  1. Looking to replace the headlights and taillights that the Florida sun has destroyed if anybody has any laying around. My headlights are almost yellow and my tails are almost clear. Might be trading the truck in the near future so really don;t want to spend a ton of money, just want it to look better than it does. Located in Tampa Bay.
  2. I need to change mine out as well... or get rid of the truck... either way
  3. Do any of the new GM/Chevy trucks come with an electronic locking rear-end or is the G80 still what they are offering?

  4. Knock sensors replaced. They were not nearly as bad as I was expecting but the rear one was definitely sitting in water and causing the problem.

  5. Mine is mounted under the dash. My XM account isn't active any longer but it worked without fail when it was.
  6. Jealous... wish I was ordering a new truck but instead I'm doing the responsible thing and ordering parts to fix the paid off truck
  7. P0332... Let's just add knock sensors to the list. This truck has been flawless up until 97k miles. I guess it's true everything is designed to fail at $100k miles. Should have dumped it last month on that Denali!

  8. Great, now it looks like I need a water pump...

got my oem one off amazon for about $90 i think

  9. Got fed up with the truck sounding like it was falling apart whenever hitting a bump. Thought it was suspension but it was actually the lower cubby in the door panels rattling. Some liquid nails and spray foam and now the rattling is gone. I also sprayed the back of the door panels with rubberized undercoating to help with road noise.

My truck sounds like it's falling apart going over harsh bumps but it sounds pretty heavy like the doors are bouncing on the latches.

Hold the cubby when going over bumps. My passenger side was far worse than my driver side.

      I'll check it out. Thanks.

  11. Walked into my local Chevy dealer today to pick up a set of plugs and wires. Parts guy rings me up at $247. Subsequently turned around and walked out without said plugs and wires. Went to my usual (further away) dealer, $140 at cost. I buy them. Get home, yank the old stuff, go to put on the new stuff only to find out they sold me the wrong (shorter) wires. I just can't win...

      That definitely sucks.

Went back to the dealer and swapped out the wrong wires for the correct ones. Finished the passenger side, moved to the drivers side and threw me back out on the first plug on that side. Like I said, I just can't win.

  12. Anybody have some stock tails they wanna sell? Apparently the Florida sun has destroyed those too, they look like clear euro crap now! Ugh, when it rains...

  13. I bought a new (used) boat today. It's a 2006 Proline 21 Sport w/ a 150hp Suzuki. I figure with the hull, dual axle aluminum trailer, motor, 3/4 tank of fuel and misc items the boat weighs in around 4,500 lbs which is way below the tow rating for my truck. I had no issues to speak of while driving through the city but I was very surprised once I got up on the highway. I had tow/haul mode on and the truck was really struggling to maintain 65-70mph on interstate. If I had to merge, pass or came upon a hill (Florida, I use the term loosely), I almost had to have the pedal to the floor to maintain speed. Even with the tow/haul mode on, it still feels like the truck was shifting into overdrive. It seemed to constantly be shifting and once it would downshift, it would take a ridiculous amount of time before it would up-shift again. I checked all my fluids before I left and everything was spot on, transmission fluid was a nice, clear pink color and right where it should be. I also noticed when the truck was struggling, the temp gauge would creed up a few tics. Maybe I was expecting too much but I didn't think with a 6.0 litre and 4.10 gears I would be having any issues towing this boat. Everything else about towing was fine (thank you Hydroboost and Z06!). I'm just curious to see how other owners feel about towing with their SS on the highway. I'm almost wondering if my tranny is on its way out or there is some other problem because I have never felt like the SS had a lack of power. Oh, and I also averaged a whopping 7.1 mpg on the way home
  14. I flushed mine at 60k when I bought it and I'm gonna do it shortly again at almost 100k. If i bought the truck at 100k and it had never been done, i wouldn't flush it but since I have regularly flushed it, I'm not worried about having it flushed again.
  15. I think it is just what happens with bed covers. Mine has worn the paint down to bare metal in some spots and I have had it adjusted twice by the dealer. The bed covers just vibrate when going down the road.
  16. The tire shop found my problem when trying to align it, couldn't get it to line up. They had it up on the lift and you could clearly see the play in the joints. Just like looking for a bad tie rod. I would get on my back with a flashlight and crawl under the truck. Have somebody in the truck slightly moving the steering wheel. Look at all the linkages and look for any play in the joints.
  17. Go faster...? j/k my issue was a bad idler & pitman arm but my shake was more at highway speeds.
  18. Feeler: If I yanked all the Z06 conversion stuff prior to trading my truck (maybe), would anybody in Florida be interested in buying it? I think it would be way too heavy to ship.

Gonna get the truck looked at this week sometime to see what my options are about re-finishing or repainting. The quotes I get back will probably dictate what I do with the truck.

  19. We should all get together and contact Chevy about this... haha J/K, they would laugh... "your truck is how old and you want us to do what?"
  20. I got my fronts on and huge difference. Should be doing the rears and rear sway bar this week. I really hope the bar fits with my exhaust.
  21. That Denali keeps looking better and better now...
  22. Funny you mention this, my buddy has a 05 white 2500HD Duramax. I was telling him about my hood and he walked me over to his truck. Same clear failure in the same spot and it is also showing signs of clear failure on most of the flat (hood, roof and bed-rails) surfaces as well. His truck however is a farm truck, he doesn't have garage and has always been outside but I have rarely seen white do this, it is usually the darker colors.
  23. It is clear coat failure, nothing malicious or intentional. The front bumper has been re-sprayed at some point but not the hood. If you look closely at the pictures you can see tiny little bubbles. I found the same bubbles on the other corner of the hood and on the corners of the roof, no clear failing like this but there are these tiny bubbles. I have to do something, I can't leave it like this, it looks horrible. Within the last 10k miles I have done a hydroboost conversion, Z06 brakes w/ SS lines, Nitto 420's in a 305/50/20 and just 2 weeks ago put new belltech shocks w/ the DJM rear sway bar (yeah, a lot of $). I had been considering trading it or selling it for a new Sierra Denali but now I'm stuck. Nobody will buy it as is and a dealer isn't going to give me crap for it. Painting it seems like my only option. My issue is where do I stop... the truck has 96K miles on it and although it is in very good condition, it has road wear consistent with a 100k mile vehicle. So, do I paint just the hood, the nose or fix all imperfections and re-paint the whole truck? I'm worried if I try to just paint the hood it won't match the rest of the truck and it will be obviously re-painted. I have been quoted 5-6k to re-spray the entire truck the correct way, removing everything. I also have a guy who will shoot just the hood for just $300. I try to wax it every 6 months, sometimes its sooner, sometimes later. The truck exclusively gets Adams products. It has spent the last 1 1/2 years outside beause it was 6" too long to fit in the garage and yes, the Florida sun does bake paint.
  24. OK, I might have actually sobbed when there was nobody around. I washed my truck just before I left for a week. I came home and the truck was dirty from sitting under some oak trees for the last week so I was going to give it another bath and found this! There was nothing wrong with the paint a week ago. I am astonished this happened in a week. I always take care of my paint, wash the truck regularly and keep wax on it. It was been garage kept on and off for the past 4 years I have owned it. Now I don't know what to do, paint the hood, paint the whole truck or just trade it of. The rest of the paint is fine but so wasn't the hood a week ago. Damn Florida sun!
