  1. Mine has not failed, but when it was first installed, it did not have power due to a missing fuse. I drove it around for a while, and even took it to the track once (and as you might imagine, was dissapointed by the time ). I doubt it would cause any problems, other than reduced performance. It would mess up the tune, since the IAT is measured before the intercooler.
  2. The Tru-Cool looks like a nice choice. Back when I did mine, I used a B&M 70274 SuperCooler rated at 29,200 BTU 11"x11" Since I do not like hoses, I cobbled together the fittings needed to make hard lines to the new cooler. Thread on the install: Installed my B&M Transmission Cooler
  3. Interesting shop that you have the SS at. Looks like a yellow 60's Mustang back there, some other yellow exotic car, a black 60's car and your black SS. Do they keep the same colored cars together on purpose in that shop Oh, I am up to about 70,000 miles on my Magnacharger. I guess I am having a bit better luck than you ;)
  4. What is even funnier, is if you have been here a really long time, you will see this come up once and a while Am I getting old or what ?
  5. Post around on the forums. You may be able to find somebody who is ditching their cats who will sell them to you fairly cheap.
  6. I think it looks a whole lot better than a Prius. There is some similarity in shape, but the Volt actually has some style to it, whereas the Prius is just plain boring looking. The Volt is not as good looking as the concept, but still pretty good. As for making it a hybrid, this is a step up from the Prius as well. The drive train is pure electric, with a gas engine to generate electricity when extended range is needed. That overcomes the biggest obstacle to eletric cars, the "what good is it when I need to drive furhter than the batteries last" problem.
  7. I would love to hear him saying that. Half the fun is his delivery. Edit > I guess I won't because it was not actually from Cleese http://www.snopes.com/politics/satire/revocation.asp
  8. You may want to add a switch or jumper to the intercooler pump so you can run the coolant around while the engine is off. This will help remove heat from the intercooler and to some extent the superchager itself. I have seen people put ice packs on their superchargers to cool things down between runs.
  9. I got my helmet at Cycle City in Lake Forest (5 Fwy and El Toro Rd). I figured that being able to try them on was worth the extra $$ over buying online.

  11. Well, if it won't run right, then just go places that are to the left. It will probably clear up as the engine re-learns. But cleaning the MAF probably would not hurt.
  12. On my 03, they are 2.5 inch pipe size. When my cats started going bad, I was looking at Random Technology metal matrix converters, that are supposed to be pretty cool and high flow. http://www.randomtechnology.com (website is not that great, best to call) But as I talked to the tech guy there, he said I may need an extra gizmo on the O2 sensor to keep the Check Engine light from coming on with the CA emmisions standards. So all in all, it sounded like I might be spending some bucks and not getting as "good as stock" emmissions performance, which could run into some trouble come Smog Check time. So in the end, I bought some used cats from a fellow SilveradoSS.com memeber who was going Cat-less. That worked out cheap and I have not had an issue since. This spring I get to go meet the tail pipe sniffer and see how it is doing.
  13. It is leagal to use a cell phone in CA, however, it must be a hands free.
  14. Kelly Blue Book gives these Private Party Sale values for my 03 with 60,000 miles (does not account for the supercharger) Condition: Excellent $19,055 Good $17,920 Fair $16,455 Bumping the milage up to 100,000 gives this: Excellent $14,715 Good $13,595 Fair $12,150
  15. In my opinion, Blu-Ray players are still in Beta test. I have some Blu-Ray disks that won't play properly. Seems like every time I buy a new disk, I have to get another firmware upgrade for my player. What a mess. A PS3 is probably the best choice as it is more easily updated and has more CPU horsepower to handle all the stuff the keep adding to the Blu-Ray standard. The saddest thing is, a good upconverting standard DVD player looks about 3/4 as good as Blu-Ray.
  16. A couple years ago, I recall there was a somebody on performancetrucks.net, who worked out a DIY way to take the compressor side air and route it through an air to air intercooler. I don't recall if it worked well or not. Edit- Here is a place to start looking for that First INTERCOOLED Whipple Supercharger on a 5.3L!!! Looks like a guy there called METAL MAN made one.
  17. By and large, plasma burn in concerns are a thing of the past. Unless you are going to display airline schedules 24/7, you don't need to worry about it. On a couple of occasions, I have accidentally left my plasma on with a paused screen for several hours, with no harm done.
  18. I have the 50" version of that Panasonic Plasma from last year. So far I am happy with it. About the only draw back is sometimes I get light reflecting on the screen. If your room is fairly dark, then no worries about that. I chose plasma over LCD for the better color they make and the fact it looks the same from all viewing angles. A good place to check up on any HD-TV stuff is www.avsforum.com?
  19. I put one in a month after I got my truck, back in 03. It has held up great, and it is the best way to haul around a B-52
  20. I would say that in real world driving, the fans are good to have. They cool down the fluid much quicker when you are at a stop light. Stop and go is what is fun with a Radix. Without fans, you don't get the kind of air-flow you need to cool the heat exchanger unless you are on the freeway. I also made some ducting from Corrugated Plastic "coroplast" to direct air from the lower grill opening, through the heat exchanger This is my bigger trans-cooler
  21. I have most of the Clannad catalog, and that does not sound like one of theirs to me. Sounds like some good tradtional Irish music, though.
  22. Daniel 1:12 Daniel and other Israelites taken captive by Babylon, are put into 'training' to be officials in the Babylonian court. Genisis 1:27 Mankind seems to be given only vegtables for food (one could argue this is not meant to be a complete list of what is allowed). On the flip side.... Genisis 9:1 After the Flood, God appears to expand the diet of mankind: Luke 24:41 Jesus eats meat. Here in Luke he tries to dispell the diciples fear that he is some kind of ghost by eating some fish. Like most things, the truth seems to be somewhere in between. Pure vegans have to be very careful to get enough protein in their diets. Pure carnivores (or even just heavy meat eaters suffer from increased risk of disease, like heart disease). These days, scientists consider the Mediterranean diet to be the healthiest. It features plenty of fruits and vegetables, and some meat. Our American diet, heavy on meats and sugars is full of bad effects like heart disease and diabetes and obesity. As for PETA, being kind to animals is great, but equating animals with humans is wrong. I suppose if you are an evolutionist, then you would say we are all just animals, but that is not what I believe.
  23. Plasma Check out these forums: www.avsforum.com? http://www.highdefforum.com/ This is more satellite TV based, but has lots of info on HD TV too www.dbstalk.com If you are interested in calibrating your screen, the Datacolor Spyder3TV does a fairly good job. I have one, and it is limited by what controls you may have to adjust your set. Other than that, it is great for getting things adjusted. I also have the version for calibrating computer monitors, and love that product. I wish there was the ability to finely tune the HD-TV the way a PC monitor can be calibrated. http://spyder.datacolor.com/product-ht-s3tv.php
