  1. It was a 0-60 race for the most part, maybe 0-80, right where the AWD Silverado SS with a blower shines. Sure he has a procharger, not a radix, but it still produces a good amount of low end torque. The SRT8's would probably trap in the 105 range whereas his truck traps in the 101 range. I love to race from a dig because I know I stand a much better chance than from a 60-70 roll. Had they continued on to over 100mph, the SRT8 might have at least stopped his pull or even reversed it and began to make a little ground.
  2. Until he gets his hands on one of these...I saw one on a Challenger at a local car show and the fit/finish was amazing. Almost couldnt tell it was a supercharger for a minute...This would get him up the 500+hp range easy... http://www.techcointl.com/TECHCO-3.0L-Reve...arger-a/136.htm
  3. I definetly believe that was an SRT8. They run mid 13's all day, maybe a low 13 here and there. With how you were pulling on him, it would probably be a good couple tenths difference in the quarter mile. Your truck is probably capable of a low 13 pass. Further more, there is no way a regular 300c hemi would hang that close to a mid-low 13 sec SS. Believe me, I know from personal experience. I've ran a few SRT8's with similar results. 1st and 2nd gears are much better than roll racing. If you ran him from 70 -100+, it would be much closer.
  4. The output shaft issue was not isolated to just the camaro as I was told. I read it also affected other vehicles not manufactured by GM that the manual was used in and was not GM's fault. The other issues, GM quality all the way.
  5. I would also recommend doing some research concerning the enforcement of current laws on the books. I did a thesis paper a few years back of a similar nature. I found and cited a lot of existing laws that were not being effectively utilized. Also, perhaps concentrate on sentencing guidelines for certain violent crimes involving firearms and see how that plays a role as well. Typically, anti-gun supporters want more legislation and laws when there are already thousands on the books that dont stop crime from happening. Its just another angle to consider.
  6. I could vote either way, but I swing towards the Z06 and then go see my aquaintance at Katech...He is the Director of Aftermarket sales and has a Katech Track Attack Z06. He was considering selling it, but I think he wanted more than anyone was willing to give, so he kept it.
  7. All he would have to do is buy a cat back exhaust for a 6.0L ext cab truck (if his is ext cab) and it should bolt right up. Brobradh did the exact opposite to make his headers with a single mid pipe fit. It can be done with a corsa at least as far as I know.
  8. I would say no to Flex A lite (FAL). FAL is expensive and I have already had to replace the motors on both fans at over $100 a motor. I think the GM electric fans would be the best with a harness to the PCM, perhaps even discuss with Mr P what the costs/capabilities are of the kit him and some other members are putting together and selling on here. I am very disappointed in the FAL as far as quality goes, but I am vested and they do the job. I just hope I dont have to replace motors again. The last ones only lasted about a year and 25k miles.
  9. Bummer...should have copied and pasted the text...its been flagged for removal.
  10. Nothing, this was posted on another board I frequent. and thought you guys would get a kick out of it too.
  11. Fan CFM is kind of low...I have the Flex-a-lites that are 5500CFM and those ones on ebay are only 3000cfm. While that may be sufficient for a stock vehicle, we have intercoolers and such that migh require more cfm. My truck only gets up to 200* if I run my A/C and sit in traffic in 90* heat. Towing, it doesnt get that hot.

  13. Make 500hp? Beat his SRT8? As long as its stock... This would be a good option to consider, a 408 can be built by many different shops, this is just one shop/option... http://www.texas-speed.com/shop/item.asp?i...45&catid=28 OR A TVS1900 should do the trick from... http://www.magnacharger.com/ Any route you probably choose, you will basically need supporting mods like LT Headers, exhaust, trans work, torque converter, custom tune, etc. A couple of others have reached the 12's with pretty much just nitrous and supporting mods. I think Mean05 is the one to ask about that. Personally, I dont like the STS because it is so tempermental. Sure, once its dialed in and everything works right, it produces good power, but for some reason, I seem to read a lot of threads on a lot of boards about people always working on their STS system. I threw my magnacharger on with the other supporting stuff I mentioned, went and ran 13.19 (full street trim, 3.25 pulley, I'm only a 2.9 away from solid twelves), and only pop the hood once a month to check fluids and change spark plugs every 15-20k miles or so. Low maintenance.
  14. Not too cheap, pretty good deal from someone probaby stuck with something they cant return and dont need... New its only $4,600... http://www.summitracing.com/parts/NAL-12568782/ $4,200 and a local pick up is a decent deal. Just check it out before you buy, if anyone around here would even have a need for a short block like that. Maybe someone with a classic muscle car? I know a few members have cars that engine could go in.
  15. Same here. I never had any issues installing my pace setters from the bottom on the drivers side. Maybe OBX/Dynatechs are a differernt story? The Pace Setters slipped right up. I've had them off completely once more and installed them again with no issues. Huh...
  16. I actually chuckled when I saw the picture of her "dirty" hand from hard work...Seriously? It looked she rubbed it in some dust on the garage floor and took a quick pic.
  17. I paid $425 in Cleveland, OH two years ago to have a yank put in. I think $350-500 is a fair price. Danny's price is a steal. I would never tackle it myself without a lift and trans jack. If I had both of those available, I would probably do it myself as its not that difficult to do. The hardest parts are getting that top bolt on the bell housing, making sure the converter is seated properly all the way, and dealing with the heavy a$$ trans (thats what the trans jack is for). I find that the older I get, the more I would just rather pay for someone else to do it sometimes.
  18. This has to be done anytime a different PCM with a new file not from the original vehicle is put in the vehicle. The pcm you have in the vehicle originally knows the crank position sensor as it was set at the factory. If you take that PCM out and put another one in, the new PCM does not know the crank position sensor in your truck, os it has to be "learned" or go through the process it uses to learn it. This is why I chose to get HPT and just overwrite the tune in the original PCM. By pulling the original tune and modifying that tune and then replacing it back to the pcm, you dont lose the crank sensor position settings. This is basically how zippy explained it to me. Thats also why if you send in your original pcm to get tuned, you most likely wont have to do a re-learn either.
  19. I'm interested in the bumper. Just what kind of shape is it in? How many scratches etc? Thank You.
  20. Sorry to hear about your luck on this one. Thats an expensive luxury fix. Have you taken it to a non-GM after market installer for a second opinion? I dont have a sunroof, but I am getting fed up with GM quality on my truck as well. I'm not talking about the trans either...My dads 2007 is so much better put together. I'm thinking of an upgrade.
  21. Do you mean you took the food or the IT home? Why is the Detroit area getting more and more weird? Seriously. Last one out turn the lights off...
  22. Sweet! We've seen the dyno video, now lets see some track video! Results oriented! Might be time for me to upgrade to an 09 5.3L with the 6 speed auto and that little motor ornament...
  23. I think that is what zippy was trying to imply for you. That a 4L80E swap can get pretty intensive requiring different parts, etc. And it could be very time consuming being half way around the world to get support for the swap. A well built 4L65E is a direct bolt in replacement for a 4L60E and could be enough to handle all of the power you want to put down in certain applications. Have you had your 4L60E rebuilt to performance levels?
  24. Yes. Those are the correct headers on ebay. I bought a set and then sold them because I decided to stay with the pace setters I already had. Great looking set of headers. I cant see why anyone would throw their money away for a set of dynatechs after seeing these, bad clamps or not... You will also need to find two plugs for the extra set of O2 sensor taps (I think its M18x1.75 but I am not positive, I had to buy them myself a couple years back). OBX comes with three sets of O2 Sensor ports. Also, since the cats are dummy cats, plan to have your O2 sensors after the cats turned off in the tune otherwise, you will throw a check engine light soon after running them.
