  1. I believe I found a few 80s at a local junkyard as i will be buying 2. One 4wd for the truck to keep it AWD and a 2wd for my car when I swap for a LS2. However I need a few parts to make the swap work. Also if any of you have an 80 for sale let me knwo about it as I will take it into consideration. -4l80e -HD2 shift kit for 80 -aftermarket converter preferably round 3k -80 dipstick and wiring harness -1500HD crossmember -front driveshaft form a 4wd 1500 -flexplate -32 spline input shaft -rear driveshaft if anyone has one that is already made for a swap in a SS Well just let me know what you ahve guys and if Ive missed anythign please let me know.
  2. I could use the heater coils out of your driverside seat if its tact at all and I coould use ur heater blower motor.
  3. I think I found one on a local forum. Now jsut to find the rest of the parts.
  4. Well since it was mentioned I can use a crossmember from a 1500HD could I use the front driveshaft off one of thsoe trucks as well or does it have to be one from a regular 1500?
  5. I have a brand new set of transisters for those of you that want to add LED lights to your truck. You need these so you wont have the hyper flash on your turn signals. $20 shipped
  6. Hey guys first off since I havent posted a real post in a little while I want to say I added a few toys to my truck. I added a Long tru cool tranny cooler that does exactly what people have stated they do and keep the tranny about 40-60 degrees cooler especally at highway speeds. I also added a set of LS1 efans, TBSS intake with TB and X-link, and a set of 8.1 44lb injectors. The truck definately runs a lot better and picks up quicker with more torque. Now on to the thing for this section. I belive my tranny is starting to take a crap on me cuz every now and then it will hesitate on shifting from 1st to 2nd and the truck will take a nose dive then take off. It will also sometimes slip and the rpms go flying for a moment. At first I thougth it was just the TC going bad but realized its just the tranny starting to take a crap on me. I plan on changine fluid and filter to see if it helps any but I dobut it will. Ok so I did a search on here to see what all I would need to do a 4l80 swap and keep my truck AWD and I couldnt really come up with any clear answers to what all I would need to do so. I have a good mechanic that knows how to convert thest trucks as hes done a buddy of mines truck not too long ago. So if someone would chime in and tell me what all parts are needed to do this swap and also could tell me what size Id have to cut the driveshaft to or have another aluminum one made custom which I will probably do instead of cutting the stock one. I know I need the following- -4l80E' -wiring harness for the 80 -cross member from a 2500 -made to fit rear driveshaft to help out -HD2 shift kit -cervos So please let me know what else Is needed to do this swap. Thanx in advance guys, Chris
  7. Im initerested in the cam with gasket backage. Will that gasket set work with a TBSS intake and stock heads? If not then how much for jsut the cam?
  8. I think we are talking about 2 different areas of the driveshaft. This is rubbing towards the front of the driveshaft near the transmission back about 8inches give or take. The piece of frame goes up and bends around above the driveshaft.
  9. I think that is basically how he described it so that sounds right.
  10. Hey guys I noticed that on my driveshaft there is a rub mark on it towards the front of the truck. It looks like its rubbing above it where there is like part of the fram that curves over top of it in the tunnel area. Its not real deep on teh shaft or anythginb but you can see where its been rubbing recently as its a lil bit shiney. I believe its rubbing from wehre the truck has been lowers with a belltech 2/3 drop. It does touch as the truck as just sitting so it must be doing it when it hits dips and such in teh road. Is there a way to correct this or tell me why this is happenng. I dont want it to keep happening and my shaft eventually snap on me. I was thkning of maybe grinding so material of the above frame away so it dont rub as bad but didnt know if that woudl be a good idea or not. Any help here is appreciated, thanx.
  11. Hey guys I got my ls1 efans and tru cool tranny cooler installed a couple weeks ago. We were gonna do my TBSS intake but didnt as he said hed have to cut into the fuel rails on the intake. In order to keep from this he said Id have to get an after market regulator which I know are slightly high or get a fuel filter formn a 2000-2004 c5 vette which has a regulator built into it. Im not sure how he wil incorporate it into the fuel rail but hes done it before on other vehciles. I believe the TBSS intake is from a 06 model. I thougth these intakes were pretty much a direct bolt in with any modifications with teh exception of gettin a Xlink for the TB. Can someon help me out so I can be sure about this. Im not doubting my mechanic as I know he knows whats hes doing cuz hes our top chevy builder around here for LSX cars and pretty much anything really. Im just looking for some clearity, thanx.
  12. Ive noticed mine to slip just a tad but will quickly grab to go on dry pavement and my tires are in great shape. It will do it if I get on it real good but no problems to speak of.
  13. Installed my brackets and cooler last week. Looks and works great as I noticed about a 40-60 degree drop in temp on the gauge.
  14. I didnt figure they would work. So the TBSS cover is my only optinon then.
  15. I will be doing my TBSS intake swap here in the next week or so. I was wondering if I will still be able to use the engine covers still or would I have to get a TBSS engine cover and put over it. Or perhaps is there something else I can use to cover it. Let me know guys, thanx.
  16. I have a stainless grill bowtie. This is not one that has the SS in it as its a solid piece. I forgot I had it and came acrossed it in my parts building. Ill sell it for 20 bucks shipped.
  17. My gains on my amps are barely up as is so thats not the problem. I installed this setup with a good frined of mine who is a professional with this stuff. We just never had time to tackle the ground noise until now. Well the groudn loop isolators actually took care of the problem and it sounds fine. It didnt cut back on any signal coming throught the speakers and is sounds much clearer like its supposed to without that annoying whine. Its nice to be able to hear all the pings and tings like you should with sound quality.
  18. Evasion?? Well I picked up 2 of those PAC ground loop from the local audio shop. I will try to put them in and see if that works on the next decent non rainy day.
  19. My power wire is going down the drivers side and the 3 sets of RCA's and remote wire is going down the passenger side. I have to 3 sets cuz we rewired for new speakers so I have 2 amps. So in order for that Pac filter to work Id have to get 3 of them and theres not enough room to fit 3 of those in behind the head unit.
