  1. Yup, kinda tough when the Lightning guys are talking pulleys swaps and they actually improve the performance markedly! Factory boosted vehicles seem to sure have the "bang for your buck" mods covered, and cheaply! Where are the SyTys of 2009 and beyond..? ;)
  2. I agree. Even a couple simple mods on a Lightning and it's a faster truck than many would think, IMO anyways....
  3. Nah, I called YOU on a blatant lie. You were "running beside a STAGE # SRT4 and you BOTH WENT from a roll up into triple digit speeds. You not only BEAT the 12 second car with your barely modded truck, the poor idiot with the Dodge also BLEW HIS ENGINE while losing to you! Just drop it. You probably raced a slug stock Neon with a decal or two that was obviously a POS or the race nevr happened, or...? Who knows. Your truck did NOT beat a stage 3 SRT4. Simple. And for you to post the "kill" as "not that big of a deal" was what got your EARNED response.
  4. LOL Same thing I thought when I read his first post.....
  5. That's a good kill, a stock Charger R/T should be mid to low 14s....
  6. I had a 1963 Comet S22 with a 260 V8, four speed and 9" rear with 13" wheels. Kinda weird, but the only Ford product we owned.... my brother OR me...
  7. It was a combination of me and a buddy. I actually found the shell with interior for less than a grand PAINTED. I had a 327 from a Cutlass I owned and a set of mags, that's how that car started... The car (painted, with nice black interior no frame) we swapped for stuff worth much less than $1000.... I bet about $500 worth of stuff. It's a 1969. 1968 Chevelles have the side wing windows in the doors, 1969 they went to one piece glass. (Astro Ventilation) We built a bunch of Chevelles in our early days. I did most of the work, and he mostly drove. Funny how that worked. LOL That car above was 12.84 at 104mph at S.I.R. in the early 1980s.
  8. How many ignition leads are you gonna pull? LOL
  9. BTW- Granite comes in different ways as well... we went with 1 1/2" granite, and it is THICK AND HEAVY. Most granite countertops I have seen are only 3/4" thick, with the edges doubled up and glued together, so the edge LOOKS like 1 1/2" granite. Granite needs maintenance as well....
  10. I went with all Maytag years and years ago, they have been pretty good. That being said I remember on a MoPar forum there were a few guys who HATED Maytags. LOL Maybe I got a flukey GOOD batch, who knows. I would suggest that whatever brand you end up with- have a good look at ovens with a convection oven built in. We love ours...
  11. I've only owned one pickup truck my whole life, strangely. It was a hopped up 440 2x4bbl 1978 ClubCab work truck with one ton suspension that moved pretty good, the guys on another Chevy forum called it "SuperTruck" and that name stuck with the truck as long as I owned it.... LOL
  12. Hi Dad! Look what I'm building now!!!!!!
  13. Well MY Dad absolutely HATED Domestics. He was into mid engined imports, or before that he had Datsun 1600 and 2000 roadsters, that kinda thing. The more he tried to get me to hate domestics and the more he tried to get me to like imports, the more I loved domestics! LOL I remember seeing a brand new SuperBird in 1970 and pointing it out to my Dad. He hated the car, and let me know how stupid he thought it was. I've loved weird and crazy domestics- ANY brand- since! He hated big back tires too, if you notice most of my cars over the years have been Pro Street cars.... LOL
  14. LOL I took my 1978 Dodge work truck to the Delphi Forums Chevy Xtreme meet years and years ago when the "kills" threads were getting silly. Funny stuff! I then got to know the guys really well, and eventually brought out Mr. Motorhome to race a guy with a ZQ8... that was his posting name.... he got me by a door before we shut off. I think I surprised him LOL We posted all about it, we laughed, and we became friends. Sometimes all it takes is a "track day", or a meet etc and a great group of guys are formed... IMO anyways. ;)
  15. Can't wait to hear/see the finished product.
  16. Is that not a common problem on some of the modular Ford engines? I have heard of plugs pulling out of the factory heads for years, it is surprising to me it wasn't a recall to be honest.... I never heard of a Lightning pulling plug threads but I guess it shouldn't be a surprise. LOL! Now THAT's the attitude!!!!!!
  17. Is it similar to if the block's deck height was too high??? Is it common with a thick composite gasket, certain aftermarket heads, or..? Great buildup pics. Nice work.
  18. HEY! Don't force me to like you even MORE! I'm just giving them a rib now and then. I even stuck up for Corvettes on my MoPar site last week, time and time again, cause the "Corvettes suck" guys were posting... LOL I gotta say, many think I was born and raised in a Mopar, but I have built more than my fair share of Chevies, starting back in the 1970s.... I like CARS and TRUCKS... not just brands! ;) Late 1970s/ early 1980s this is what I lived in on and under....
  19. I think he was TRYING to pick on me cause I'm a Dawrdge guy, but all's good! I got a REAL thick skin! Haha! (edit- This is what I thought he was mad about.... >>>>and the bs flag is being called allredy. if a dodge didnt beat its not true lol<<<< which I never said..... LOL ) The 1999 and up Lightnings are low 14 second trucks from what I have seen at the track for sure. The one I raced wasn't stock, I have no idea if it was JUST Flowmasters or if it had any other mods, but it behaved like it should- it pulled on my wife's low 14 second Magnum R/T slowly but surely every time we raced. I remember on a Delphi forum for Chevy Xtremes years ago a guy said he bolted a set of Corvette rallye rims on his Xtreme and then promptly went out, ran a Corvette through a bunch of corners and BEAT the Corvette through the corners. He had a bunch of guys laughing on him, but he was adamant. I read, but to be honest, I didn't really care. I've seen a whole bunch of weird internet stories in the "kills" forums over the years for different sites, I've seen the "Chevy sucks", " Ford sucks" and "MoPar sucks" by the midlets over the years. Doesn't matter the brand, I just roll my eyes. EVERY time. LOL I like vehicles, not outlandish story telling, and if a weird outcome happens once in awhile, so be it. (I don't know how many remember my "work van vs Porsche" thread from years sgo ;) ) It's the internet. I read it with a smile! haha
  20. I think those Lightnings really take to mods like pulleys and such. For stock or very lightly modded trucks they are pretty darned impressive. The first gen Lightnings weren't quite as quick, and seem to cause a bit of confusion from time to time... but the second gen Lightnings earned a decent reputation IMO... Did you mod her Lightning for her, did she buy it that way or..?
  21. I couldn't agree more. The trap speed is too low, the ET doesn't really matter as mush, it could be attributed to all sorts of things, but the MPH figures should be higher. It might be a dumb question but does the radix HAVE to be ran with a MAF? Can it be ran with a MAP setup? If it's a factory EFI ECU can it be piggybacked, or?
  22. HERE! Another street driven Hemi by another buddy of mine who got kicked off the track first run for a 169mph first pass. The tech guys didn't think he was funny! Imagine that.... Better? Haha!
  23. First gen Lightnings were N/A, they didn't have a supercharger... Where is Showtime, he'll know!
  24. I'm also not sure you even read what I wrote before jumping to conclusions.... I clearly wrote the Lightning WAS PULLING ON ME. If we were side by side or if there was room he would have gone right past me. Hello??? Haha
