Well because basically Kendall at the Toy shop (really cool guy BTW) said that whatever went wrong with the tranny before when they fixed it, probably had something to do with whatever went wrong with the tranny now. Kendall said he drove it, that the shifts were set WAYY too hard, and that the line pressure for the shift kit and the programming of the truck were jacking the shifts up too much, and could have possibly broken the output shaft at anytime. He said hes surprised the 1-2 shift didnt break anything yet. Since the tranny was only repaired last time, they said they would need to overhaul the entire thing this time to make sure it doesnt happen again. To be honest, theres no way in hell I am dropping $2200-2300 for an overhaul right now. So Kendall is hooking me up with a guy he knows to get the tranny replaced on the GM warranty, and I can have them throw in a shift kit and re-use the converter (if possible) because they said that might be bad, but they arent sure. I will be hearing from them later today, so I am keeping my fingers crossed I will have my truck back hopefully soon.
  2. Yeah I just might do that. I will probably have another shift kit installed... i that case, I always hear about the 'zippy' shift kit.. which I am assuming is from you How much do you charge for one? Also, when using a shift kit, do I need to re-program the torque management, or does the shift kit tranny programming do enough already?
  3. Well this sucks. 3200 miles after buying the truck from Dylan, the damn tranny goes out. I was getting off the freeway by my house, just cruisin along, and when the tranny shifts into 3rd, it just went to redline like it was in neutral. Im guessing the 3rd gear clutches took a sh!t. Oh well, just my luck I guess. Called Toy Shop where he got it rebuilt, and had it towed to them. Unfortunatly, there was only a 30 day warranty on the rebuild, because it was only 'repaired' not 'overhauled'. Long story short, its getting an OEM tranny replaced at the dealership now. That means no more 3000 rpm stall, probably no trans cooler, no shift kit, etc. But now I have programming on the truck that gets rid of ALL my torque management. I imagine this will kill the new tranny... ?? What should I do now that I will have an OEM tranny in here now? I seriously dont want it to blow another tranny anytime soon... I want longevity, and not something that will die all the time.. I am reconsidering putting a blower on it now if the tranny's are this sensitive.
  4. I dont know, but I kinda instigated this one because I was revving it on him. The other times I just watch the aggressive drivers, and start messing with them. The ones in a hurry and driving quick usually will bite
  5. One more reason to get a supercharger as quick as possible! I was coming home from going out to lunch with my wife and some friends in the SS. We see the hugest coffee can muffler on a black lowered Acura Integra (Maybe a 2000 or so?) and it had the DOHC VTEC emblem, so it was probably the GSR 195hp motor in it. We take off at the light, and he doesnt wanna race, but we were laughing at the sound of his exhaust. It sounded like some pissed off bumble bees !!! So I decided at the next light, I wanted to make him look bad. I revved it up on him... and punched it at the light. He still didnt want a piece. Damn. So we are cruising at around 35mph, and he gets up next to me, and punches it. I do the same. All I know is I was pretty embarrassed because I couldnt pull past him up to 80mph, we were DEAD even... what sucks is we were all just talkin about how the SS is pretty quick, and some damn Honda keeps up with us. I felt pretty f-in gay. Cant wait for the Radix. A naturally aspirated Honda keeping up with an SS feels like someone kicking me in the nuts.
  6. Well if you were using 87, it probably doesnt affect TOO much performance through 1st and 2nd gear. When it shifts into 3rd gear, the detonation was probably happening a lot and the computer was pulling timing like crazy. When I had my turbo Eclipse, if I was running pump gas (91) and boosting anything over 17PSI, I would actually loose a lot of power when I got into 3rd gear, and the tuning software i was using showed the ECU pulling craploads of timing. If the ECU is programmed for 91+ octane, you loose a LOT of power if you arent running the right gas. On the dyno my Eclipse put out 356HP to the wheels on 91 @ 17PSI. I turned it up to 21PSI and I put out 351HP. That shows a little. Of course when I put in 108 and ran at 26PSI, I was putting out 411HP/489ft-lbs
  7. Damn good job dude!! His chick must have been laughing that a friggin SUV just beat his "sports car". Now you know why my wife drives a 350z.. its for chicks. Even though I cant beat the car unless I get a good hole shot.. we are pretty even. If you can destroy a 350z by that much, im going to steer clear of those Trailblazer SS's until I put my Radix on.

  9. I actually live in Foothill Ranch (next to Mission Viejo/Lake Forest) but I work in Newport Beach off of Jamboree. I am an IT consultant, so I go all over OC to various businesses. I am in Costa Mesa a lot, so maybe you have seen it? I have only seen 3-4 SS's around here since I bought mine a couple months ago. As for people racing here, hardly anyone wants to race, or tries to hit me up. A Silverado (5.3 most likely) hit me up the other night, and just KILLED him like he was standing still. That didnt warrant me posting a topic about it though. Most people buy fast cars, and just **** foot them around town.. its funny.

I am not exactly sure, but at first glance (since im not an Audi pro) it looked like a brand new mercedes type of car...then again, i was pulling past it, and didnt see too much of it until later When I saw the backend, I noticed the Audi type styling. I dont think I have seen that type of Audi before .... and I see a lot of them around here. It looked brand new from what I could tell. What are their specs? 0-60, and 1/4mi time?
  11. Sounds like its a dangerous place to drive, let alone race... two other people died weeks before in separate incidents, and doubtful they were racing too.
  12. Yeah man, a lot of people compliment it all the time. Some dude I saw in Irvine had a clean stock Victory Red SS and was asking me about the rollpan.. he loved it.. he said he couldnt find one anywhere, so I directed him to this site to talk with BSER. I have even had a guy ask me how many hours I have spent waxing my truck with layers of Zaino.. hahah. I told him I use DER and he's like WTF is that? I want to run my truck at a track, but the only 1/4 runs in Pomona I have ever done was at the IDRC shootouts back when I was into imports and had my '97 Eclipse turbo (which BTW, ran an 11.7 @ 132mph!) So how/where can I run this thing for fun just to get a time? Maybe we can race your TBSS vs your old SS there
  13. I just had exited Jamboree from the 405 heading North, and made a left. First run was the light on the corner of Michelson, next time was a roll right in front of the courthouse (hahahah) and we made the dead stop race in the intersection at the light right before McArthur (right next to the new business buildings where I work)
  14. Well, I just got home tonight so I thought I would share another race story. My wife and I were driving to Flemings steakhouse in Newport Beach, just cruising along. We had just exited the freeway, and we just came to a stoplight, where I was sitting in the front in my lane. I saw some headlights approaching fast in my rear view mirror, and a white Audi type of car pulls up next to me, obviously in a hurry because he keeps inching forward waiting for the light to turn green. I look over at my wife, and told her this clown is going to punch it when it turns green, and I said I would do the same. Light turns green, and he gets the jump before I hit the gas. His backend was at my front bumper when I hit the gas, and I immedietly stay with him until my 2nd gear shift, and I pull past him slowly. I kept pulling until his front end was about 10 feet in back of my rear bumper at 85 mph or so, and I shut it down. I probably could have SLIGHTLY pulled more I -think-. Whats awesome, is he STILL wanted to run .. again! So we both slowed until we were even at 40mph, and we punched it again. Once again, I pulled past him, and left him about 5-6 feet behind my rear bumper, and we shut it down. Apparently at this point, he wanted to run from a dead stop, as he was slowing down waiting for the green lights ahead of us to turn red. None of them were, and he kept slowing down even more, and I did the same.... we ended up coming to a COMPLETE stop in an intersection with a green light... sounds funny, but I am glad no cops or traffic were around!! When we were stopped, I look over, and he has his fingers up doing a '3-2-1' and I immedietly punched it when he did that. We launched DEAD even at the same time, and he stayed with me through 1st gear. Once I shifted to 2nd, I pulled past again, and we just shut it down after that. At the next light, we both rolled our windows down and I asked him what type of car that was (since he had de-badged it) and he said an AWD Audi A8. I said nice car, and he said the same of my truck, but I think he was a little embarrassed... ahhahaha Anyways, another kill for the SS crew Sorry for the long post, but it was a nice appetizer before the main entree at Flemings. hehe
  15. I am going to take it to the track soon. I am almost sure it will run a 14.5-14.6 right now because when I race my wife's 350Z, we are DEAD even until 90mph or so (havent raced any faster). Her '03 350Z supposedly runs 14.5's no problem according to online specs at Road and Track, Motortrend, etc which leads me to believe thats the same times my SS will run. Well, at least until I get my Radix installed As for any stains in the back seat... I have put gallons of leather conditioner back there, so I hope any type of invisible stain is missing now

Yeah, its Dylans old '04 SS This pic was taken today after I claybarred and applied the DER treatment to it... dont worry, its still in good hands, I promise Just installed AVIC-D2 navi, JBL 1200.1 amp, and 2 10" Kicker CompVX subs. The subs hit so hard the metal on the roof sounds like someone is pounding on it, and the headlights and interior/cluster lights flicker when its hitting now .. lol. Pics of the system soon. For now, heres a quick pic until I get a better digital camera (as my cell phone takes crappy pics like this)
