  1. I should also note that I have very low voltage on my O2 sensor bank 2 sensor 2. It is below 50mv when the rest are oscillating from 100+ to 800mv. I bet one of the codes is low voltage folrm one of the O2 sensors isnt it?
  2. My truck is throwing the following codes periodically. My autotap system does not tell me what they are, just what the DTC #'s are. My autotap is also showing some unbalanced things. P0118 P0157 P0300 I dont know if the codes are the same from GM OBDII V6's, but I always remembered our grand prixs throwing the P0300 code after a cam swap. Is it possible my truck has a cam in it already? I doubt it, but who knows. Please help me translate these DTC codes and if I am in serious trouble or not. I have different cats and the pace setter headers. Other than that and the outlaw CAI, I have done no other modifications to the vehicle. Thanks.
  3. So this means another FI option for the 408 crowd huh? Maybe its time to build that 408 anyways...
  4. The bad news is that pneumatics wont get to all 6 bolts on both sides. There is at least one bolt on each side you will have to hand crank. I used air tools to remove and install, it only took about 10 minutes a side to get off and really with a lift not much more to get them on, the time was fitting in the cats and having someone custom bend and weld some pipe. I blew a gasket and was stuck with basic hand tools, it only took me about 35-45 minutes to change out the gasket. Learn my mistake and sue fel-pro up front. also be sure to put thread sealer on the threads of the bolts because some of the threads tap into the water jackets in the heads.
  5. Were you able to verify it was really the clogged cat?
  6. Alot of people like the GT2-3 all around because it has a nearly stock idle and stealth to it. Most wont know you have it. There was some thread awhile ago that the neslon guy down in texas claimed 90hp or something from a bigger cam and tune. I think it was one of the comp cams XER series cams, not positive though. Alot of people said he was full of it, you know. I have heard good things about the XER series cams, but I think there might even be better cams than that. Some things to take into consideration...do you plan to run long tubes? do you plan to run heads? do plan to keep your towing ability? Are you going or willing to run a torque converter?
  7. yes you can do that drako, but I think what zippy was getting at is that if you dont plan to do FI in the near future, you can realize much better gains from a different cam than the gt2-3. If you plan on FI in the near future, rather than do a cam swap twice, just do the GT2-3 and be done with it.
  8. Pace setter long tubes, cai, a good custom tune, exhaust, a nice cam like the gt2-3, and converter with trans work should be able to get you into if not near the 13's...like Zippy said. Thats all you need. No other gimmick bolt on junk. Hell, you can have a cam bought and installed for almost the cost of an after market ported throttle body and MAF, which dont really do dick in my opinion. Ditch the shorties, go long tubes. Its not like these trucks are tinny sounding uni-bodies that have a ton of interior resonance. I gurantee the long tubes arent any louder than your shorties, but perform a whole lot better.
  9. Now theres a salesman...lol. The converters I picked were geared more typically towards modified/supercharged motors.
  10. Do a search fo rmore info...But here some basic converters people are running: Yank TT2600 or TT3000 (About $425) Note: Yank recommends a more expensive one (supposedly beefier) at $800 and a 3000 stall, but most do not go with it. 3000 stall is sloppy for daily driving in my opinion. TCI for LS1 enignes. 2800-3000 stall. The trailblazer stock converter. Most like this one because of costs...offers mid 2k stall range. Some debate if it can handle the high horse power. I have limited experience with these converters. I think you can get one from $200-300ish?
  11. Custom fab is the only way to go for now. Pace Setter keeps promising off road pipes, but have yet to produce them.
  12. Good luck, just about everyone is sold out of them until mid July. I found mine laying on a shelf at a little performance shop after calling 17 places. Even Summit has them back ordered.
  13. I looked at magnaflows website and it showed the universal cats I bought were good up to 6.2L engines. So according to them, I'm ok, but thats without mods, tuning etc. If I am running rich after the radix, it sounds like it will cause problems. I hate to say it, but screw tree huggers...I'm cutting them off to prevent a $5,000 melt down.
  14. Dam...I'm putting a radix on in the next week or two...I dont need to grenade my engine over F@$#% emissions...I try to follow the rules and its going to screw me...great. I guess I better cut them out and have pipe put in their place. What do I do with the sensor harnesses...wont I through a code or should I just have the codes tuned out in a custom tune?
  15. Wait...the cats can melt or clog and hurt the motor? Is this common? I just put magna flow cats on my truck. What causes it? High heat from welding or just premature failure?
  16. The Yukon denali's had 6.0L in them...should fit an SSS.
  17. A set of long tubes or a GT2-3 cam? Or both? Those give you a good boost. And you can have either one installed for around $700-800 plus an update on your PCMforless tune. Just some thoughts... I put the pace setters on my 03 SSS and dont regret one bit, noticeable difference. I was out the door with custom pipes, high flow cats, and installation for $800.
  18. The fans on the SSS are not programmed to turn on until over 200deg. Sounds like you have programming for a 180deg tstat. Although the stat opens at a160 deg+, you are just running hot fluid through it because the cooling fans are not blowing on the radiator or cooling it off. Have your pcm reprogrammed to turn on the fans at like 170deg OR install e-fans with a manual switch to turn them off and on at will. This will help you see lower temps on the engine.
  19. Good news. I spoke to a master mechanic at a chevy dealership and he said yes, two or three of the bolts on the LS1 style heads and gen III engines do tap into the water jackets. He said some RTV or other type of sealer will cure the problem. No cracked head!!! So relieved right now.
  20. Thats what I thought too, but if it was a head gasket, I would be puffing white smoke out the tail pipes or have coolant in the oil pan...neither of which I have. Plus, performance and comperession would down as well. The coolant is actually coming from the header bolt...its not in the "exhaust" system or anything. Since I replaced the header gasket, the truck runs flawless and soudns badass...so I am hoping I am ok.
  21. Thats right. I blew a header gasket and noticed that one...only of hte header bolts had coolant leaking from it on the ground. The gasket was saturated with coolant around that bolt hole and exhaust port. I changed the cheap gasket that came with my pace setters and put in some good felpros. The good news is the leak has stopped temporarily. Obviously I fixed the header leak as well. But my question is, is it normal on these LS1 style heads to have coolant in the header bolt holes? I dont know anything about how coolant circulates on these engines. Could I ruptured a water jacket in the head? I checked the oil and there is no water/coolant in the oil and the truck runs awesome, no funny noises or anything. If I cracked the head, wouldnt everything be a mess? Or blew a head gasket? I doubt it is that, but wanted to check with some experts out there. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  22. Pace setters are still cheaper even if you dont get the dynatechs coated. Also, the stainless steel will turn blue-ish in color, the ceramic coated headers look much nicer...I already knew about stainless not rusting...lol
  23. This happened to me in my Tahoe Z71 I had in '01, my Avalanche Z71 I had in '02 and it has also happened to me in the Silverado SS once at a stop light, about a 1 second hesitation, as if somethign was "resetting" in the trans and then it went...rpm's flashed to well over 2k each occurence. Dealership said the same thing...normal...WTF?
