    The crack can be easily repaired, however the chrome will be gone and by the time you have it rechromed it won't be cheap. The damage is in an area where its not a safety issue at all, I would put a tire on it and use it.

     

    I think you got a very good deal,, 160 bux apiece :cheers:

    Good so I didn't pay to much. Funny this finally got responded to because the person that sold me the rims just contacted me and said they found the center caps for them! So I've got to go get them. :D

    well, i don't know if it's consistent. i just noticed it this week. i thought it was my exhaust hitting something, but i havent really looked into it. i thought of doing the heads and cam myself, but i don't really have time, until the summer. i was planning on getting a wheatley tune. i thought about youngs off of international. i'll also keep hansen's in mind. i'm probably going to wait until next summer to get some tranny stuff done.

     

    I should probably wait until i do the bigger things to my truck. i think i'll get my LTs and a tune and call it good for awhile :cheers:

     

    I didn't even think of youngs they built a completely new drive-shaft for my C-10 and it was great! Good luck! :)

    do you guys know of any good transmission shops? i have a weird rattle going on and i've read that it might be a cracked flywheel.

     

    and do you guys know of any shops that'll install a cam and heads?

    The only transmission shop I've had any experience/heard much about is Hansen's, but I wouldn't take it to a transmission shop if just the flywheel is cracked you might be able to have another shop drop the transmission cheaper and replace the flywheel if that is for sure the problem. I've heard good things about that transmission shop off old Seward between dowling and diamond, think its behind Mr. Prime beef area. I've gone in there a couple times and they were really helpful and actually gave me some gaskets for my 69'. If it was me I would do it myself but thats me, as for the heads and cam there should be lots of shops that can do that for you but not really sure which ones are good. The only problem would be tuning it for the cam/heads since I have yet to find a good tuner up here :dunno: ? Also what type of rattle is it? Consistent or something that just happens sometimes? Anyway good luck with fixing the rattle.

    Whoa i didn't even think anyone checked this anymore so i stopped. I was always on campus last semester, usually in the RH parking lot as well. I've seen a couple blue SS's there, and I always saw Fast's Vmax in the way back where i always parked haha. Most of my classes are at the university center now so I wont be on campus very often. I got new plates that say "XSSV" so if you see me, honk n wave! Everyone else up here seem to be pricks haha

    Haha, ya I didn't really think anyone would respond when I put a post in this thread thought it was dead. Everyone from ak seems to have started posting on this site again which is cool, I'll keep an eye out and honk if I see you!

    Well I got my 22's powder coated black, and oh boy, they turned out terrible. The 'accredited shop' is ran by somebody who just didnt know what he was doing. I was washing the truck a couple days ago and while I was washing the front drivers wheel with the mitt, a huge 2" square flaked off. When I first got them, they looked awesome! I think I have pics, if not ill get some. I just had to get that off my chest.

     

    What shop did the powder coating somewhere in Soldotna or Anchorage? Just wanted to know what shop to watch out for....

    I'm still having this problem as well. It keeps getting stuck on defrost, at first it was fixed by pulling the HVAC fuses for 30 secs or so and letting it reset, but now it seems to just be stuck just like yours. I think I'm going to just give in and take it to the stealership.

    Ya I know, it could have been a scam, probably not stolen because its a pretty small town up here and if something goes on craiglist that got stolen people know about it. I was thinking it might have been totaled and bought back from insurance or something like that, maybe the other side was smashed because that's really common up here.

    Just missed a good deal earlier today on an SS on craigslist, I already have one but why not two? Haha jk. Anyway it was posted at 11:49am and I called the guy at 12:00 and it had sold already. The guy said he was only asking $6500 for it!!! It was a black 2003.

    I had never replaced one of these windows before and when I got the 03 Regular cab short bed all the glass was broke due to theft and we replaced all the windows ourselves (windshield, side windows, and back window). Got the window for $70 at a local glass shop along with the glue and sawzall window glass blade. It was pretty easy to put in. Good luck and sorry to hear about this!

    yeah i'm around. dunno if the SSs i see around town are members or not. they just look at me when i wave. if you guys see me, honk or wave. i've got blacked out grilles and brake ducts, and a bike rack on the back. i'll be on campus a lot too.

     

    Hey think I just saw you around 12:30 at Alaska Club, I was in the drive thu at Weebees LOL. I'm pretty sure it was you because it had blacked out grill and brake ducts and a bike rack. Didn't stop because I had to go home then make it back to my next class. I'll honk or say something next time! P.S. (if you still have that sub out thing, in a month I might get it, just can't right now because I'm buying an extra set of stock wheels and new studded tires so don't have much extra $$ lol)
