  1. Driving to work this afternoon, there was a CHP mobile on the spot smog station setup on westbound Imerial Hwy in El Segundo! Complete with dyno roller, cooling fans, canopy, and CHP cruisers. People were getting flagged in/pulled over randomly it appeared. This is kind of scary, I thought they weren't doing this anymore. Beware!
  2. I used "Trim black" spray paint by SEM, available at auto body shop supply stores. It is self priming, sticks to plastic well, and has a nice satin finish. Been on for a couple years now, although I did recently repaint the bottom grille due to rock pits but the uppers still look perfect.
  3. I collect and restore pinball machines, hence my screen name "Pinball Wizzard". I've been collecting for about 15-20 years now, and currently have 25 machines in the gameroom - along wtih a Wurlitzer jukebox and a Bally slot machine. Remember games like Black Knight, Addams Family, F14 Tomcat, Medieval Madness, Attack from Mars, Terminator 2, or Fishtales to name a few? They're all here...
  4. I need to remove the door panel of an R Class, and need someone to look at a shop manual to see how it comes apart so I don't break something in the process. Thanks for any help, James
  5. Get an inexpensive and lightweight tonneau, like one of the offerings from Extang, and put the rest towards the blower.
  6. Although it is an inconveinience to get the wrong center cap ore bend a rim, look at it this way: If that's the worst thing that happens to you or your truck, consider yourself lucky - things could be a lot worse. At least your truck didn't get in a flood, fire, or wrecked.
  7. I finally got all the parts together to do the 90mm upgrade to my Radix this weekend, and decided to also do a cam swap and 05 efans install all at the same time. Started 2pm Friday afternoon until 8pm, then started again at 9am Sat when a friend lent a hand, and was running again by 4pm Sat. I used an LPE GT2-3 cam since it seems to be the majority favorite with FI, Z06 valve springs that come with the cam kit from Lingenfelter, an LS2 Corvette throttle body, and a MP122 J tube that already has the 90mm flange on it instead of chopping up the old one. The little details I needed were a TAC module, Speartech harness adaptor, the efan assembly with Nelson harness, front timing cover gasket and seal, water pump gaskets, Dexcool, red Permatex, anerobic sealer, blue throttle body gasket, and OEM throttle body and fan bolts/screws to make everything look factory. As you can see, everything came from a variety of sources so it took a while to get. I just drove it today for the first time coming to work, and even though it still needs a retune I'm pretty impressed so far. Idle is like stock or smoother, it seems more responsive and winds up faster on the street, and it pulls a lot harder at freeway speeds than before. Going tomorrow for tuning and more real world "testing", so it should be even better (I hope). Well, tuning is done and here is a few pics:
  8. Adam I still have mine sitting in the garage, and live in West LA. PM me if you still need to borrow one. James
  9. Costco has the yellow ones in a bag of 20 for around $12-13.
  10. Glad I could help. rivierakid55 also just installed a pair, and sounds like he likes them too.
  11. I really like mine, and finally have a pic. Thanks John and Glenn
  12. I bought mine from Tbyrne for a great price just over a year ago, which I probably shouldn't post here. Also try Blownchevy, he can deal too. J
  13. You need to remove those bumpstop brackets and mount the stops directly to the frame. Or leave them out completely, like I did. If not, you will constantly be hitting and the truck will ride HARD. Also, installing drop shocks is a good idea, since the stockers are very comressed now. Your U bolts will reach if you remove those 3 extra spacers that you see in the leaf pack. They don't need to be there if you want the ride height set all the way down, they are only there to add between the axle and leaf pack to adjust the ride height up in 1/4" increments (you can remove the alignment pin and shuffle them around as needed). I have one spacer on the passenger side and none on the driver side to make the truck level, and the rear ride height is 33" at the fender opening centered with the wheel (3 fingers), and 32.5" in the front.
  14. Make sure your fuel/air filters are fresh/new too.
  15. Alex My uncle has a nice 72 Blazer for sale up in the Bay Area. Do a search of my posts to see pics of it, or PM me if interested. J
  16. My daughter's first real xmas since she was only 2 weeks old for the last one, so it's all about her.
  17. I'm not working on actual Christmas or New Year, but my company is shut down for the holidays from now till the 2nd - and those of us that are here on the other days (like today) are getting TRIPLE TIME!
  18. I saw that listing. A new user with zero feedback, payment with m/o only, and private bidders = scam.
  19. This truck belongs to my uncle, but I'm helping get the word out since he's not too internet savy and busy getting ready to move. He has owned it for the last 15 years, and restored it gradually to what it is today. Very nice and normally garaged. New 400+hp 383 w/Edelbrock Performer 750, Comp Cams RV cam, HEI, 9.75:1 Keith Black pistons, 2.02 ported heads, chrome Doug Thorley Tri-Y headers, 4 speed trans, 4WD w/locking hubs, PS, PB, dual 2.25" exhaust, nice paint w/new rocker panels installed - no rust!, nice black/grey interior with highback bucket seats (driver seat has wear) and foldable rear seat, late 70's Blazer center console, bikini top, new soft tonneau cover, removable hard top, tailgate handle flushed and relocated to inside, good chrome bumpers/grille, multi amp stereo sytem, roll bar, full spray-in Rhino liner from firewall to tailgate under the carpet, truck ralley wheels with new 33" rubber, lots of new extra parts and accessories included. Orig CA truck, never off roaded hard. I can get more specifics and more pics for anyone interested. Asking $9500 obo, located in Bay Area, CA. Selling because it doesn't get driven much anymore. Thanks for looking, and happy holidays!
  20. I normally prefer the cowl, which is why I got it. However, with your unique grille the ram air might look good like the last era Camaro SS. I normally don't care for the ram air because it looks too Hemi, and the cowl is classic Chevrolet. Can't go wrong with either really
