  1. That really sucks about the head gaskets.Only good part is it's nice to pull everything apart and start fresh. What kind of gaskets do you run? I'm using the LS9 gaskets.I've only taken my 403 up to 14#s but they have held up well.I had a bad injector last year and lost one gasket. It torched right through the head.Thank God I have an iron block so I didn't have to pull the motor.I don't work half as fast as you. Good luck.
  2. I bought a set of wheels from The Tire Rack about 2 months ago. After I did the front brakes I lost to wheels centres.Luckily I saw one come off but lost the other one. They are large and a poor design.I called them up to order a new one.The guy told me we'll send one out tomorrow no charge. Rare service these days.
  3. WOW! You were busy this weekend.;) Nice work. This is surely a multipurpose truck. What are you using for a fuel system?
  4. It looks like either tire will fit as long as you have the right offset rim.4.56 with a 28" tire at 6000 RPM will give you 108 MPH.With a 28.8" tire 6000 RPM will give you 112 MPH.I don't know your mods, which would have a big bearing on which way to go.
  5. I'm not sure how you are taking that but I think it means putting the motor into the red test truck and not just releasing it to the public. I missed the original show on Speed but a buddy of mine said they injected liquid Nitrogen into the motor to bring down the temp. I remember when people got nervous about putting cold water in a hot block.

  7. Hmm.I think it will be a tire burner.Especially with a light rear half.Great if that is your game.A well optioned GTO with a fat guy driving weighs around 3900.Maybe GM should have put a truck intake on it:noway: .Maybe it was a hood clearance issue and not a functional thing.Still.Very nice truck.
  8. Thanks for replying back. What are the dimensions of the lights?I'm wondering how they would fit behind the SS ducts.
  9. With the light weight of the truck and the Z06 cam you would probably pickup some power with a Z06 intake.
  10. Nice work.Looks factory. If you had stock wheels and a hood that truck would be the sleeper of the year.
  11. I started installing my new front rotors and pads today.Silly me.I thought I wouldn't need calipers.1 piston went back in but the other was seized.I got the caliper bolts and caliper bracket bolts out NP.I tried to remove the rotor and it was seized on.I used penetrating oil, heat and a 7# sledge and it wasn't coming off.I went and bought a rotor puller. The claws were about a foot long and the main shaft was 1" if not more. This thing won't break.I used a 2 1/2' breaker bar and started turning. After things got tight I must have got 3 full turns out of the bar when I decided it wouldn't be a good idea to be in front or the rotor when it goes. Finally I hear a snap and the rotor and puller shot out about 4'.That would have hurt.Lucky I was standing off to the side.I'll have to wait till Monday for callipers.Cheapest I can find are $78.Good ol Canada.Ya gotta love it.
  12. Let us know how they work out. Thanks
  13. I'm looking for factory style fog lights that would fit behind the SS brake ducts. What is everyone using? Thanks
  14. If your insurance company is paying why wouldn't you buy new?
  15. Are those CCWs in the back ground on a C5?
  16. These are completed auctions. The red sales figures did not sell.I think you are looking in the $2000-$4000 range.I've been to a lot of auctions and I've seen some mint old cruisers go fairly cheap.Do a search for Cadillac clubs and forums. No offence but it's not a real collectable item. http://completed.shop.ebay.ca/Cars-Trucks-/6001/i.html?rt=nc&LH_Complete=1&_nkw=1967%20cadillac&_catref=1&_dmpt=US_Cars_Trucks&_fln=1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m283&_rdc=1
  17. They have a high heat anti rust paint.I think that's the one to use.I don't think the semi gloss has any difference as far as how it works so I wouldn't let that hold you back on what one to use.As usual it wouldn't hurt to call the manufacturer.
  18. Stoptech makes them for an 04. http://cgi.ebay.ca/Stoptech-SS-Front-Brake-Lines-Silverado-Suburban-Tahoe-/220774233234?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item33672b7492
  19. My interior is in very good shape except for the edge of the driver's seat cover. Some of the leather has worn off.Has anyone replaced this area or the whole lower seat cover?Has anyone replaced the whole seat cover.Upper and lower on one seat? How did it turn out and how much did it cost? Thanks

    Paint Match

Call a wheel restroration shop.I know they get wheels in that they have never done before and someway find a match.A lot of specialized auto paint shops have a device that gives them a colour code for almost anything. There is also a paint used for the bare aluminum look.Restorers use it on intakes, valve covers and water pumps. It comes out flat and looks like real aluminum. One brand I've used is called Alumiblast. If you sprayed a clear coat over it it might be close. You could do your testing on a centre cap or on the back of a wheel. Good luck.
  21. Nice looking truck! I'd go easy on the colour matching as it looks great as is.Most guys go too far. Some automotive graphic shops can take a pic of your truck and add what you want before you commit. You could even use white shoe polish on the grill and stand back about 20' to see if you like it.I sure wouldn't be sanding any chrome off untill I was sure.Even though costly the stripes can be removed if you don't like them.
  22. Get a brake controller, weight distributing hitch and a trans cooler. Those are a must. The air bags would be a bonus and one of those cheap back up cameras would also help.Don't wait till 20 minutes before you plan to leave to hook up.A trailer that big is pushing the limits of a 1/2 ton pickup.Buy all your parts from a specialized trailer shop and get to know one of the experienced guys.Get them to set everything up for you and watch how they do it.I would practice towing something that large a couple or weeks before your actual trip if this is your first time towing. If you can practice on a wet road you should try some panic stops and see how the trailer brakes react.Practice using the hand control on the brake box and use it if you ever get out of shape.A fluid change all round wouldn't be a bad idea, especially synthetic in your trans.Make sure you have a spare for the trailer.Tire pressure is important on a setup like what you are planning.Trailer tires run higher pressure then cars.Read your owner's manual on towing. You might consider joining a towing forum.Lots of info out there. Good luck & BE CAREFULL!
