  1. I don't think Mr. P would want to be known as a "Tranny Guru". A Transmission Guru, perhaps. But not a Tranny Guru ;)
  2. Did you try taking out the bulbs and re-seating them? They seem to arc and loose contact. Darn dealer wants $60 for a new socket (part only)! What a racket, make a defective part, and charge outrageous prices for replacments!
  3. 6 liters = .211888 cubic feet divide by two (4 stroke engines only breathes in every other revolution) =.10594 cubic feet per engine RPM so.... at 3000 RPM the engine flows 318 cfm at 5000 RPM the engine flows 530 cfm at 6000 RPM the engine flows 636 cfm That little fan cannot even keep up with the naturally aspirated flow of the engine, let alone provide an increase. Also, fans of that sort do not work when trying to compress air.
  4. That's what I was thinking... loose parts flying through the intake?
  5. A little JB Weld and it will be good to go ;)
  6. Historically, Chevy has used the SS name as it pleased. Intially as a performance package, then as a appearance package. The Impala was the first SS made and this is how it was used: Chevrolet Impala History
  7. Just giving you a hard time It is all good in Yosemite
  8. "Grueling"? ;) The top of Vernal falls is a pleasant 3 mile (round trip) hike, Nevada falls is a relaxed 7 mile day hike. Now Half Dome would be considered grueling at 17 miles. Nice pictures, by the way. We were going to try and go back to Yosemite this spring, but it has not worked out Real hard to get reservations for campgrounds there. View from the top of Half Dome:
  9. You can also go to "My Controls" and then in the "Options" section "Manage Ignored Users"
  10. How big is the trailer? It seems that frontal area (aerodynamic drag) is the determining factor for flat land MPG, no so much weight. I got an average of 10 mpg over a ~1000 mile trip last fall, hauling my 5000 lb trailer. That included mountains and flat driving, and I kept it 55-60 mph (55 is the speed limit when towing in California). By the way, U-haul has a pretty spotty reputation. If you use them check the trailer out real good before taking it. Google up "U-Haul problems"
  11. My Ibex Asta When it comes to road vs mountain, I go both ways Get my daily workout on the road tires, and my fun riding in the dirt
  12. I think you missed how the CryO2 is supposed to work. Still a bother having to refill bottles. Also, it is more suitable for Air-to-Air intercoolers, as it can cool the intake air directly through the heat exchanger. In an Air-to-Water system (like the Radix), it takes a while to cool and circulate the liquid. It could still work, you would just be spraying prior to the run.
  13. There was a company working on making a system for GM trucks a few years ago. Seems to have dissapeared. http://www.decolabs.com/ Website seems to be down or no longer around.
  14. It is a interesting controversy... Event Data Recorders: Frequently Asked Questions Black boxes capture car-crash data, controversy
  15. Unless you have one of those hybrid capacitors made from carrots, it is a farad, not a farrot
  16. Would not work for me. I work from home The only gas involved in my commute is "passed".
  17. That would really put the "gross" in being over your "gross vehicle weight"!
  18. I find that 78% pure nitrogen is good enough.
  19. So if I don't drink beer at all, does that mean I get infinite MPG? 900 / 0 = infinity
  20. Since you only have one county that requires testing, I would guess it is not too tough to pass (compared to the police state that I live in). Long tubes do relocate the cats further from the engine, which, in theory, will reduce their effectivness. But probably not in any real way. Do you have any info on the cats you installed? If they are ODB-II rated, you should be fine. About the only hitch might be if they do visual inspections of your emmissions equipment. It is actually illegal to replace your cats unless the old cats are truely bad (EPA Federal law). So they might question your replacing them on such a new truck. Best bet is to study up on the laws in your area. BTW, one trick for helping with passing tail pipe sniffs is to be sure your truck is well warmed up.
  21. The ad says they are not recommended for ODB-II vehicles, which the SS is. For a few bucks more, that same vendor sells a Magnaflow Cat that is ODB-II rated. Plus they don't have that ugly air tube hanging off the side, which you don't need. Ebay MagnaFlow Cat $55.57 each At MagnaFlow's website (actually Car-Sound, MagnaFlow's parent company) here is the spec page: CarSound Specs for the 94106 General specs"]General Specs FUNCTION 3-Way ENGINE LIMIT 378 CID/6.2L
  22. I have a 2003 and 60K miles. I figure mine is due to die anytime now. I have noticed it looking a bit damp around the seams, which is not a good sign. I will go with an Optima red top. My last truck had a red top, and I never did get to see just how long it would last, but it was lasting better than any standard wet cell I ever had.
  23. Still, it is only one kill. Those Mini's only count as .5 each
