  1. I agree, its not the converter. Its evident the truck is not getting rolling right from the start (i.e. lack of power like Mr. P said). The 60ft is 2.0 and even with the TBTC it should be more like 1.8-1.9 with an awd truck. Do the 2005's have 4.10's like the 03's? I also agree to check everything. Make sure your intercooler pump is working, mine was not. Make sure you have recently cleaned your MAF, TB, and air cleaner. Also, I dont know much about the LS2 90mm TB, but are you sure its opening all the way? Are the 05's drive by wire like the 03's? If your TB isnt opening all the way, that very well could be an issue as well. Of course, so could everything else Mr. P mentioned. Do you have a boost gauge? How much vacuum are you running at idle? Has there been a significant change? How much boost are you seeing at WOT? I ran a 13.19@101 with mods in sig at 900ft (dont know what the DA was for that day though).
  2. I have roughyl 17k miles on my set of STX Khumo's and they are great warm weather tires. Coming from the Goodyear OEM's though, I wish I had the goodyears in the snow. Grip is alot less in the winter white stuff. The truck is more prone to lose traction. In the rain or on dry pavement, they are great. They do hook better on hole shots as well with the awd.
  3. Yeah, the part numbers at both O'Reilly's and Autozone are wrong for the rears on the SS. Found that out the first time I changed brakes. I got the coated rotors from O'Reilly's for $55/each and I am happy with them. The ceramic pads were like $60 for both front and rear. Less than $300 for a brake job, I'm happy.
  4. Cleaned the MAF and TB. Disconnected the battery while I worked on it. I did kart wheels when it fired up and sounded like brand new. The TB has never been cleaned and the MAF has not been cleaned in probably 45-50k miles or so. Truck runs beautiful. Have new brakes, new shocks, new intercooler pump, temps are in line, truck is ready to rock. Thanks for the tips and advice.
  5. Exit 117 Miller Rd off of I75 in Flint Bob. All the girls were on Roller Skates or roller blades and they have drive-in parking spots where they bring the trays out to your vehicle and set them on your window. I havent been to the one in Garden City. I was actually under the impression that there was some new law or tax law they were or did try to pass that required employers who had employees who received tips that they had to withhold a certain percentage now of their gross sales regardless of what they earned in tips. So that if they have a bad night, they could actually almost work for free. It might have just been a Michigan thing, not sure if it was federal or if it even passed. I havent waited tables in over a decade, but it was good quick cash back then for me. Walmart around here doesnt even pay $10/hr, lucky to get $8...and there are lines in Michigan to get in...15.2% unemployment FTL. $2.55 an hour or whatever it is, is pretty dam low. Who would work for that? I look at tips kind of like commission. Your server is providing a service, if they do well, they earn their commission, if they do poorly, their commission drops. Tips encourages good service. Thats why when you go to McDonalds or Taco Bell and your order is F#$ed up, its because they dont care, they're getting their $7.65/hr or whatever it is no matter what. Sure, if they get enough complaints, they might get fired, but Arby's is just down the road and probably hiring...Some of the best sales people I ever hired came from serving when I was a sales manager. You have to be personable, outgoing, have a majority of the people like you, push products (liquor, specials, etc.) and you have personal accountability for your own actions that directly affects your paycheck...perfect foundation for a sales person.
  6. Yeah, I just always relied on zippy too. Plus board members here.
  7. Rears frequently wear out faster than fronts on our trucks. How many miles are on the stock setup? Have you had the rears looked at recently? My stock rotors started rotting from rust from the michigan winters before the pads wore out so they got replaced. If you have less than 60-70k miles and dont drive in salt/snow often, you could still be ok. Also if you dont do any towing. Towing takes it toll much faster on brakes as well.
  8. Wow. Right in my back yard and I never even knew they were there.
  9. Theres a place called Hi-Performance in waterford associated with Siddock Racing. Guys name is Jerry and they usually work with Fords. I dont think its the same place. I have not heard of Cars High Performance. I have an acquaintence at Ka-tech that might know someone though. They are in Clawson area.
  10. I didnt read the whole thread, did you consider an L67 3800 series II supercharged motor? They can make ALOT more than 260hp...Turbo 3.8L's are making 400whp in grand prixs fyi... Also, have you ever shopped Dons sport vehicles in Perry? I was just there for the first time last week picking up a new set of bilsteins for the SS. Nice place and very helpful guys. Looks like sandrails are his main local business.
  11. Sonic is fairly new to Michigan as we just got our first couple of restaurants recently. So my fiance and I went to one to try it out since we never had it. Didnt realize it was girls on skates delivering your food to your window (like our old A&W's, but without the skates). It seemed to me to be appropriate to tip the girls at least a $1 a head, maybe not 20%, but something ($2 in our case, our tab was like $16 or something). After all, they are bringing you your food on skates. My fiance thought we didnt need to tip. So to you guys who have had Sonics and similar for a while, do you tip when you go or is it just fast food? We always used to tip at the A&W drive-ins, not drive throughs though. And what the heck are they going to do when theres a foot of snow on the ground? Spray down the parking lot and deliver on ice skates?
  12. I didnt do any logs. I did the brakes and shocks over the weekend and just buttoned it up Sunday night when I discovered my intercooler pump wasnt working anymore. Who knows how long that has been out, probably at least 2-3 weeks. I couldnt get that fixed until this morning when the Ford Dealer opened and didnt mess with the truck until then. I just got it wrapped up by 1 and had to leave for work tonight. I'll play with it in the morning, clean the TB, MAF, disconnect the battery, and maybe even take some logs. I just threw HPT on to see if there were any codes ( The CLE light was on), but the only codes were the normal ones associated with the second sensors after the cats (I have no cats, just never tuned out the codes yet).
  13. Good call. You know what? I just cleaned the air filter about 2-3 weeks ago...Might be time to clean the MAF and TB. I'll give that a try. How/what did you use to clean the TB? I use MAF cleaner to clean the MAF obviously. I also just did a search and found out that we can go with a 2003 Z06 PCV Valve form Napa. Apparently, ours isnt really a valve, but some kind of restrictor.
  14. My truck is now stalling when coming to a stop at lights or letting off the accelerator pedal and not two footing it. I'm thinking its either the PCV Valve or a vacuum leak in one of the lines on the radix kit. Anyone else experience this issue and get it fixed? I'm going to throw a $5 PCV valve on and see if it fixes it, if not then I guess I will have to start hunting for a leak. HPT shows no codes. Truck runs fine under power and fuel PSI is normal.
  15. I dont have one, but if no one can help you out, you could try www.schramauto.com in the Detroit area. They may or may not have one, but you might also pay through the nose for it. They've been pretty expensive lately. You'll have to call them to find out, their website is never up to date as far as inventory.
  16. Intercooler hoses are standard heater hose like the ones attached to the intercooler pump in the pictures, available at any local parts store by the foot.
  17. Same issue here. Had my front diff rebuilt at 60k miles. Had the transfer case go not to much later at 66k miles, transmission, etc. Fun stuff. It seems the only bullet proof thing they made was the motor. Solid as a rock and not too many blowing without help from forced induction.
  18. I see an intercooler pump and resevoir but wheres the intercooler? Also, I do not see the booster in-line fuel pump required for 03 SS Trucks. You will need to contact Magnacharger for a new one, or find an alternative, but the magnacharger one would be easiest route most likely. Also, 04's are returnless, 03 are return style. You will need to see magnacharger on what is required to make it fit with the fuel lines. You will need a throttle body gasket. Available at most dealerships. Your best bet is to download a copy of the instructions from magnacharger and do an inventory. I bought my kit used also. I had the installation manual and read through it 3 or 4 times and verified each part in each step before beginning the install process.
  19. I am sorry to hear that. Maybe things could be worked out in the future or maybe its for the better, only time will tell either way.
  20. I am installing new bilstein shocks while doing a complete brake job and some other required maintenance. I have a kind of dumb question for the front shocks. When I took out the stock front shock, for the top mount, there were two rubber bushings with metal plates and with a metal sleeve inside the two bushings. When I got the bilsteins, they came with new rubber bushings and metal plates, but no metal sleeve. The stock metal sleeve isnt even close to fitting into the bilstein rubber bushings. Do I install them without the metal sleeve? Or do I need to press/fit the sleeve into the new bushings, which doesnt make a lot of sense to me. It seems like the bilsteins mount up without the sleeve, but not sure. All the instructions I found online showed without the sleeve, but were kind of vague. Also, anyone know how far to tighten them? I saw a set of instructions online somewhere that showed to not compress them to much, just tighten the nut down to the top bushing plate, then go 5-6 turns more? (these were for edelbrock shocks though). My Chiltons book says for 2003 trucks to tighten to 70lb/ft, but for 2004+ to tighten only to I think 15 or 20lb/ft if I remember correctly. But this is obviously for a stock shock... Thanks.
  21. Great book from a great leader who tells it like it is. I read it cover to cover then tucked it away in my library. Picked it up at Borders for $8 on the clearance rack. A couple of quick questions for you though... Where did you get the quotes from? Did you know the book was written in 2007 prior to the 2008 Elections? Obama was not President yet...so quite a few of those quotes in referrence to Obama are incorrect. I am just guessing at this point, but I am assuming that you most likely have not probably read the book in its entirety and received these quotes in some form of a chain email? It is a shame that no matter which side of the political isle someone leans, if any, would distort facts from someone's book. (Not saying it was you that distorted the facts!) Without re-reading the book, these statements are not from the book I am certain... Only a few people in the US know you elected a illegal alien to be President! A Muslim at that! And he jumped right in destroying the US from the inside. Osama bin Laden is smiling from ear to ear because he is winning the war on terror and you helped by voting his man in as President! Obama is running the biggest deficit in the history of the country.
  22. Der Untergang (2005) http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1808642134/details In the dead of a November night in 1942, a group of young women are escorted by SS officers through the woods to Wolf's Lair, Hitler's headquarters in Eastern Prussia. They are candidates for the post of personal secretary to the Fuehrer. Among them is 22-year-old Traudl Junge, a fresh-faced girl from Munich. Traudl is chosen for the job and she is overcome with joy at the thought of serving beside her Fuehrer. BERLIN, APRIL 20, 1945: Hitler has retreated to a bunker system under the German Chancellery. Traudl Junge is asleep in her room, deep beneath the ground. She is awakened by tremors from artillery fire. The enemy is getting closer. Charting the last 10 days of Hitler's life, from his 56th birthday on April 20th, 1945 to his suicide on April 30th, the film uses multiple characters to show the chaos of a country coming apart at the seams, from Hitler's henchman under the streets of Berlin, to the soldiers and civilians fighting and dying as the Soviet Army ravaged the city above.
