  1. Salesman: This is a great Grand Cherokee but it is being sold "as is" because the transfer case and 4wd system is not working. Also, the part is not available from Chrysler and we can't fix it. You can start it but you can't drive it. Me: Um, ok (lost all interest at this point). You do know your asking price is $3k ABOVE book... in perfect working condition...right? Salesman: We feel the Jeep is priced appropriately.

The GC probably was in working condition when traded in and an employee might have got a little crazy in it lol

Then they should feel your middle finger is appropriate as well

It was flat towed behind a RV and I don't think the previous owner ever put the transfer case uin neutral (just the transmission). Too bad, a diesel Jeep is pretty rare

  3. My day at the Jeep dealer:

  4. I'm gonna say no in regards to swapping the foam. The tilting mechanism is bigger which makes the foam bigger and ultimately the headrest bigger. I'm sure there is a solution out there, I just haven't figured it out yet. Put the two side by side and you will see the size difference. On the plus side, score on those headrests! They look like the exact color to match the SS interior and a great price. I would see if you can bring those new headrests (along with the original ones) to some type of embroidery show and have them stitch the SS logo on the new tilting headrests. I would then box up the originals and keep them safe in the event you sell the truck and can offer all the 'original' parts. I wish I had done that vs messing up one of my factory SS headrest cover.
  5. Been driving my buddy's 2013 Sierra Denali for the past week... I swore I would never get rid of the SS but the Denali is a DAMN nice truck!

Yeah, that L92 motor and 6L80E transmission is beastly. The heated steering wheel was a nice touch on the 18 deg day I had the Denali

  6. Your in luck (kinda). I'm half way through this project. I bought a pair of H2 tilting headrests. The H2 headrests, along with the Escalade ones fit in out seats the same way they fit in the original vehicle. The measurements between the posts are the same. This is the problem though, the actual headrests are different sizes. The tilting headrests are slightly larger than the non tilting ones. They are close but not close enough. I messes one of the smaller SS covers up trying to get it to fit over the larger tilting headrest foam. That is about as far as I have gotten with this project at this time. Right now I have a SS headrest on my passenger seat and a black tilting H2 one on my driver's side seat. The other two are taken are taken apart and sitting in the garage until I figure out what I'm doing.
  7. Look at the one I posted under my status... some people...

I agree but he is not too far off... I'd say around 375-380 at the crank... Just remember 345 is at the crank hp so a good tune worth 20hp and a good exhaust 10-30hp with headers

  8. WoW! 400HP on a stock LQ9 with just a tune and cat-back. I gotta get this tuner's name!

  9. First thing I did was take the ghetto chrome wheels off my truck and put some stockers back on. The factory 20" SS wheels just look right on this truck.
  10. I have em' and I love em' Huge improvement over the stock Goodyears
  11. Agreed... and it doesn't mention the 6.0 LQ9 in these trucks.
  12. Finally getting around to posting these for sale. These are the two-tone black and charcoal (dark gray) neoprene custom seat covers for an extended cab Silverado or Sierra with a solid rear bench and dual power front buckets w/ fold down armrests. They are the expensive CR grade wetsuit material (not the thinner Neosupreme stuff) and have map pockets on both front seats. They were probably on the truck for about 6 months or so (maybe a bit longer) before I decided to take them off. I bought them to protect the seats in my SS from my (at the time) German Shepherd puppy, Dexter. They worked good for the first 6 months but now that he is about 85 lbs, whenever he does a flying leap into the passenger seat, the seat bottom tends to shift around and I was constantly adjusting it. It was never an issue when he was a pup but then he grew up. Also, now that he is full grown, I have to fold the rear seat up for him to fit in the back and the seat covers are pretty much pointless when the seat is always folded up. They did a great job at protecting the leather seats. No matter how nasty or wet Dexter got, the leather never saw any of it. They have been washed and stored in my closet since I stopped using them. They are in good shape, no rips, tears, smells or anything like that but I did use them used so they are not 100% perfect. I'm sure you will find a few German Shepherd hairs still clung to them. The only real complaint I had with these covers is the seat bottoms for the front seats moved around. I contacted Cover King about it and they advised it was because I had factory leather. They said it is not an issue with cloth seats and as a solution I could put the rubber no-slip rug backing between the leather and covers to hold them in place. I never tried it and ended up just not putting them on after taking them off for a cleaning. One last thing to point out (and I didn't notice this until I removed them for cleaning and had them laying side by side) but the color of the gray (the insert color) between the front and rear seats is a different color gray. I ordered all the same color so I'm not sure why it is not all the same. I never noticed when they were in the truck. I took a photo to show the different shade. Here is a link for more info: http://www.coverking.com/custom-seat-covers/water-resistant-neoprene-seat-cover.html These list for $620 on the Cover King website. I paid just above $500 through Stylintrucks or autoanything (I forget). Anyway, $225, shipped. Let me know if you have any questions or want more pictures.
  13. Could you even imagine what would happen in Florida if it ever snowed here? People down here can't even imagine to drive in the rain. An inch of snow would shut this entire state down. Coming from somebody that grew up in the north and learned to drive in the snow, there is nothing like blasting down unplowed roads in a 4wd vehicle. Once the roads get cleared... it's just a pain in the ass tho.
  14. thinking about buying a 06 Rubicon Really don't need it but I really want it.

  15. This thread reminds me, my transmision is due to be flushed. I had it done at 60k and I'm just over 90k. I like to have everything with fluid changed every 30k. I have always worked on the guidelines of not flushing a higher mile (100k+) transmission if it had never been regularly done as directed by the factory. However, if it has been regularly maintained, I'm comfortable with having it flushed. B&G Fluids (the equipment the dealer uses to flush/change the fluid) actually offers a warranty on the transmission (or coolant system, differentials, transfer case, ect.) if they have been regular serviced with their machines per factory specs. Obviously, this is a sales pitch to push their products but my dealer told me B&D will pay out claims to customers. I think a tranny is $1500, a diff/transfer case is $1,000 and the cooling system is $500. Say what you will, but the F-150 I had before my SS had 177k when I traded it in. It was my grandfather's truck and was maintained 100% to factory specs it's entire life and all services were done to it. The truck was almost all original and never had any transmission issues. In fact, the truck would probably still be here today but for the damn electrolysis problem it developed in the last year of ownership. Changing heater cores and radiators every 6 months got old and Ford could not solve the issue. Ford even sent factory reps out and they could not figure it out but that is a whole different story.
  16. My roommate bought a grill that looks very similar to what the OP posted. Maybe another model or something but definitely the same style and manufacturer. I'm not impressed with it... it's pretty cheap (in quality, I don't know what he paid) and is already rusting in Florida under a covered Lanai. I cooked on it tonight and I think you could do better for $400.
  17. My SS had gaudy aftermarket chrome wheels when I bought it. First thing I did also is find some stockers and I couldn't be happier. The chrome wheels/tires would never stay balanced and rode like crap.
  18. Just be warned, if you claim on your insurance, you are responsible for your deductible and get ready for your rates to go up. Whenever your insurance pays out, they get their money back, usually by raised rates for the next 5-7 years. The insurance company always comes out ahead. I hate insurance and will only make a claim as a last resort.
  19. Limo tint and a tinted windshield will work wonders. Night time driving kinda sucks though.
  20. I have a take home car that I drive most days. The SS is my daily if I am not driving my work car. I wanted another vehicle as a beater but with almost 100k on my SS, I guess there really isn't a need at this point.
  21. Any brand recommended? If I have to pull my seats apart, I don't want to do it twice.
