  1. One piece of advice I can offer, if this is going to be a suprise to her, make sure she does not have any candy in her mouth when you propose. I had to wait a while for her response as my gal almost choked to death she was so suprised
  2. As I recall, the intercooler pump is relayed off the fuel pump circuit. So if it was working fine in the past, then the relay has probably gone bad. The relays are pretty generic, you could probably find them at an autoparts store. A real autoparts store, that is. I don't know that a Pep Boys or Kragen type place would have it, but they might. If this is a new install, check your wiring to make sure you tapped into the correct circuit. It needs to be a line that goes off when the engine goes off (just like the stock fuel pump).
  3. Why gut the cats in the first place? They are not the huge restriction you may think they are. There are plenty of other mods that will get you more HP to the ground.
  4. I don't want to hear the rest of that story...
  5. Speaking of Moderating... Let's watch the language there LeftCoast
  6. If my truck started leaning to the left, I would just put some Rush Limbaugh on the radio till it started leaning back to the right
  7. If you are buying it from somebody you trust, then those methods work. But othewise, it is like putting cash in the envelope. No recourse if you don't get your stuff.
  8. I find the boost/vacuum gauge to be better. Think of it as a wider range that you can view. With a supercharger, you are still running a vacuum most of the time. You only see boost when you are really getting on the throttle. One of the things I finde useful with the vacuum side of the scale, is trying to keep the vacuum reading as high as possible when trying to drive for best MPGs. When using the boost side of the scale... well who cares about MPGs then
  9. Not to start the cabling argument again, but if you are of the "cheap cables are just as good" line of thinking, these guys sell HDMI cables cheap, and they do work just fine. www.monoprice.com On the HD vs Blu-Ray war, I think it may be going in favor of HD DVD. Blu-Ray is better technology, but HD-DVD is cheaper, and for better or worse, it seems that price will probably decide the issue. The prices of the HD-DVD players have been dropping rather quickly of late, enough to tempt me to buy one, and take the chance it might become obsolete. Blu-Ray needs to respond soon with some cheaper players if they want to keep in the game. I am also rather anti Sony. I have had bad luck with some of their products, and have been appalled by their root kit spyware fiasco. Sony is no longer on my preferred vendor list
  10. Canon is a very respectable maker of digital cameras. If the model suits your needs, I don't see how you could go wrong. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canons3is/
  11. Anybody else cracking up about these newscasters in their fake fireman's jackets, googles and dust masks? Even the media rep from the fire department doesn't get that carried away. Meanwhile, the locals to the side of them are hanging out in T-shirts.
  12. Actually, just for complaining about it, I will add another 10% Just kidding.
  13. I always thought the law was, that opposites attract
  14. Never heard of such a thing, or even thought of that. But it is a cool idea. Now that you mention it, it would be a great use for the otherwise useless OnStar mic and speaker, make it a built in hands free headset
  15. If your friend is in California, it will not be "smog legal". On pollution controlled vehicles, engine swaps must be of the exact same type/size engine or an engine from a newer "smog legal" vehicle. Replacement Parts Guidelines - Aftermarket, Performance
  16. You could tow a smaller 5th wheel trailer, but keep in mind a 5th wheel hitch means cutting holes in the truck bed and usually brackets sticking up when the hitch is removed. There is more to towing capacity than engine power. Everything from frame strength to brakes come into play. You need to do your home work before buying a trailer, it is suprisingly easy to exceed the GVWR of a half ton truck. Towing capacity of an 05 SS is 8,100 lbs and combined vehicle weight (trailer, truck, people, gear, etc) limit is 13,000 lbs. Also, when shopping for a trailer, the Dry Weight quoted is almost worthless, as it does not include a lot of standard items. It is best to use the GVWR of the trailer as your guide to it's weight. Go to this website and study: www.rvtowingtips.com For reference when looking at that site, my 03 SS weighs 5238 lbs total (just the truck, no people) 3163 lbs front 2075 lbs rear. I tow a 4,500-5,000 lb trailer. An 8% grade won't slow me down
  17. Once I went to the Dr to get my head examined, and he didn't find anything. But seriously, it is what they have been saying for years: Don't smoke Drink in moderation Keep the weight down Cut the cholesterol/fats in your diet Get good cardio excercise vdrumright - you might be encoraged by this article: Exercise may generate new blood vessels
  18. The old TRS-80 was my first computer. My sisters would scream when I turned it on, as it would turn half the available channels on the TV to static Back in the good old days before FCC certification I really hated loading those programs from cassete too. But with that cool port modem that ran at a blazing 300 baud, I could login to the college computers and not have to go there in person to use them That was back in the day when you would have to wait in line to get a terminal to use the computer
  19. That must have been me I pass by there most days on my bike (to get my workout ride on the river trail) and see your truck in the parking lot. I always wondered if that SS was on the board here. I am usally a bit hesitant to put those cards on peoples trucks, because I hate those parking lot flyers that people put on my truck, but I figure that the SS cards are for a common interest, not just trash advertising.
  20. I like to keep on there. You never know what new species might be discovered!
  21. Do you mean Steve Jobs? Bill Gates is probably laughing
  22. Just socket wrenchs, regular wrenches, WD-40 and a pair of vice-grips to hold the shaft on the front shock while you loosen the nut and a jack to raise the truck to a convienient height while you install the new shocks in the back. Summit racing has them, $75 each. 33012 33010
  23. No way to count how many full throttle runs I have done It has been less for the last year and a half, since I don't commute to work any more (working from home ). But once or twice a week would be a good guess.
  24. 60-something K miles, all but the first 2,500 have been supercharged. Still on the original transmission. I think where people run into problems is when they start reducing the Torque Managment on the 'puter. I did manage to toast my cats, though, due to an over rich "pre-CARB" certification tune I was unwittingly running.
