  1. For once, I like a redesign immediately upon release. Maybe they will have a SS edition, Chevy seems to be releasing more special editions lately.
  2. I think I got more improvement with my hydroboost conversion than my Z06 conversion. It's a great upgrade.
  3. Water pump, thermostat, serpentine belt and idler changed. Flushed the entire cooling system, again. Let's see how many days I get without puddles this time... Anybody wanna buy a 03' SS. Entire cooling system was just replaced!

  4. I just got parts for a 03' Escalade... Worked fine for me.
  5. They did have an 5.3 option on the older body style Colorado. There was also the Hummer H3 and H3T options with the Alpha package which both got a 5.3 and were the same platform as the Colorado. My parents just visited and rented the Equinox. It wasn't a horrible vehicle but definitely not something I would buy for myself. I'm just waiting to see what Chevy or GM comes out with. I'm about ready to move on from the SS but the problem is there isn't anything out there I like enough to justify trading up. I don't like how GM no longer offers a awd setup. That is the #1 thing I love about the SS, just point the steering wheel and 'go'. No spin, skip or skid and you can pretty much ignore weather conditions. The new sport package they are offering isn't all that bad but there is no "hot" motor that goes along with it, its all cosmetic. If I had to choice a replacement truck right now, it would have to be a 12/13 awd Sierra Denali or a H3T Alpha.
  6. Yet another puddle of coolant under the truck. It has been pressure tested 3 times and holds 20lbs. However, leaks a puddle when it sits over night after being driven.

problem is when it was puking (large quantities) of that wonderful coolant/trans fluid mixture, it leaked all over everywhere under the truck so everything is wet. I de-greased the engine yesterday (twice) so we'll see if I can pinpoint it now that it's all clean. I'll probably just do the water pump anyway... 12yrs old and 101k on it.

Best luck Brother. You've been through more than enough with this problem.

Funny notice today i had a small leak myself and track it down to the front shaft seal on the water pump.

  7. With the last 5 years being the exception, I have always had a Jeep. Either as my DD or as a secondary vehicle. I've been looking for years now for a bone stock, low miles TJ Rubicon... someday... I probably wouldn't turn down a nice diesel Grand Cherokee if the right one was in front of me.
  8. Another large puddle of coolant under the truck this morning. It has been driven once it was fixed. AWESOME!!!

  9. Another pebble of coolant under the truck this morning. It has been driven once since it was fixed. AWESOME!

  10. I just dealt with tranny fluid in my coolant... what's up with these trucks lately!
  11. New rear sway bar installed and not I have a intermittent shudder around 55mph.

Man, you can't catch a break lately lol. Pull the end links and see if it is still there.

  12. New radiator, hoses, flushed the cooling system, twice. Drained and refilled both difs and the transfer case. New rear shocks and rear sway bar installed. Glad it's all done now!

An older vehicle has to get pretty bad before it comes close to costing you what a new truck payment will be. Don't get me wrong I know that new is nice for a while. Everything works and all you've got to do is pay.

well, this month we're up to about $1600 so far...

Ouch. That will get your attention. Especially if your not used to spending on it regularly.

  13. New radiator, hoses, flushed the cooling system, twice. Drained and refilled both difs and the transfer case. New rear shocks and rear sway bar installed. Glad it's all done now but hated having to pay somebody to do it. Due to family being in town and my work schedule (and I needed a vehicle), I didn't have much of a choice. Ugh, it's just money... right???

  14. Any problem going with another GM radiator or is there something better out there?
  15. Is there a radiator upgrade or is just another stock GM unit best? I seem to remember out truck had the larger radiator from the factory...?

  16. I'm not overly familiar with the new 6.2's, so please forgive my ignorance. How much different are they than say the 2012+ 6.2 that were in the Denali trucks. I'm really leaning towards replacing this SS with a 12 or 13 Denali. I know some don't like it but I really want a awd truck again. I love how weather conditions just don't matter with awd and taking off is never a problem. Your truck does sound amazing though.
  17. I just wasted $300 two weeks ago having the transmission serviced. This truck is really trying my patience!!!
  18. I hate to have to start this post. About a month ago I noticed a small (6") puddle under the truck just behind the passenger front wheel that looked and smelled like GM's Dexcool but had more of an oil consistency, it was thicker than coolant and darker in color. I checked the coolant tank and it was full. I traced the leak to the coolant overflow hose from the overflow reservoir. I cleaned up the mess and kept an eye on it. The truck never runs hot, always stays right in the middle of the gauge. She isn't overheating either. The coolant has 40k miles on it and about time to be changed anyway. I didn't ignore the problem because these things obviously don't fix them selves. However, it had not leaked again. Then I had a issue with my transmission being low on fluid and slipping. Took it to the tranny shop and they could find no visible leak but obviously it was down fluid. I had the trans serviced and all was well, no more slipping but still no explanation as to where the trans fluid went. They said bring it back in a few weeks and they will put it on the lift to see if there is anything wet under the truck. Then we fast forward to tonight! I went up to Lowes and noticed the transmission acting funny. Not slipping, sloppy would be the best way to describe it. *note* this is how it was acting just before it started slipping. So I get home, bring my stupp into the house and about an hour later when I go back to the garage, huge puddle once again behind the passenger wheel. Again, smells like coolant but much darker and thicker. Again, trance it back the coolant overflow hose. You can see where it is running down the inside of the passenger fender to the ground. The coolant overflow tank is once again full with a nasty brown sludge. I immediately think the head gasket and check the engine oil but looks normal. Nothing milky or foamy/bubbly. Just looks like normal engine oil and is at the correct level. I then check the trans fluid and guess what, its low again. Crawl under the truck and can't find anywhere on the transmission that is wet. I'm not an overly smart person and a bit overhead when it comes to engines but I have a basic understanding. So, it appears my transmission fluid is somehow mixing with my coolant. The only logical place I can think this could occur would possibly be the radiator. Does this sound possible? It would explain the mystery of where my missing transmission fluid went as well as why the coolant tank is overflowing since it is obviously a closed system and the level should not be changing.
  19. UGH! Another puddle under the truck... WTF!

Just cant catch a break man. Sorry to hear it.

  20. Nitto 420's here in a 305... zero complaints with them. Have had them for probably 2 years now. I think I paid around $800 for the set.
  21. I just ordered some cheap $100 ones to replace the yellow factory ones. One moth later the parking lights had water in them. The company sent me a replacement no questions asked. I'm going to try the silicone deal on the new ones.
