  1. Double and triple check your fluid... learn from my mistake.
  2. Code P0101? I just had to clean my MAF last night... TB is probably due again. Thanks for the reminder.
  3. Well, good news today. Took my truck to the trans shop, slipping the whole way there. Fluid was really low. Had the tranny serviced (new fluid/filter). There were no metal shaving or anything bad in the pan, fluid was clean also. No idea where the fluid went. The underside of the truck is bone dry but as of right now, a new tranny is not needed :)

Man; You've got a mystery on your hands. Are you sure that it was filled properly in the recent past? (Don't know if you just got the truck and hadn't filled it yourself).

I bought the truck at 60k and the first thing I did was take it to dealer and had any/all fluids drained/flushed/refilled. That was 40k miles ago.

You've got to trust sombody, right?

Probably the most logical thing to do at this point is just drive it and keep an eye on the tranny level.

  5. sounds like one of your hard brake lines that runs along the frame rail to the rear brakes.
  6. The Mobile1 for a Corvette in my truck.
  7. Bone stock SS and my L64e is sliping in second with only 100k miles. The trans are definitely a weak spot in these trucks.
  8. Whining fuel pump, CEL Code P0101 (MAF sensor), slipping second gear and now a puddle of tranny fluid under truck. Any chance any of this is related or do I just have horrible luck. All happened within 2 days of each other.

  9. My truck was pretty good up until about 95k miles when I looked at trading it. They offered me 10k and looking back, I should have taken it. The truck has been falling apart since I decided to keep it. Knock sensors, wheel bearings and now I have a whining fuel pump, front end needs to be rebuilt, clear coat is failing. Oh yeah, 2nd gear is now slipping. Only has 100k miles now. The whole "no car payment" thing got the best of me and now it looks like I'll be paying for it.
  10. I think I just lost or am loosing second gear. Anybody know how to post videos so I can get a confirmation?

Upload video to youtube or photobucket and then post a link.

  11. Just rolled 100K miles and at the same time, the low fuel light comes on. That's about right.

Just for fun, 100,000 miles with an average 11 mpg = 8,333 gallons of fuel used this far. 8,333 gallons of fuel at an average of $3.00 for premium = $25,000 in fuel.

Whoa... That's a nice used SSS now

  12. I had a buddy with an Escalade (same driveline) that went through several tensioner before the a/c compressor finally went bad. Turns out the compressor was binding up and putting a lot of strain on the tensioner. It would only do it when the clutch was engaged. It was fine when the a/c was off.
  13. Thinking about putting the SS up for sale... again

Probably. I need to figure out the situation with my boat first. The Rubicon I want to replace the SS with can't tow my boat.

  14. Just go with a Grant wheel if your replacing the wheel. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/grt-61030?seid=srese1&gclid=CLfz5MCX9sQCFYM8gQodnFcA7w
  15. Are you referring to the carpet dash covers? If so, I have one. I'll get a pic of it later. It is black and loves to collect dog hair.
  16. I'd hate to be paying for the fuel on that road trip
  17. Mine started whining about 6 months ago. After reading numerous complaints of whining GM fuel pumps and people driving for 100k miles like that, I'm just going to leave it alone and deal with it if/when if goes bad. A lot of people replaced the fuel pump only to have the new one whine as well.
  18. Hitching my boat up to the SS makes the back end get low, real low. I might put my boat in high and dry storage and not have to tow any more. If I continue to tow I'll probably add bags.
  19. http://www.gmoutletparts.com/oe-gm/12335692 $141. I need one also, and a back-up cam... damn boat trailer...
  20. Wasn't the SS the top (most expensive) trim in it's day with the only option being the color? I thought they all came fully loaded until half way through 05 when they went to two wheel drive.
  21. Subscribed. I just got new headlight housings and would also like to upgrade the bulbs. They are factory style housings so I really don't want to go the HID route either.
