Yeah I was talking about this with my co workers today, and its absurd how hyped up prices are now.
We brought up a potential Jeep Hellcat, and I bet thatll be in the 70k range.
That's probably the price for a decent home down here in the south, I think ill stick to my SS for a little while longer.

Id drive the hell out of that truck. Kinda looks like Chase's truck no?
That thing at least has some mods to back up the Ricyness, and I especially love the stance on it.

Looks badass

Yeah you might have. I was assuming it was from a tbss. It's really easy to tell. Pop the crank sensor and look in. If it looks almost identical to a sprocket, then it's 58 tooth. If it has gaps between the squared off looking teeth, it's 24.
Yeah theres a highly likely chance its a 24X.
Other than that, what other complications do you think ill run into? You think I can still run the LS2 intake mani, or whould I need to swap over my truck intake?
-
You might wanna do some research too, to see if it would be better to just pull the crank to swap in the 24X reluctor and swap the 4X cam sensor to your factory 1X. I don't wanna point you in the wrong direction.
Looks like I might have gotten lucky. Early Gen IV Ls2 are 1x and 24x crankshaft.
The LS2 I have is from an 06 GTO, so lets hope I got a carry over engine from 05, and be for certain, but the Lingenfer website says 06 are.
Ill have to look at the engine once I get some spare time, im praying this will be easier than expected.

I'm pretty sure they are always bolted to the crank, but the good news is, worst case you just pull it, and reinstall it with the 24 tooth wheel. Maybe see if anyone recommends the converter box that lingenfelter sells. That would be the only alternative.
All ive gathered so far is extending a knock sensor and tapping it into the block, and that reluctor wheel issue.
Also would I need to run a truck intake manifold?
How pricy and tedious would that whole reluctor wheel swap be? What does that convertor box do?

I think the years vary on whether the reluctor wheel came attached to the crank or not.
Maybe im talking out of my ass but that's what im getting from what im reading. If anything id have to take a look at the engine no?
Worst case scenario id have to buy a crank or no?

I bought those 2500$ cvs Hopefully thats a cheaper option
How are those axles holding up? I almost jumped on them as I figured I want to push some serious power, and didn't want to have to be worrying about axles in the future.
Ill keep you guys updated im actually pretty excited about this.

3/5 drop.
-
I think you and I might be starting new trends. Im in for this, lets see how far we can get, good luck boss.

So as some have said before, I just might have the lowest AWD SS around, simply because I cannot seem to find any logical reason to get rid of AWD.
Anyways, after lowering my truck "4/5" potentially lower than that, simply because I used lowering keys in the front. I recently replaced both axles in front, and about a month later they blew again, except both this time.
Started doing some research and jumped from idea to idea, as I was close to buying some 2500$ axles, to using some lousy axle spacers, even trying to lengthen my axles, to finally doing some research and finding out that NNBS front CV axles, are about 1.5 inches longer, and are a direct fit on our trucks.
Pic for reference:
So im not sure if anyone had ever mentioned this before, but I figured it would be nice to share with those who have always had to settle with a 3 inch drop in the front.
I will be swapping in axles this weekend, and seeing if I finally found a solution to my problems.
From what I read, these axles are direct fit, and even have better angles than NBS CV axles.
Anyone whos tried this feel free to chime in. Cant wait to install mine.

Hmm, you might have to extend the cam position sensor wire and knock sensor wire. I think you might have a gen 4 motor, if so I'm not positive you might have t run that lingenfelter 58x-24x conversion box. It's like a cpl hundred bucks. I didn't think about that.
Post up on pt. Those guys should def be able to help you out. I would also recommend going ahead and doing 4l80e conversion while it's down if you plan to boost it. A 60e will never last without spend a whole sh1tload on one, and even still these trucks are too heavy for them imo.
Yeah, been piecing together a 4l80 swap.
Also what do you think ill have to do as far as headers, did you have to get custom ones, or are there ones we can get off the shelves?
Im thinking probably some TBSS headers might work, what do you think?
-
Yeah man, it's pretty straight forward. Everything literally bolted into place and started up just fine. Mine was a bit more drastic since I went from a 5.3 and also did the magnacharger as well. I would go ahead and do a cam while it is out if you ever plan on one. Also consider a good billet converter. Thats what I'm in the process of roght now.
I guess im gonna pull the trigger on it then.
Im wanting to get a blower as well, still indecisive on which route to go, but I might have scored a deal on a brand new blower, but if anything I want a Jackshaft style or a Side mount.
What is this stuff I hear about some crank sensor or something being different on the LS2.
-
So no ones done the swap before?
All the info I find is giving me mixed feelings. Thanks for the help 1BAD, any info on your build since essentially its similar to what im trying to do..
-
Why?
-
550 right here! Lol.
Just pushing your buttons boss.
-
Those are some ugly wheels, that's what they are. Lol jk.

Recently got the opportunity to pick up a healthy LS2 for a price I couldn't say no to.
My question is if anyone has ever dropped an LS2 in one of our trucks?
Would the engine bolt right up, harness, tranny?
I couldn't find much info, and if so, can someone point me in the right direction.
Would the swap even be worth the gains, pros and cons?
Thanks gentlemen.

WOW..This would be pretty cool if someone on the forums would pic it up and have a pretty cool story of how they rescued this thing.
-
Congrats on your little angel.

Ive seen way worse posers, and LSx emblem is not that bad specially on the caliber of truck that an SS is.
On another note, where can I get one of these emblems, or a corvette one?
I was thinking about pulling the trigger on one, but not sure where exactly some of you mount them.

I say gun metal or black with white lettering.
I saw it on another silver birch and I fell in love. BRB, let me find some pics
-
Put a blower with some nitrous on it! That's the route ill be going
-
Spray the hell out of it!!
My fever just broke............

I know its a little off topic, because ive been trying to find a for sure answer all day, but did GM produce the Cheyenne after all?
I saw one parked out front of a dealership for a few days not to long ago.
