  1. I'm gettin to be MORE of a weirdo.... I tore it all down, tossed some parts and machining at it, now I'm tossing it back together... hopefully it will be able to get out of it's own way now.... lol
  2. MUCH different experiences! I street raced all the time, 12 second Mustangs were simple bolt on cars where I am from. A late model GT Mustang is a very high 13 / low 14 second car stock at my track, bolt ons will put it low 13s high 12s with ease. There are dozens of mild 12 second Mustangs at my track. No nitrous, no blowers, usually just tuners, exhaust and drag radials or slicks.
  3. Type in 12 second Mustang GT into Google or Youtube, TONS of cars running 12s with minor mods... This car has a tuner, slicks, and exhaust basically. I don't even think it's a quick one, it's just the first one that came up!
  4. My buddy ran a Mustang GT back in the early 90s with mild bolt ons and spray, 11.55 at 115mph. It was his winter beater, not a ton of effort. My buddy had a 96 Impala SS that ran all the time, his BEST time dead stock was 15.3 at close to 90mph. That's at Mission Raceway, which is very near sea level. Our track is considered a "fast" track... A brand new Mustang GT is much faster than that, let alone a "MODDED" GT Mustang. I just don't get it...?
  5. I'm no mustang guy, but I've ridden in my fair share of Impala SSs and have a buddy who took his to the track regularly, his was bone stock also. I gotta ask.... what does your Impala SS run at the track??!?! Many of my buddies have Mustang GTs as winter beaters, with VERY mild mods many are in the 12s......
  6. Take a look at most Viper's 60 foot times. Even dead stock Viper times. Unless you come across a guy who doesn't drive very well, you'll be in trouble in the first 25 feet. LOL
  7. Was your buddy in a 5.7 Dodge? If so you had BETTER of beat him at 135 mph, because the 5.7s are speed limited to 126mph, they shut down. It woulda looked like he hit the brakes! Ask me how I know.... LOL Most 5.7 Magnums at our track are running low 14s stock, with a jumper wire for the fans many run 13.8-13.9... and top end they would be tough to stay with especially in a truck.. I've raced many a time on the highway in my wife's Magnum, a whole variety of vehicles.
  8. 350ci Camaros were decent, the 305 not so much IMO. Any body GUESSING his horsepower shouldn't mean much. Don't put much thought into CLAIMS, that's my train of thought...
  9. I wrapped a set of 390 AMC headers in my buddy's Javelin, two years later we took the engine out, I grabbed a header tube and it collapsed in my hand. We removed the wrap and most of the header tubes near the collector were paper thin, we could crush several between our fingers. NASTY! Are you SURE there isn't a small header gasket leak or collector gasket leak?
  10. The BIG problem for the regular cab SRT10s are the launch and the 1-2 shift. Both the regular cab and the Quad Cab SRT10s would be at a great advantage if allowed to run from a 30mph roll.... that's the territory a Chevy SSS is best at. LAUNCH! Take away the performance advantage of AWD, or minimize it, and it's in the SRT10's advantage for sure, IMO. An SRT10 could break loose from 30mph, especially depending on the surface that's being raced on.
  11. I don't even own a PICKUP TRUCK anymore. What does that have to do with anything, I sure don't know! Driving a Quad Cab SRT10 doesn't take a genius to figure things out, launch the truck as best as possible and floor the gas pedal. Not tooooo much skill involved IMO. Driving a regular cab SRT10 is a different story, but the guys who have it down pat can run pretty quick times with a dead stock SRT10. It's pretty easy to get a rookie to drop the clutch and go up in smoke in a regular cab SRT10 too, but these other guys are posting they come out of the hole about the same. YOUR truck with YOUR mods I can see running with a decently driven SRT10, but stock-ish trucks with mufflers and CAIs I have to doubt. It just doesn't make sense, to me at least.
  12. The thing I find odd is that YOUR mods on your truck should be a good match for an SRT10, the guys posting these "kills" have trucks that I don't see how they are in your league...??? I would think either you or an SRT10 would be able to walk past these guys from the mods they claim to have, especially if the two trucks got a fairly "side by side" launch...???
  13. I've watched the Dakota R/T and Lightning guys results for years, these track meets are usually pretty fun! I once went to a Chevy Xtreme meet in my 1978 one ton ClubCab work truck, I raced the two fastest Xtremes from the forum.... AT THE SAME TIME! lol We were three abreast..... funny stuff!
  14. We've had a bit of snow too this winter. Here's my brother's car. Not bad eh?
  15. Did you bottle your truck right out of the hole?
  16. I can't see how you guys are keeping up with these mid 13 second vehicles with very few mods. Up to 50 or 60 even...?!?!?! Weird.
  17. I thought stock TBSSs were frequently dipping into the 13s at many tracks, unless I'm mistaken. A very low 14 for a dead stock TBSS is pretty danged respectable IMO, lots of factors involved in getting the "best" times I bet...
  18. Whatever you do don't LOSE! All the money for finishing your house will end up getting pumped into your truck trying to beat the guy!
  19. On SOME vehicles it's the other way around. The IPC connector on a Dodge minivan can prevent a minivan from starting all by itself, and the guages will all drop to zero.. The Vette I'm not sure of....
  20. Sounds to me like a possible poor electrical connection, the anti-theft AND the gauges. Is there a plug in moldex connector to the dash pod that you can remove and force on again, trying to make a better electrical connection..?
  21. If the Camaro is 6162cc and has 426hp I can't help but think it shoulda been an SRT8 Challenger too. What gives?
  22. I think the performance, price and bang for the buck are decent, but most of my diehard Chevy buddies don't like the looks at all. I don't mind the new Camaro from certain angles, but from other certain angles it's not my favorite.
  23. I'm truly astonished, with those mods I wouldn't think you would be close to an SRT8 Jeep. Have you ever ran your truck at a track? You would have to be mid 12s by your description of the race I would guess..???
  24. What is "fully bolted"? Sounds like something is funny if you have a tune and an intake?
  25. OK... I'm the MoPar guy here... but isn't it.... Chevy Xtreme?!
