  1. ???? No rain on Saturday, but rain on Sunday?
  2. Believe me, I know. I was in my local bike shop that my friend manages. He was showing me the new 10x2 (20 speed, 2 front gears x 10 rear on the cassette) carbon fiber front suspension Specialized brand mountain bike. The bike lists for almost $7,000. Thats more than a radix for our trucks. Only wannabes would pay full price on that bike. People who have earned the right to utilize a bike like that to its full potential are usually sponsored and get the bike for free anyways. Also, just the rear cassette gear set, hand machined, is a few hundred dollars. A rear cassette is a wearable part that typically needs to be changed every few hundred miles depending on use/abuse. The frame alone is over $2k, no wheels, no kick stand The rims? They cost more than most of our rims for our trucks separately. I'm hoping to join a shop sponsored race team as an entry level rider next season for some deep discounts to help with the costs of this habit.
  3. I work Sunday. I'm might be able to make a 31st meet. I might get 12's? Probably wishful thinking. My 13.19 was in 60* weather and I don't think even if it was 40* it would get me in the 12's, maybe closer though...
  4. Its the MAF and TB. I had the same thing happening, didnt know what was going on, cleaned the MAF and TB and it was back to normal.
  5. Any plans for a LT4 top swap? Nice ride for the money.
  6. After dealing with Autozone and then O'Riellys Auto Parts (formally Murrays), both couldnt give me the right parts if their life depended on it and service just plain sucked. I ended up returning everything and spent the little extra and went with NAPA. They had everything right in their computers and didnt have to guess or match parts and were not too much more expensive. Autozone and O'Rielly's have the standard 5.3L Z71 rotors listed as fitting the SS which are much smaller, we have, I believe, the HD truck rotors on the rear, everything is different, pads, rotors, calipers, etc. And they will swear their computer is right until you physically bring in your rotor and compare them in front of them. At that point, after proving they were wrong, I returned everything and went back over to NAPA, the only reason I didnt go with NAPA first was because of price...won't make that mistake again. Oh, and spring for the premium stuff with the coating on the rotors, they will last much longer and probably not have the rust issues I mention below. The only other thing to be aware of is that if your rears have really worn/rusted in, taking the rear rotors off might be a little bit of a pain to get the hat section off of the parking brake pads. I went with the cheapy murrays rotors on my first brake job because funds were tight and they rusted something awful and the parking pads were hanging up on the rust ridge and it was hard to get them off. I had to get in there and pry the pads back (they are spring loaded so it didnt hurt them) to get the rotors off.
  7. It has been said that the two happiest days of a boat owers life is the Day he picks his new boat up and the day he gets rid of it. I've had my boat for 5yrs now and its my second one. If I didnt love fishing so much, I swear I would sell it. Always seems to be something, cover, trailer repairs, seats, electronics, I dont have a lot of problems with this boat, but maintenance alone is expensive. Another hobby that is taking over me this summer is bike related, but more for the single track. I dropped over $2,000 on a full-suspension Giant Trance X2 mountain bike and I didnt stop there. Needed new handle grips, couple sets of different tires, pumps, camelbacks, tool kits, riding clothing like shorts, jerseys, etc, race entry fees...Lets just say that was a lot of mod money for the SS. However, I am feeling the best I have felt since the couple of years after HS so I think it was a worthy investment.
  8. This probably makes most of the difference, stock suspension versus shackles and hangers.
  9. I agree with Chase. Its all about weight transfer. If your truck is still lowered, you might want to consider returning it to stock height and finding a shock like mentioned above.
  10. I've dropped the transfer case before and also the transmission. Its easy to drop the transfer case and to put it back in. Splitting it and rebuilding it though I would leave to a professional myself. Its no where near as complicated as a transmission, there are just some bearings, sprags/gears/chain inside, but I opted to not do it myself. If you want to tackle it yourself, you could contact these guys... http://www.drivetrain.com They should be able to get you the parts you need and maybe even give you an idea of whats involved. They sell rebuild kits as well for most units. I bought my rebuilt transfer case from them and they have been great help, better than any trans shop. You could pull the case yourself also and just take it to a trans shop to save a little money if you need to. I would guess though that you would probably be looking at anywhere from $400-900 for a shop to drop it and R&R it for you.
  11. If you have AWD and are referring to where the front of the driveshaft goes into, that is the transfer case attached to the back of your transmission. Your front driveshaft goes out the front of it to the front diff and the driveshaft goes out the back to the rear diff. You will have to separate the transfer case from the transmission and disassemble the transfer case to properly get at the bearing.
  12. Do you mean the seal on the transfer case? Then, yes, in order to replace the bearing, the transfer case must be removed and disassembled. The seal, I believe, can be replaced in the vehicle. You do not have to remove the transmission in order to remove the transfer case.
  13. NADA is around $16k. My truck is supercharged and I am considering selling it also, I was only looking at $19-20k range, its black, but I have less miles than yours.
  14. He did fight it but it is zero tolerance for sex offenders in Michigan and a sex crime is basically stated as any crime that involves any of the sexual genetalia, whether the crime is of a sexual nature or not. Believe me, the man was torn up over the loss of his kids. The wife was a total bitch and the system basically screwed the guy. I don't know what happened to him, but he was begging for any job he could get and this was back in 2004 when jobs were still plentiful. I seriously doubt that any good came of it for him. Maybe he got it over turned, I don't know. I do know that he said something about 5 years and expungement, but I don't know if that would get him removed from the sex offenders lists. That is exactly about what this country, not world, is coming to.
  15. Its the wonderful zero tolerance common sense police who believe they can actually stop or prevent all senseless violence and crime in the United States. Their inherent flaw of their arrogance is that no perfect system ever put in place can control an imperfect human society. They can have all of the back ground checks, ban firearms, have zero tolerance policies, yet someone somewhere will kill or injure someone else either intentionally or unintentionally. Just look at how strict drunk driving laws are now, the fines, the fees, yet we have people drinking and driving multiple times, sometimes dozens of times, even after their license has been suspended. No law can completely stop everything. In their feeble attempt to do so, they pass ridiculous laws with no tolerance and no common sense. I knew a guy here in Michigan that was getting divorced. I knew him because he was asking me for a job. He was caught urinating in the back alley of a bar at 2pm on a Saturday night. The only person who saw him was the cop who arrested him. He was sentenced to only probation and community service, but because it was for indecent exposure, he has to register for the next 20yrs on the sex offenders list. He lost all visitation rights to his children in his divorce, lost his job, has a hard time renting a place. I wanted to hire him, but even our company, after reviewing the police report which I saw, said they couldn't have the RISK of a registered sex offender working in a retail environment. It's completely ridiculous. All the guy did, was take a whiz in the dark and an officer decided to be a dudly do right. Sure, its the law, but again, descretion needs to be used. This guy had an MBA, college educated.
  16. That is true as the Trailblazer/Envoy and SSR are on similar frames. If I recall from my days at TRW, the Trailblazer regular wheel base was a 360 platform designation, the extended models were 370 and the SSR was a 365 or 368 designation, the frame was shortened from the 370, but longer wheelbase than the standard trailblazer 360 platform. With that, everything underneath should be similar if I recall. We did some of the early abs/tc work on the SSR around 2002. We did development on a 360 mule with 20" wheels and SSR brakes fit onto the 360. So the six speed manual should be able to fit into a trailblazer with probably minimal modification like driveshaft length, etc. And Joe, you're right about the can/bus and compatibility issues, however, I still hope someone figures out a way around it (cost effective way). I know some companies were trying to develop stand alone control modules but I haven't seen any updates or followed it much in the last year so I dont what has been accomplished, if anything. However, I am just considering selling the SS and moving on, possibly into a Denali that already has the 6L80E or maybe even a JGC SRT8 or back to my old two car system with a winter beater and summer fun car like an F-body. Who knows.
  17. Thanks. That's awesome. I hope they do it. I would do the conversion in a heartbeat if they ever truly figure it out. I know a couple of companies have ventured down this path only to do a one off or custom project, have issues, and never really bring anything to market that I am aware of. I know someone had a controller figured out to get around the electronics/PCM control issues, but I haven't heard or seen anything about it lately. I'm sure someone will find a way eventually and have it cost effective hopefully.
  18. Link? I'd like to see the info on that build. Thanks.
  19. Kellyperformance had a 2WD supercharged SS and he went through at least 3 different clutches and couldnt get them to last more than a couple thousand miles at most I think. Jaymzss is right, do a search on it. I also asked Kellyperformance if an AWD could be done and said it could be done (he quoted somewhere in the $6-10k range if I recall correctly and he said at that point, coolness aside, a 4L80E would be better and cheaper), but the 6spd manual probably wouldn't last either because of power/weight most likely. If you have to have a 6spd, take a look at the TCI 4L80E 6spd trans they built on TCI's website. Its pricey (and again, almost not worth it) and its an auto, but its a 6spd with paddle shifters.
  20. Sorry about the rough news. Welcome to Capitalism at its finest.
  21. AT&T isn't satellite. It comes through the phone like DSL or something I think. All I know is that I have it and I have had Comcast cable and DirectTV. I will never have DTV again. One of my girlfriends had dish network and I wouldn't have that one either. I think I would probably stick with cable, but I know that its hit or miss depending on local carrier and you're stuck with what they have, but most cable companies are catching up to satellite programming.
  22. I've known about that site for a couple of weeks, and its even hit national news. It is hilarious. If/when you go, you can entertain yourself with this while looking for photo ops...
  23. My pace Setters are 3 yrs old and are rusting. However, the OBX are NOT made of inferior steel. The stainless steel grade is the exact same as the Dynatechs.
  24. As far as I was aware, production for the SRT10 Dodge Truck ended in 2006 with just over 8,000 units sold from 2004 -2006. It was produced in both regular and quad cab. I have not heard anything about a new SRT10 and I didnt think Chrysler was in a position to build such a vehicle, especially since it was a EPA rated at 9 city and 12 highway. Regardless, it was capable of 0-60 in the high 4's and high 12's or low 13's 1/4 mile times. The quad cab had an automatic and the regualr cabs had a T56 manual. Quick trucks. And I doubt GM will ever build an SS truck in the next 5 years. With CAFE requirements sky rocketing by 2016, they cant afford to. Be lucky that the camaro and corvette will stick around past 2016 (corvette has a good chance of making it, but I sense this is the last horah for the camaro. It might run for 3-5 model years, but thats it). Isnt the next generation vette due out in 2011 or 2012 anyways?
