  1. is injector number 12580681 a 30# or 36#??? so many conflicting results on the interwebz i am so confused

  2. hey I just realized you're not that far from me... we need to get up with GI SS and Tyson for a cruise or something I think they are a little above us
  3. I agree with Mid12s... looks very video game-esque... I dig it though and the background is pretty sweet too! good looking truck man
  4. got any pictures of what you did? I was thinking about moving all the shit from the top to the back as well. did you use a plastic welder or something else? oh and btw, holy smokes cutting all that crap off is a PITA. This morning I got the back half of it done... I think I might wait until tomorrow to tackle the forward portion and begin smoothing everything... still debating whether or not to attempt relocating stuff...
  5. no problem bro. just something I stumbled upon while I was at work and it got me thinking...
  6. I figured as much... It would have been a sad day though to spend hours upon hours cutting and smoothing to find out someone else had done this to find out those ugly lines are there for more than just looks LOL
  7. ^^^ I think we found our candidate for getting some dupes made and now we can avoid the whole devaluing the real numbered ones dilemma.
  8. so i just got my NNBS intake manifold and it is going to be a few weeks before I have the last few pieces to do the swap... Thinking about cleaning it up a bit while i wait for more parts... any reason i shouldn't shave/smooth (get rid of all the 'webbing') off the top and repaint with some vht? This manifold will never see boost and I don't see any serious risks of degrading structural integrity from taking some of the casting lines and what not off the top... Experts, time to school me please. link for reference http://ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-hybrids/1525932-smoothed-truck-intakes.html
  9. I hear ya. There are a lot of things I think people pay way too much money for and overvalue (NNBS intake for example... when being sold as a performance part they are worth 200-300, even 400 bucks but when being bought as a replacement item for a stock application they can be had for waaaayyyyyy less)... to each his own. I guess I can't really talk too much because I've paid over 200 bucks for a pair of shoes that were like 75 dollars when they came out in 2001...Now do I think they will ever be worth more than I paid? No, but to me I guess it was worth it at the time LOL... I can see both sides of the coin in regards to this and honestly if copying posters is our biggest moral dilemma I think we are finally getting closer to where we should be as a society.
  10. I have access to a lift so I put them on myself. really straight forward and easy actually. disconnect o2 sensors, and start chopping out cats with a sawzall. unbolt manifolds and drop from underneath. separate steering to install driverside side and slide them suckers in... easy breezy.. no need to pay a shop
  11. mid12s I think you are missing the concept of what people are asking for here... We (at least myself) are not looking for copies because we are cheap. These are clearly rare in a sense that they were not massed produced and I'm sure over half of them have been thrown away, destroyed, etc.... It's simply the fact that the only way for all of us enthusiasts to have a cool little piece of SSS memorabilia would be to take one of the few posters that hasn't been destroyed or thrown away (as I am sure a WHOLE LOT of them were) and make copies for everyone else... I read a thread from 2005 where people were getting these as gifts when buying brand new trucks. some numbered, some not numbered. Clearly these were never created with the intent to be a valuable piece of art... the only reason Stiches poster sold for as much as it did is because there are a few people who clearly have way too much money. I would consider those individuals the exception, not the standard. For the guys who think copies would devalue the real ones, I am sorry but these will never be worth more than 150 bucks or so, hell it will probably go down once all the SSS are totaled or finally bought by people who plan on keeping them forever. Nobody is asking for copies to start slinging on the black market to turn a profit or 'devalue' the real ones. Although I don't even think the real ones are all that valuable nor will they increase too much in value over the years... this is more a case of a bunch of enthusiasts who would like a cool looking poster made after their baby to hang in their man cave, garage, etc... oh and btw I am offering to pay 135 bucks for one in mint condition if anyone feels that's a good enough offer.
  12. what are we, a bunch of antique dealers now? you guys are too funny. I hope all you guys that are so opposed to making a few copies for us fellow enthuiasts have never illegally downloaded a song or movie without paying full retail price for it. if you have i have one word for you all... hypocrite....
  13. thanks! I love the way she sounds. cruising isn't loud at all and when you open it up she screams. The ball/socket flanges I got from summit for 6 dollars a piece... way cheaper than buying sets from magnaflow, spintech, etc... The mufflers are part number 6331... I will get under the truck and snap some pics of the exhaust work once the weather gets a litle nicer if anyone is curious as to how everything is put together....
  14. posted a couple clips of the spintech exhaust on my build thread. sorry about the quality...

  15. short videos of exhaust. crappy cell phone camera does not give the sound justice once I find someone with a good camera I will get some better clips and a rolling shot...
  16. I just use searchcraigslist.org since there are never any for sale local and ask sellers of they are willing to ship. A lot of times you can find them a lot cheaper when they are not being sold as an upgrade part on here or pt.net etc...
  17. so I just picked up a complete NNBS intake manifold with injectors, rails, map sensor, TB. Not sure which throttle body came on the 2008 5.3s... Should I just use the one that's already on there or pick up a LS3 TB? seems like there is a pretty good deal on some on ebay right now http://www.ebay.com/itm/LS3-GM-Air-Fuel-Intake-Throttle-Body-NEW-TAKE-OFFs-WITH-COSMETIC-BLEMS-/111282672031?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19e8f6d19f&vxp=mtr For now I plan on using the 36 lb flex fuel injectors with adaptors while I save up for 8.1 Marines, a set of worked over 243 heads, cam, etc... thoughts? Opinions? Also, anybody have any experience dealing with casper electronics? seems to be the cheapest adaptors I have found. http://www.casperselectronics.com/store2/product_info.php?products_id=1606
  18. Just got a deal on a complete NNBS intake (rails, sensor, 36# injectors, TB) for 190! Now to find an X-link...

  19. damn if I was closer I'd scoop up the gem in a heartbeat! too funny
  20. Hell i'll wrap that sucker in painters tape to make sure it doesn't get all scratched up lol
  21. To let me use as a loaner or to buy? Most of the employees don't even know what I'm talking about when I go in and ask about one and I have to show them a picture. Then they try to give me a big c clamp... If I'm going to buy one I might as well get it from amazon with all the gift cards I have
  22. None of the the stores out here have one to loan out...
  23. http://www.amazon.com/Chevrolet-Unloading-Quality-Suspension-Advantage/dp/B00ENKGRSW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1394841830&sr=8-2&keywords=torsion+bar+unloading+tool this would most likely be the one I buy, I like the idea of being able to slip a wrench on it and keep it from spinning around while being used...
  24. So no one out here local to me has a torsion bar unloading tool to rent or borrow and it's really looking like I'm going to have to buy one to swap out my keys... I know I can do it rigby style with a gear puller or whatever but I'd rather just use the right tool. Anyways, I know on the AR-15 forums, some guys buy jigs and they kind of just get passed around from member to member as needed... Is there a pretty decent need for a torsion bar unloading tool around here or am I the only one late to the lowering party? If there are some guys that could benefit from this let's get something started... I just don't want to buy this thing for 75-100 bucks from amazon and see it only get used one time... Everyone feel free to chime in with thoughts, ideas, etc...
