  1. Culver City/Marina here...
  2. Glad your truck's back on the road. I like those wheels, Niche has some nice designs.
  3. Hi Guys Was just checking in reading the new posts and saw this one. Thanks for all the kind words, and yup that's my truck alright. Nice pic from that other G2G 12'sRock! Still have it, of course, and will have to see about making to the next local G2G. I'm located in the Culver West/Marina del Rey area, near Bartels' Harley-Davidson at the west end of the 90 Marina fwy James
  4. Remove the 2 or 3 spacers that are in each Belltech leaf pack (used to adjust the ride height in 1/2" increments) and the stock U bolts will work fine with plenty of thread.
  5. Hi All It's been a while since I've posted, but I've got an issue. I installed '05 efans earlier this year with a Nelson harness, and something I noticed pretty early on is that the lights (dash and exterior) dim slightly when the fans turn on high when the AC cycles. The truck doesn't shut down or anything, but it's annoying and looks bad. It is mostly noticable when sitting at idle, at a stoplight or parked - but is also present when driving but not as much. I can't be sure, but I think it's gotten worse over the months. The alt is charging the battery, and everything else works fine. So what should I do? Bigger alternator? Install the "big 3" grounding cables, and if so where do they go exactly? Install a new battery, possibly an Optima? (The orig battery from '03 is still in there!) Install a big capacitor inline with the fans? Something else? Thanks for any input! James
  6. The noisy lifter and general engine noise is a known LSx engine design problem with GM. I received a letter not long ago about a class action lawsuit going on about it that anyone with an LSx engine should read, here is the website with info: www.girardgibbs.com/silverado
  7. Blownchevy and JPA are the same person (Brian), JPA is the name of the shop he's at (Jeff Price Automotive).
  8. Kanan and Las Virginese (Malibu Canyon) both have tunnels.
  9. I'll be there too, and am looking forward to meeting some of the So Cal people behind SSS.com in the morning. Is there a certain area in this parking lot that we are going to be at, or will it probably be obvious? James
  10. That's quite a parking lot ding. Did you do that when you openned your door?
  11. I believe the answer to that is because the stockers are a twin tube and the Bilsteins are a single tube, or vise-versa. The mono tube is designed to be at a certain (stock) static length when installed, and if the truck is lowered then that length is altered. Alex: Which Belltech shocks did you get, the new Street Performance ones or the Nitro Actives?
  12. I've used a dent remover service once, and was pleasantly suprised at how nice it came out. You can't even see it now, and it's on a black car.
  13. For the people that are going to ask will the Bilsteins work on your lowered SSS; I called Bilstein and the answer is, for the most part, NO. However, if you only lowered the front end with spindles, which doesn't change the static ride height as far as the shock is concerned, then you can run them in front. If you lowered the rear more than 3/4" (.75"), then you can't. If I can't run the matching shock F&R, I would hesitate to use them only in front.
  14. I'll be at the first leg of the day in Calabassas with my SS, but not sure if I'll make it to the second part in Ventura/Oxnard. I invited my dad to come also, who has some nice classics/hotrods and will drive something in that will be a crowd pleaser.
  15. There's an interesting article in this month's Hot Rod Magazine about a Dotweiler 11 sec 6.0 GTO that made over 500hp at the tires. The mods consisted of, from what I recall: 122 Radix Cam very similar to the GT2-3 Custom Heads/rockers Dynatech Long Tubes/cats/pipes plus a cat back exh Meth Injection Tuning Interesting read...
  16. A 2.9 pulley plus tuning will make a big difference, and will get the boost in the 8-9 range. After that, a GT2-3 cam, 90mm TB, tuning, and efans will make it even better. Beefing up the trans is a good idea, at least a shift kit and billet/Vette servos. I have not messed with the crank pinning kit, and did not see any evidence of it slipping when I had the balancer off to swap my cam so I'm not concerned about it. The next step after all that's listed above is meth inj, or a 122, and/or maybe some head work.
  17. On mine, to get the height/stance that I was looking for, I had to trim 1 rib off the front bump stops because it was riding on them and wouldn't go any lower with torsion bar turns (in addition to the 2" spindles). The end result is 33" rear (leaf packs) and 32.5" front (2" spindles and torsion relaxing) ride heights, measured at the center of the wheel openings J
  18. I'm looking to get a Vizualogic headrest DVD monitor setup for my wife's car, and was hoping someone in the LA area might have the hookup for a good deal (Dylan, are you still around?). The local shop I used to use is no longer around, so I'm kinda lost. Please LMK if you can help, own or work at a shop, or can suggest where to go. Thanks, James
  19. The squeeling is a "Purse indicator" that was engineered into the system by Baer; If you hear it, you need to put down your purse and start using the brakes hard like they were meant to be
  20. Nice! My dad actually has those on a car, used mainly as large tips w/no disks.
  21. I agree with P: Stay away from anything made by MHT due to bad chrome that doesn't last long: Foose, Niche, Dub, Kaotic, etc. I've been told that the wheels are cast here and the chroming is done in China. It is very thin/cheap and will turn yellow, flake, pit, peel, etc.
  22. Sure! Here's a link to a Cardomain page I put together with pics and commentaries of everything I've done to the SS, for ease of sharing. Feel free to view and rate/sign the guestbook: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2515284 James
  23. HRE 22x11 with Pirelli 305/40-22 Scorpion Zeros: 70 lbs each wheel/tire
  24. Charlie did the tune in my truck, which I am very happy with it. He was able to fix the dreaded Radix "Cold stumble" problem, tune for the cam and 90mm tb, adjust the shifting, efans, etc, etc. Chase: PM me if you want his #
