  1. Yea, try disconnecting the battery for 10 mins (actually, my service adviser told me to touch the positive and neg cables together after they have been removed from the battery to discharge any 'latent current'). Then get in, close the door, turn all HVAC controls to OFF BEFORE you put the key in, then start the truck and DONT TOUCH ANYTHING for 1 minute. The doors should try to re-calibrate. I have heard it can take up to 10 drive cycles before this takes effect, so do it and then do your normal driving all day or whatever.

Im not buying the fuse box thing personally, but WTF do I know...

I'll have to try that next time it acts up, thanks for the link its got a good procedure as well. I can't turn it off before I turn on the key on because it is digital climate control. I heard on the digital ones when you do this procedure to make sure it is set to "AUTO" and that is how the digital one relearns. I'll keep you guys updated if it messes up again.

  2. You can try disconnecting the battery for a minute. Hook it back up and see what happens...without seeing the truck my guess would be a bad HVAC control head.

I tryed doing this yesterday and after disconnecting the battery for 5 mins I reconnected it. It still didn't work so I parked the truck. Got in it an hour later and all of the sudden everything was back to normal and working fine??? I have a feeling that its going to act up again though, you guys are probley more on track with the bad HVAC controler or blend door or something like that. I'll just wait till it acts up again to try and fix it.

  3. Just picked up 5 stock chrome wheels off craigslist with 4 de-studded winter tires mounted on them. Plan was going to be to restud the tires when I bought the rims, on further inspection once I bought them I relized they can't be restuded. :( So now I've got to buy new studded tires for them. Bought the 5 rims for $800 which might have been to much? Also the center caps were missing but their trying to find them at their house. I may just buy the caps off ebay. What do you guys think? At least I will have 20" rims winter and summer was going to put 16" rims and studded tires on there....Haha, Guess my real question is the 5th rim has a crack along the edge of it is about an inch long, it is mearly a spare now but is it even usable to mount a new tire onto? The tire thats on it has a cut in it and when I plug the cut I can put 30psi in it no problem and it holds air fine with the hole plugged.

  4. That's a new one on me. Although usually when a blend door actuator fails, one side will blow cold & the other side high heat!

In fact, was thinking your control head for the AC system would have been replaced...

Just picked it from the stealership, while they order the "fuse box" or whatever they think is wrong. So I get in start it up, now the passenger side A/C is stuck on full blast with recirculate mode, and the drivers side is blowing heat like no tomorrow. It's also now stuck blowing at you instead of defrost. When I try to turn recirculate off it flashes 3 times and then stays on, also changing the temperature settings does nothing. This is different than what it did before it used to be just be all heat or just all cold out of all vents. Any thoughts?

  5. I know there are quite a few posts about this already but this problem is a bit different...

I finally took the SS into the dealer on Wednesday because the Climate Control has been messing up lately (guess it never was changed from the A/C setting in Cali). It kept getting stuck on full blast heat or just a coldish warm air blowing out. Fan speeds still worked just as normal. The other thing that stopped working at the same time is the vent selections it also would get stuck on whatever it was on last. Anyway took it in Wednesday morning and they called today and said that the problem was the fuse box and it needs to be replaced so they are ordering a new one. Seems sort of weird I thought the problem would be with the Blend Door Actuators or something like that. Anyway have you guys ever heard of this happening? I'm going to pick it up tomorrow while the parts are on order.

  6. I believe that I have seen your truck on campus in the RH parking lot. I don't trust any of those young college kids with their beaters :wtf: . I park my 06 max in the lot next to the King Career Center far away from them. I'm only there on mondays and wednesdays.

Haha, ya I know what you mean with the kids in the parking lot, I could barley get in my truck the other day because an idiot parked way to close. I just don't want to walk that far to get to my classes....I'm their Mondays and weds in the morning and tues thurs in the afternoon. I'll keep an eye out for ya!

  7. I had this issue on my 95 Z-71

It was pretty random but it was buggin me, So I went to the local alt. shop and they gave me a rebuilt alt. to try before I buy :)

That was it in my case.

    :withstupid:

I also had this problem in my 2000 GMC Sierra at night you could see the interior lights and headlights flickering drove it for 2 months and then alternator finally stopped charging. I Replaced it and the problem went away in my case, not to this is your problem but it could very well be....

  8. I've had a couple different trucks with transmissions from Hansen's.....The transmissions from them seem to be good for the most part. The ones I have had rebuilt there are: 96 GMC Sierra(last owner had it rebuilt before i bought) , 97 Suburban (Rebuilt around 04-05), and my last truck 2000 GMC Sierra (Rebuilt around August 08). All of them cost around 2k! They held up pretty good but were costly in my opinion. The suburban transmission was built wrong and had to be taken back and they replaced the torque converter and some other stuff but still charged labor even though it was there problem?? The 2000 GMC got the passenger side seat cover screwed up but transmission was awesome. So maybe their work has gotten better. The 96 was fine drove it for two years, keep in mind these were stock rebuilds. Anyway good luck and hopefully my SS won't need a transmission anytime soon.... :uhoh:

Where did you get those floor mats? Did you have them made? There are some for sale on ebay that just say "ss" but don't have the silverado under the ss logo...

  10. yeah i'm around. dunno if the SSs i see around town are members or not. they just look at me when i wave. if you guys see me, honk or wave. i've got blacked out grilles and brake ducts, and a bike rack on the back. i'll be on campus a lot too.

I'll keep an eye out for you, I'm around anchorage quiet a bit my truck is completely stock and has a plastic bed liner. Also might be in the 69 in my sig, See you around....

  11. im not up there but haulass is still up there hit him up

Cool, I read though the thread and you moved to AZ right?

Well I am still here, but I'm nobody! :wtf: Kinda sucks the ratio of SSS up here. I must see 8-10 diffrent ss's in one day. The road I work on I can see 2 others just from my parking lot!

Any ways I'm still here. Any thing I can help with just let me know.

I know there are an amazing amount SS's up here, I see about that many a day as well. I do need to figure out my 03 Reg Cab Short bed with the LS1, its not running right (because of the tune but I have no way tuning it yet or knowledge of tuning :( ). Thanks for letting me know someones on here!

  12. just checking up on you guys. what's new? I finally got my front bumper fixed, from my winter shenaningans. Markel's does a good job. got a new bumper, grilles and brake ducts are still black, and no front plate bracket holes. Dunno if I'll be getting new mods anytime soon. gas is so damned expensive these days. I hate racing people cause i watch the gas gauge go down. hahahah. Hopefully get some LTs and a tune before winter. also need to replace my 5-year old tires on the 20s.

Anyone in AK still? I was driving around the other day and saw about 10 different SS around town (Anchorage) but wasn't sure if any are even on this site or even know about it. Guess they just drive them and don't know what their driving. Also I've seen a Silver Birch SS at UAA a lot too. I also saw a Black SS get rear ended got the rear and front bumper because it was pushed into the car in front of it :( . I just replaced my tires at AK Tire Service, with some bridgestone dueler hl alenza tires and they are awesome made it like a new truck (after an alignment though, the Alaska highway screwed it up driving up here)! Anyway just checking in with you guys to see if anything is new!

  13. Truck turned 150,000mi the other day. Just goes to show you can have fun and still make 'em last

Eventually she'll get some work done but gonna keep it mellow for now untill i beef up rear end and trans.

Cool glad I don't have the only high mileage 2000! My 2000 GMC Sierra has 158,900 miles on it and is still running good, besides replacing the transmission and various engine parts over time... :) It's for sale though since I bought the SS.

  14. perfect!

    Thanks!

....where are the pics of your ls1-powered 03?

That one might need to have a build thread started as theres a story behind it sort of...But I did post some pictures of it in another thread

Really nice! My cousin has the same one, but he is giving up on it, and wants to sell it. So I showed him this post, and hopefully it convinces him otherwise!!!

    SUPER CLEAN! :chevy:

About half way though I thought it would never come to an end and I felt the same way but I managed to get back on it because I really wanted to drive it to my graduation!
