  1. The idler pulley bearing on the drivers side is sqealing like crazy. I removed it and sprayed it with some good silicon lubricant and the noise went away for about 2 days, but its back. I just need to replace the pulley. Does anyone know what the part number is? I cant recall if that is a stock idler from the silverado, its been so long since I installed my radix, I dont remember exactly what came with the radix and what was transferred over. Also, I might consider upgrading both idler pulleys, but I dont have a ton of extra cash at this time, looking for the least expensive route most likely. If a new idler pulley costs $100, but the aluminums are only like $150, I might consider it, but thats about my limit. I'm guessing a stock idler won't be that much though. To clarify, its the one underneath the supercharger pulley on the right hand side when looking at the motor from the front of the truck. Thanks.
  2. I have to agree. It's 100hp shy of Ford's Eco-Boost SHO. However, it is only a 2.0L 4 cylinderturbo. Although, for its HP deficit, its not that far behind in estimated performance compared to some other potential vehicles in its class. I agree though, it should have in the neighborhood of 300hp, but perhaps GM is worried about competing against its own Cadillac CTS? Or is the Regal supposed to be smaller? Would the Regal even be considered to be in the same class as the Ford Taurus? Also, I have limited faith for GM to follow through on and AWD performance version. Maybe GM is just scared of MPG and emission requirements? It does look good though.
  3. I wouldn't believe everything you hear. Reverse engineering takes place all the time in the auto industry. Believe me, if Roush or Saleen, or even Ford wants to reverse engineer a Camaro or any other car, all they have to do is go to a GM dealership and buy one, take it back to the shop, and do whatever they want to with it. When we worked at TRW, we would order parts from "bench mark" cars to reverse engineer. We would order calipers, rotors, ECM's, or anything else we manufactured parts for and put them through our tests to see how they stacked up against our products. Then we would tear them down and "reverse engineer" them. Everything from chemical analysis to CMM to even try to replicate the manufacturing process. Of course though, if a company had a patent on some technique, like say a special hydraulic control valve in an ABS unit or special casting process, we couldn't manufacture anything like it until the patent ran out, but sometimes, it might point us in the right direction to improve our product.
  4. Friday morning on the way to work, I tossed the serpentine belt from the radix onto the middle of the road. I usually had been carrying a spare but had taken it out a couple weeks ago when cleaning up the truck. I went to pass another vehicle on a 6 lane road with median at about 50mph. Caught the 3-2downshift, ran it up to about 70ish and let out of it quickly, heard the pop, steering wheel went dead, DIC started flashing battery not charging messages, and looked in the rearview mirror to see the belt bouncing in the road getting run over by traffic. Lost my power steering and alternator, barely made it into the next parking lot. Had to call AAA to take it home and put the new belt on. A first I thought it might have been the tensioner breaking, which I have read is somewhat common, but luckily, it was just the belt.
  5. Sorry to hear about your misfortune. If you were in the Detroit Area, the company I work for is hiring for 9 entry level positions right now. Might have been below your income requirements though.
  6. Here is my spike during bow season. First arrow broke both hips and was off because the lane he stepped into had a branch hanging out at about 15yrds and deflected the arrow. Light was low as it was after 6pm before daylight savings went away, I should have known that branch was there. Its gone now. He stood up and tried hopping away slowly, second arrow missed because adrenaline was going and he was at 30yrds and squirming while I was shaking a little (I know, buck fever over this guy, it happens), third arrow found its mark after a couple of controlled breaths. Here is my uncle's spike horn he shot November 15th at 9:30am from the ladder stand I literally put up at 2pm the afternoon before. First deer in 2 years for him, and he owns his own 80acres in Mancelona ( had some camera setting issues I didnt know about until after I took these and we took the deer in, so thats the color issue) And here is my big doe I got this past Satruday morning at 8:00am from the same stand my uncle got his spike from. 4 came out, she was second, but clearly the biggest and was goosing all the other does with her nose, etc. She was clearly the matriarch or leader. Shot her at less than ten yards as they came out from behind me and right under the ladder stand, which is only a 10 footer. Keep in mind, I'm 6' and 230lbs... And here is one reason to let them get a little further out next time...carnage of a 300winmag at 8-10yrds...this is the ENTRANCE wound...must have hit the rib bone just right. Blood went spraying everywhere and she looked like a locomotive with all the steam coming out of her. Surprisingly, she still turned and ran 20yrds back the way they came from before falling over. Wish I had pics of the 6pt, not this year...it was stolen right out from under me.
  7. Bravo Papa Johns. Pizza on the menu for tonight...any link that this is legit? EDIT: It looks legit, but nonetheless, I think its just the local 40 stores that are donating... http://www.pnwlocalnews.com/kitsap/pat/com...y/78465927.html Either way, I would still order from PJ's just to support a business that supports the community whether my order directly helps or not.
  8. I'm starting to think I'm the only one on the face of the planet who hadn't seen it yet. Usually, I'm one of the first. That just tells me what my new position has done to me. I think my work internet usage is down 1,000%. It's all for the better though.
  9. Haven't been around much lately, flipped through a few pages of offtopic, didn't see it...Eh...oh well...
  10. Not Work Safe most likely even though its You Tube... If you want to end a relationship, pick up a Shii... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_SXNAtwYMBw
  11. There some companies out there that make conversion kits. I would look at those kits and then see if you can make anything cheaper work. In most cases though, the swap is not cheap, even with a junkyard 4L80E. However, in the grand scheme of things, after 2-3 4L65E rebuilds, you could pay for a 4L80E swap. There are some members who have and are tackling the swap, look for their posts/threads to get an idea of what you need. 04Chase is one, I think USABodyguard did it as well if I'm not mistaken. Several over on www.performancetrucks.net have also. If I was keeping my truck, I was going to do the swap when the current 4L65E gives out.
  12. T- case has no cross memeber, however, the trans does and does need to be modified for a 4L80E conversion. The T-case or the tailshaft of the 4L80E needs modification to accept the NVG149 T-case that is stock in the SSS. Either the trans has to be built with the correct output shaft or the T-case needs a input gear to accept the 4L80E I believe. This topic has been covered before and probably can be found by doing a "4L80E conversion" search.
  13. Is it 2WD? To give you a comparison, my father bought a 2007 (new body style) LTZ Z71 4x4 in black, loaded, with about 20,000 miles on it, bed cover, bed liner, in black, for $24,500 last fall at a dealership. I understand his was a model year older, but that was a year ago. I do think you are in the ballpark if its 4x4 with leather. I would check NADA and see what the value is there, forget KBB. Most lenders use NADA to make auto loan lending decisions now. As long as your asking price stays below private party NADA value, you know people will be able to get a loan for the truck, which is obviously important to selling the truck. If someone offered you $24k or $25k, I would serisouly consider their offer if they are serious and can follow through, especially in this market.
  14. I believe you are correct. It is 6 gears stuffed into a 4L80E case, at least thats what I also gathered from the video they released a while back on it. As for conversions, I think I have been waiting well over a year to hear anything positive, but I also don't follow most of the builds anymore. I'm starting to lose interest in my truck anyways, getting bored and its getting old.
  15. Thats probably some type of union rules stating suspension with pay is called for until the investigation is over. Once convicted, then the department could terminate him because he is guilty is charged. Right now, he is presumed innocent until the trial is over and he either pleads or is found guilty. Quite frankly, thats the way it was intended to be and should be. And it is a shame that private sector employers can terminate for sneez with no recourse for the employee. One thing unions are useful for, until they get out of hand negotiate people to keep their jobs for stealing or some other larger infraction. It bugs me when an employer can dismiss someone for being late 3 times. Thats a pretty hefty fine to pay for being late to a job, wrong or not. Thats another discussion for another day.
  16. Joe, I believe the father is actually the biological father of the three yr old and 15yr old. The mother of the 15yr old is not the mother of the 3yr old and the alleged incident took place at the fathers home, but confessed to his mother. This is what I gather from reading the articles, however, it is not very clear.
  17. Thats my thought. Many of us have said in the past on this board, in lighter hearted discussions, of other national media cases of molestation that many of us would indeed harm the person responsible or that it would be hard for us to hold back from hurting that person. But this has that sick twist of the person being your other child. It is very disturbing.
  18. http://www.freep.com/article/20091118/NEWS...8026/1001/rss01 Did he do society a favor? I think that is totally whacked out and wonder what the kid really did, if anything at all? The mother admits he did something, but she says not rape? Then what did he do? I bet the mother feels horrible about telling the father.
  19. I had problems with both PT.net and LS1tech yesterday most of the day. I only managed to get on once.
  20. I received a promotion at work today and it did come with a raise. Just thought I would share with all the doom and gloom out there lately. Hopefully, things will start to turn around for everyone. I was unemployed for six months in 2008 so I understand how stressful things can be.
  21. The toll just keeps climbing... Aren't there some members on here that are stationed there? I could swear I have seen someone mention they were from Ft Hood. I hope everyone is fine and that the people responsible are punished.
  22. Are you still going to run a 4L65E behind that? Thats an awesome build. I would love to have that set up in my truck. Aren't you in Michigan if I recall?
  23. What were you trapping with that auto '10 Camaro?
  24. My understanding is that I think he lost or just stayed even with him after the camaro pulled out front by 2 cars...
  25. Sweet spot for sure. Considering I have heard some manuals being able to trap in the 105-109 range supposedly, And even your truck as a high 12's, you could possibly be trapping in the 103-105 range, its not surprising. Who knows, he could have had some mild mods like headers, exhaust, or even just a tune A faster quarter mile time doesn't always mean you will win. Trap speeds are a better comparison for higher speed roll races. I may run a 13.19@101, but if I run a car that runs a 13.3-13.4, but traps at 104ish or better, I might lose that roll race starting at 60+mph...Obviously if we run a full quarter, I would win if I have the same or better reaction time. Unfortunately, most of us are quicker out of the hole and the 0-60 area than the 60-100+mph area, especially myself with a radix. A Procharger is a little different and probably has a little better top end than a radix.
