  2. Parked the truck last night around 8:00PM and didn't come out of the house again untill 2:00PM today. I push the unlock button on the key-fob and notice the door lock makes the sound it always does when the door is already unlocked. Idiot, I think to myself, you left the truck unlocked all night. I open the door to the console ransacked, papers everywhere and the wire from my mp3 player lying in the passenger seat. Bam, it hits me. I'm pissed, but I got stuff to do, so I take off. Ran into a police officer while running my errands and get to talking to him about what to do since its obviously not a 911 call. We both walk out of the store together and he takes a look at the "scene". This is the first time I notice the hole under the door handle trim piece. They jammed something under the door handle trim and jimmied the lock. Now I gotta get the door damage repaired, replace my mp3 player and the cel phone the b'tards stole. The officer was really cool and told me he liked the truck and gave me the number to call to file the report. Called the PD and they sent out an officer to take the report. He tells me that the whole neighborhood got hit last night. A bunch of "smash and grabs". So, I'm out $179 for the mp3 player, my walkman cel phone ($50 to replace with insurance) and the damage to the door panel (price unknown, but probably gonna be $$$). Story of my life.
  3. For that amount of money, you could find a stainless steel Corsa Sport exhaust system with tip!
  4. I wouldn't make her pay for it. It would be something different if she wrecked the truck or was hotrodding and something broke. But a glass top flying off? That's not through any fault of hers.
  5. Stock tune. He said it is also kicks down and then immediately back up off of a turn. All of this is is while driving sanely. He doesn't beat on his truck, like I do.
  6. You'll perceive a performance improvement with the CAI, but on a stock engine you probably aren't really gaining much if anything. I like the sound of the open element CAI vs the stock air box. Kind of an "old school" 4BBL sound when you put your foot in it. Every time someone asks me if I could tell any difference before and after, I just reply "It sounds good".

I bought a driver side hub/bearing assembly from them and it was a Timken part. The factory uses Timken also. I paid $100 for the hub vs $500+ from the local dealer. I had a good experience and think they are legit!
  8. What would be the ride quality difference between the Edelbrock, Bilsteins and the stock shocks? My truck rides pretty rough with the stock shocks. I wouldn't want to go stiffer.
  9. Hey, I've got a friend whose Avy is downshifting early when he is slowing. It shifts into first and the revs jump up. Kinda like pulling the gear shift down to L1. Any ideas what the cause may be?
  10. I bought a front wheel hub assembly for my '06 SS from this guy. This e-bay add is for the same price that I paid and it was the correct part for my truck. FYI: The same part from the Chevy house was over $500! SAE Parts
  11. The wife had a 98 Buick GS with the supercharger. That thing had some boogie. I took it to the Texas Motorplex drags on a street night and ran a 14.8 1/4. Don't remember the speed.
  12. One word, Corsa! I thought I heard recently that they were gonna start offering the muffler alone??!?!?
  13. I didn't see it mentioned before, but have you considered the Kawasaki KFX700? I have the Kawie KFX700 and love it. Its the best of both worlds. Its a sport quad with long travel suspension, but CVT tranny and shaft drive so no chains/sprockets to service/replace. Good ground clearance. Jumps well. Does well in the mud that I ride in (I don't go for the handlebar deep holes, I try to avoid them). It works well over big rocks with the extra ground clearance (the auto tranny comes in handy too). I'm a big guy (6'1" 240lbs) and its a perfect fit for me. The seat is huge and gives me plenty of room to shift my weight around unlike alot of the 400-450cc quads. It runs close to 70 mph on the street and is one of the most stable quads I have ever ridden. My friends ride dirt bikes and they're always amazed at the places I'm able to take this thing when we get together. This is a link that I bookmarked back when I was shopping for my quad. Its an in-depth test of the KFX700 by atvscene.com. It used to have a video, but the link didn't work when I tried it. KFX 700 test drive
  14. Several times I've been asked, "Does that have the 454 engine in it?".
  15. I'll give it another try. I still don't think they are as tight as they should be. Every time I put on the brakes, the pedal seems too soft. It feels like the fronts are doing too much of the braking. Yesterday my son and I went out riding on our ATV's and when I was driving into the riding area, I braked kinda hard for a washout in the road and the front tires started to skid.
  16. So much for surfing stealth while the family sleeps! I think I just woke up the whole house with my hysterical laughing! We need an emoticon with milk shooting out the smilies nose! That would say it all!
  17. Did any body watch the whole video? They had Tyrese Gibson from Transformers and Kid Rock in the video! OK, so maybe it wasn't them. But it dang sure looked like 'em.
  18. Does anyone know the proper way to adjust the rear drum brakes on these trucks? I just replaced the brake shoes on my '06 and want to make sure that I did it right. I backed the adjuster out until it just contacted the shoes and used the old school back-up-and-tap-the-brake-pedal technique, but I'm not sure if that is the correct way or not.

  22. Found one on e-bay for $99.99. Bought it from this seller: SAE Parts.
  23. I called the Chevy dealership and got part #15863442; price $506.44! Googled part number above and got hits for parts FW313, FW283 and 10393164. WTF! I priced the 4wd pieces and they are cheaper than the 2wd pieces. I did find the part on e-bay for $99, but am nervous about the huge swing in price. Any advice/experiences?
  24. Anybody know the part number for the front wheel hub/bearing assembly? I think I've got a bearing going out and would like to know the part # so I can shop for a good price on the internet. My truck is 2wd. Thanks!
  25. I did an exchange with Lakeshore Wheel and Tire on my 03 Dodge Dakota where they sent me the chromed version of my factory wheels and I sent back the wheels from my truck in exchange. I was very satisifed with the quality of the chroming. Here are a couple of pics after installing the chromed stockers:
