No the oil does not have to be drained out of the trans for inspecting the clutch, it should have a little access cover to look in there, probably the throwout/pilot bearing is what you hear rattling around in there when you start the truck up.

Looks good and I'm jealous! But I think I would have done just the opposite, I would have run the factory gray wheels in the winter and the chrome in the summer. Chrome doesn't like the anti-icers and salt the road dept's put down here. But, either way you do it it still looks a thousand times better than my winter wheel/tire setup, I run some ugly a** factory Avalanche 17" take-offs and a good snowtire.
Thanks, ya I would have run my stock gray wheels but they were already mounted with summer tires and I bought the chrome ones off craigslist then had tires put on them so it just worked out that way. Also the Chrome on one of the wheels is starting to peel bad and the others have some defects where my gray ones are perfect. I also may consider having the chrome ones re-chromed or powder coated? Maybe this spring I will have my summer tires mounted to the chromes and just keep driving on them and have my winter tires put on the gray rims.
On a side note where did you get the mudflaps? I drive mine during winter to but want to add some mudflaps to help keep the ice and slush and shit from flying down the side of the truck.
The front mudflaps are just plastic cheapo ones that I put on just for winter and the rears are molded chevy ones. They look pretty good and keep lots of dirt and snow off the truck.

I've been driving my dad's 4runner because I havent put my Blizzaks on yet. How do you like your set up? How much and where did you get the tires? I think I saw you today; were you around the o'malley area or live anywhere near?
Ya I live off of hillside and o'malley so I'm going up and down it a lot, if you where driving the ss i would of seen you to lol. I got the tires from Alaska Tire Service, the tires are studded Hankook iPike RW11 275/55/20 and they work awesome so far haven't even had the anti-lock even come on or spin out when accelerating from a stop. I'm not sure exactly what they cost since I got them at a discounted price since I know the owner. Anyway great place to go in my opinion!

Since it started snowing the roads got really slick so I decided to switch to my new winter wheels and studded tires. I got some 20" Stock Chrome Wheels for my new winter tires. They look really sharp out side in the snow I'll get some pics of that tomorrow being that its dark out. I also added some mudflaps to keep the dirt off. Let me know what you guys think.

Looks good, I used some of that stuff to restore the dash pad on my C-10 and it came out like new. I always wondered what it would look like on carpet, since the back of the can mentions it I think.

If its the water pump going out I wouldn't recommend using stop leak as I have had some bad experiences with it. The water pump is really easy to change on these trucks. Also check your hoses going to the water pump as mine had a lose heater hose causing a leak. Good luck!

I really like the new Camaro's, a black SS Camaro whipped by me the other day and I also checked one out at the dealership. They are definitely pretty amazing looking cars!

I'm not 100% sure because I've never had a problem with my dash lights but I would try removing the gauge cluster and checking the connection to it, if that doesn't fix it the light bulbs may have burned out in the cluster, I have never replaced them but I assume they are replaceable by taking apart the gauges and replacing the bulbs. Good luck, maybe someone else can add more to this...

I also get the is it 2wd or 4wd question a lot, and I always say AWD. I got a reply once that was, "O I hate those all time 4 wheel drives, I just yank out the front drive shaft to make it 2wd." I just responded by saying ooo ya...I'll check in to that....

I would like your suggestion for this truck if you've got the time..
Year of truck: 2002 (retrofitted in 1969 C-10)
Model: Silverado 1500 (5.3L)
Trans:4L60E, stock
Converter: stock
Gear: 3.73 posi
Tires:275/60/15 rear, and 255/60/15 front.
List of current mods: Shorty Headers, 3" pipes into Y into flowmaster dual exhaust, aeromotive pressure regulator, 5.7l corvette intake, has a cold air intake kind of, no cats, all corvette front engine brackets. Thats all I can think of right now.
Possible future mods: Cam, electric cutout, tune
Goals for truck: Make it have a nice cammed idle but get some more power probably torque, and drivablilty.
Uses of the truck: Driving to car shows, driving on sunny days only in the summer (not to often), cruising around town and thats about it.
