take one or two. I like the emblem on the chest and just a big SS Silverado on the back. I know embroidery gets pricey when you go big, but I'd even be up for screenprinting so prices don't get too wild.

  9. Here is what I did with my seats. I dont have a bench seat anymore I have two normal seats in back. As you see still working on the truck.

    Hope this Helps

That's different. What did the back seats come out of? Post more pics as you get further along.

  10. Ha, the hardest part is being 6,000 miles away from it! I've literally been on this site for about 48 hours straight, just reading everything I can. I have nothing to do here besides think of that big, black, beautiful SS sitting in the driveway. All I have to do is make it 4 more weeks... And then I'll have to make sure I don't blow the engagement ring money on a supercharger!!!

Go with the supercharger. It will give you joy 100% of the time versus the ring which will only provide joy 10% of the time.(I'm going on 11 years) :jester:

Do yourself a favor. Save the money to do the engine stuff all at once. Do the headers, cam, lifters, and while you have it torn down that far, have the heads ported and possible intake. That way you're only tearing it down once.

    STAY SAFE OVER THERE!!!! :flag:
