So now I have got my issues resolved with the pinging and check engine light. I'm ready to do some performance upgrades. I already ordereded my electric fans and wireing harness, cold air intake, 160 stat, pacesetter headers and high flow cats. I'm going to send out the PCM to have it tuned for my truck. Question is what's everyone using for mass air sensor upgrades? I want to upgrade mine along with everything else?
Thanks

Ok guys I'm starting to regret buying a Chevy here lol. Althought my pinging noise went away now that I actually use 93 octane lol ha. Anyway I now have a new problem. Check engine light came on today went right to autozone to get scanned. Came up with code p0449 definition evaporative emission system.
Probable cause
Purge or vent solenoids bad
Check connector and wireing
Fuel saturated vapor canister
Failed evap vent solenoid
Anyone had this problem before if so what's the best possible cause??
Thanks again any help would be greatly appreciated....

Thanks. I don't think it's exhaust at all. I picked up a friend today and he heard it he thinks it's a ping also? Tune up wise everything is fairly new. I only had the truck a few weeks but but looks like he maintained it really well. Only mod on the truck is cat back flows

Well update. I ran all the 87 octane out and filled up with 93 with the marvel mystery oil and still pinging. No less or no more but deff still pinging. Anyone have any other idea. Thanks

I would only do this if u have a vacuume pump to pull all the moister out of the system. Otherwise your going to have all that air in there causing it to run high head pressure and have non condensables in the system. Pull a good vacuume and it's 134a and your pressures should be about 35 to 40 psi suction pressure at 1700 rpm.

I had it for like 3 weeks noticed it since day one. No loss of power and runs fine under normal conditions. But when u smash the peddle to the floor weather from a dead stop or going 50 you can hear the pinging. So marvel mystery oil to clean the engine? And 93 octane to clean the fuel system? These trucks don't require 93 all the time do they? Thanks

I just bought a 2003 silverado SS and under hard acceleration you can hear the engine pinging. I basically checked everything I can think of. Has anyone had this problem are these trucks known for this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
