    Onstar

I took my SS to a dealership to have the steering shaft greased last week. So far so good with that. However, yesterday, I tried to use the Onstar phone and it wouldn't work. So then I pressed the blue Onstar button and that didn't work. I got home and called Onstar thinking they cancelled my subscription but they said I'm good till next spring. They told me they weren't even getting a signal that I had pressed any of the buttons. I told them I recently had work done on the steering wheel and could that have done anything. The person from Onstar said it may very well have. So my question, has anyone had any problems with their Onstar after having the steering shaft fixed, or just had that problem in general with it not working? I'm thinking the dealer will say it wasn't their fault and it's not covered under warranty, yada yada yada.
  2. Thank you. I did do a search but the only topic was about tar on the chrome wheels and the stuff mentioned to remove it was safe for chrome but not the paint.
  3. What's the best product to remove bits of tar? I tried that Goo Off before and though it did take off some really tiny spots, I also noticed a little red paint on the cloth so I didn't want to rub too hard to really get it off. Thanks.
  4. I, unfortunately, will miss this one. My nephew's graduation dinner is the same day Hope we can have another meet some time this summer for those of us that can't make this one.
  5. Ride my horse and do some smallmouth bass fishing.
  6. Thanks, guys! I always appreciate the advice.
  7. Thank you. I didn't want to be too forth coming with information to them but I had a problem with my 99 Tahoe a few years ago. Long story but a clunking sound/feeling started underneath the truck, especially when I gave it gas. I brought it to a dealer (not the one I bought it at), and the mechanic took a ride with me so they could hear the noise. Right away he said "That's the yoke" and he mentioned there was a new one made of copper(?), that they could order for me and that would fix the problem. He told me it would take a few weeks to order the part. I never got a call that the part came in so when I went back a few weeks later for my 3 month oil change, they said they never ordered it. I told them to please order it and let me know. Mind you, my Tahoe was still under warranty but had about 2 weeks left till the warranty expired. Once again, I go back and had an oil change or something done and told the guy at the desk that I wanted the new yoke put on. He said no problem. I go pick up the Tahoe in the afternoon and I look at the slip; nothing was listed about the yoke. I questioned the same guy and honest to God, he slaps his forehead and said "Oh that's right, you wanted that done. I forgot. I'll do it tomorrow." I couldn't make it that day and I told him I'd be in the next week. Sure enough, by this time, my warranty had expired and when I went back the same jerk said "By the way, you're warranty expired so you'll have to pay for this. It's $1,500." I said "No way. I had requested this months ago" and he told me basically that there was nothing he could do about it. I told him to forget it and that I'd never be back to them for service and that I would let Chevrolet know about it. Course nothing came of the matter but that is why I'm so leery about dealing with these service people.
  8. I'll be in Bermuda so I don't care what happens. The beach, the sun, the warmth, and a few rum swizzles and I'll be in bliss.
  9. My SS started having the clunking feeling/sound in the steering column. I am taking it to the dealer in two weeks for my three month oil change and want them to fix the problem. Being a girl, I am always leery talking to mechanics. I've been screwed in the past. Now I'm not 100% certain that it's the intermidiate steering shaft, though that's more than likely what it is. So should I tell them that I belong to this club and all the guys have had this problem at one point or another and for them to replace the part, or just say I feel and hear a noise and let them say what it is? I don't want them to just grease it, I want it replaced. Isn't there a new part now to correct this problem? To me, greasing would just be putting a band aid on the problem. I want it corrected while the truck is still on warranty. Thanks!
  10. You should check out that new movie, An American Haunting. It's based on a true story that happened in Tennessee, in 1818 (or sometime around then). I am interested in paranormal stuff and read quite a few books on it. The original story is called The Bell Witch. President Andrew Jackson was a witness to the haunting and wrote about what he saw. Not sure how accurate this movie will be but I'm going to see it tonight.
  11. Jeez, wish I had your cop a few weeks ago. I'm still waiting for my hearing date.
