  1. Very nice and clean design. Similar to my 645's, but a 6 spoke design.
  2. I had to do it when I did the 90mm swap, as it doesn't have coolant fittings. Not a big deal...

    is this safe

I raised the idle on mine by about 50rpm, which was enough to smooth it out. They are set too low at the factory, and this is a common complaint at Chevy.
  4. I'm expecting to get laid off any day now myself, which is the same end result as you. Work has been extremely slow for the last couple months, so I'm already looking. 11 years at a company doesn't mean a whole lot anymore
  5. Does anyone have the series on DVD that I could borrow/buy? I'm getting hooked into the show just now, and want to catch up.
  6. My friend that works at a Chevy dealer said a truck once came in because it was running like crap. Oddly enough, the owner had just installed a tbs, then was dumb enough to take it in to figure out what the problem was. Friend removed the spacer, truck ran fine again. So I'd say, save your money and effort.
  7. Wecome, and check your wallet at the door
  8. I did a GT2-3 cam and 90mm throttle body on my Radix not long ago, and noticed a nice increase in power. I have stock heads though, so can't comment on that part. Welcome to the site, BTW
  9. If you can raise the truck on a lift and remove the front wheels and fenderwells, it makes life much easier. It's been a while since I did mine, but I think we had to swing the trans crossmember out of the way to remove the stock Y pipes/cats. Dynatechs have bungs to reinstall the 02 sensors like stock. Bring the new headers in from the bottom, have a friend start the bolts, or hold the header while you start the bolts. Wasn't too bad.
  10. A 3/4" impact gun works well for that pesky crank bolt also, and you don't have to lockup the flywheel. Believe it or not, they sell one at Harbor Freight that works pretty damn good, or you can borrow one from you local ship yard
  11. I love that pic! I think you'll only get that mirror look if you put it on a buffing wheel like he did though. The next best things are Mothers Aluminum polish or a Powerball.
  12. I didn't see the new MP122 anywhere on your site. Is this avaialble?
  13. When that guy said, "It will sound better if you remove the muffler", what does he mean exactly? Louder? Lower tone? Smoother? Raspier? I don't know that I would go cutting up a $750 exhaust system based on that advice. Do you not like the way it sounds now? If not, maybe take it off and sell it in one usable piece instead of hacking it up and start over. If you liked the way it sounded until you heard that suggestion, maybe leave it alone. It looks like the 15840 system uses a dual 2.5" in/out muffler, but I'm not sure of the case length. I've heard the MF cat back on a 5.3 Av, and it had a nice smooth mellow/low tone - but was a little quiet IMO. If you want louder, a dual 2.5" in dual 3" out will do the trick nicely. That is what will fit in place of a factory SSS muffler, and is Magnaflow part #12569.
  14. Damn John, they actually treated you well compared to what happened to my buddy. He inquired on trading his super nice '04 CA edition Silverado with 34k miles, and they offered only $12k. Then he went to Carmax, who offered $14k, then he sold it PP for $17.7. The problem with selling a Silverado, or any newer domestic vehicle for that matter, is the auto mfg's have flooded the market with new vehicles by offereing rebates, incentives, employee pricing, etc. If you're not giving it away, people will just spend a little more and get a brand new one.
  15. Generally speaking, dealers offer considerably less than even KBB wholesale values on trades - but will not be shy about jacking up the price when they put it on their used lot. A slightly better alternative is go to Carmax and get an offer from them; it will be a little more than a dealer will give on trade, but a little less than you could get selling private party.
  16. A stock wheel/tire weighs about 79-80 lbs, IIRC. My forged 22" wheels w/tires weigh in at about 70 lbs each, as I believe most other do also. I have no idea what an 18" wheel would weigh in at, but it should be less
  17. I'm keeping the manifolds/cats/y-pipes "Just in case".
  18. I know an excellent tuner in Santa Clarita, near Magic Mountain, that can tune on a dyno or on the street. He uses HP Tuners with a wideband, and was able to fix some problems I had that another guy couldn't or wouldn't. PM me if interested for details, info etc...
  19. I think it's a decent looking wheel, albeit kinda big, and is very similar to the Into "Prowlers" which look great with black centers. I agree with the others though, you definetly need to lower it and loose the mud flaps. Why is the bottom of the windsheild tinted? I see snow in your area, does that help with road glare (seriously)?
  20. Check ebay completed items to see what people are actually selling them for. You can also go the ebay route for selling. Last time I sold a car with ebay, it was $25 to list the vehicle and an additional $25 if it sold. They don't charge a $% on vehicles the way they do on regular items, so it's a lot of coverage for $50. FWIW; A friend just sold his '04 "CA Edition" Silverado (not a SSS) with about 40k miles on it, extremely clean, and got $17.5k priv party.
  21. Yeah, cover up that speaker and amp! If you really had stuff to cover up, would wouldn't be able to see the shelves I can kid about it, because I had to get cabinets to hide my junk too
  22. That's the one. I also saw the new ones for $1200 complete, in the improved Rev B design.
  23. Are you certain it's the glass and not the tint? Newly tinted windows are usually very bubbly, so it might be hard to tell. If it's the glass it could be from a bad blade as the others mentioned. If it's the tint, that's easily replaced - especially since it was just applied. In any case, I would go back.
  24. Welcome, fellow Angelino. There are more than a few speed shops in Chatsworth, on Canoga I think.
