  1. Maybe sometime if you wouldn't mind measuring how far back the end links go from the axle so we can see if it will clear. I have a custom dual exhaust that the previous owner installed. I worry about clearence.
  2. Yep not oem, look at the front bumper the brake ducts are moulded into the cover. One the real deal it is two separate pieces.
  3. That's one heck of a deal... just may need to speak Spanish though..... lol.
  4. Has anyone done this mod that has a corsa or magnaflow exhaust. Based on the picture I wonder about exhaust clearance. I think that is why some on here want the hotchkiss as it mount in front of the axle vs behind.
  5. I would post an ad in the FS and looking section. I know I've seen folks post they have the template and may be willing to make a copy for you. Maybe do a search in the archives as I think I saw something not that long ago....
  6. At one point GM's fix was to "relube" the I-shaft... then the fix was to "exercise" aka redistribute the grease. Final fix was a redesign of the shaft. I think they had at least two designs before they finally got it right. As far as recall's go they are ONLY issued for a safety defect. Something like a customer annoyance, which the intermediate shaft falls under is not a recall. Best way I can think to describe is it feels like something is tapping the steering... it typically is worst on bumpy roads and when you turn into a parking lot and drive over a curb cut when the suspension is flexing. Did GM have TSB's on this... yes lots of them! The final TSB was to replace with the "updated" design. I used to be able to get parts at a discount but don't have my connections where I live now. Your best bet is to find a place like gmparts.com (or similar). They are websites run by dealers who basically sell parts at cost plus 10% and then shipping. Typically they will be less then what "list" is at your local dealer.
  7. A clunk in the steering wheel? If so you need to replace your intermediate shaft with the latest design. Lubeing does nothing. I replaced mine two years ago when I got my truck and so far no problems. Granted I've only driven 12,000 miles. It's a pretty easy repair if you have some tools and basic knowledge.
  8. Well.... that's cool you looked into it. I would agree that getting the project moving forward doesn't sound good. It's too bad they need such a high number to order but I understand from a manufacturering standpoint point you need to run batches. I think 600+ per end scares some folks off. Heck I don't know if I would spend that much. Thanks for the info!
  9. On Carfax does it give you an office or area it was registered? On my truck I think it listed the county of office it was registered at. Sometimes if they have a service event it may list a shop. You could call them and see if they could give you a name or phone number. Worth a shot.
  10. It's been loooong discontinued. I've looked on and off for one but I think you'll have more luck finding gold at the bottom of a rainbow. What we should do is see if we could get a group buy and see if they would make a small run for us.
  11. You'll have better luck if people can see what your selling.... it is the 21st century.
  12. Good luck with your search. I'm in Charlotte NC and haven't seen any silver birch trucks around. I'll keep my eyes out for one.
  13. I think the latter. You might find someone that HAS to have one but even low miles ones go for mid 20s. Probably not why you wanted to hear. If it was special or had a famous owner it might add some value. At the end of the day it's just a used pickup. Guys with lots of money will go buy the newest toy with all the bells and whistles. The other problem you have is no bank will finance a truck that old even with low miles. So your gonna have to find that unicorn cash buyer.
  14. A torch is handy for rusty bolts. HEAT is your friend! Remember that... even a small hand torch will help, get the bolt good and hot and it helps more than you can imagine. But be careful it will be hot.... ;-)
  15. That is correct... All the air from the abs unit entered your lines so you need to rebleed once you do abs. I would start over from zero to make sure done right. I am not familiar with the tool you mentioned if it has the abs function then it should work. I'm am lucky and have my own tech 2. I also use an air power bleeder that I have that utilizes shop air so I don't have to pump the brakes.
  16. You probably need to bleed the ABS unit. You need a bi-directional scan tool that can communicate with the vehicle. You would need a "professional" grade like a tech2 or snap-on modis etc. You will then need to rebleed the whole system after doing the ABS, not sure if you did that?
  17. My guess is very low. Due to the change over in 07 I have seen only a handful that were black and only 2 red ones. In 2006 red was the least popular color, I've never seen another like mine in person.
  18. Looks good. Wonder do they fit old gen trucks like the SSS? I added fogs to mine.... Do you have a part number?
  19. That is 100% an exhaust leak... but I said that 11 posts ago...... ^ I would fix sooner than later... you risk burning up a valve and then your looking at a bigger bill.... just say'n.
  20. A cheap auto parts store scanner won't do the trick. Your gonna have to step up to a pro type model that can communicate with the vehicle. Most scanners are simply a reader.
  21. Looks good! I like the 06's. Hope your wife likes her new ride.
  22. Looks like you found a good guy. It's hard to find good paint and body guys. Most are a little squirley.... Due to all the fumes I'm sure! Lol
