  1. The more I drive this truck the more I love it, it definitely picked 30rwhp, and I haven't tuned it yet. ARH did their homework, really nice gains. I have plenty of fast vehicles, ( 10 sec DMAX) so my butt-o-meter is pretty accurate. I guess I was frustrated when I made the first post, looking back the install wasn't bad. Just not as easy as I thought it would be. The performance gain makes the install worth it. I'm very pleased overall.

  2.

Have you ever seen plastic used as heat sink... or aluminum used as insulation??? food for thought

Exactly the reason you don't want an aluminum intake tube. Aluminum transfers engine bay heat to the intake charge rushing through the inside of the tube. Plastic insulates the intake charge. Their is still some heat transfer but not as much as aluminum.

  3. These headers were a handful to install. If you don't have a lift, don't even think about it! The passenger side fought me the whole way. Drivers side was not too bad, just remove front drive shaft and spark plugs. Header will slide in from bottom. On the passenger side I took of the wheel and inner fender liner, as well as the coolant overflow tank. Slide the header in through the wheel well. We are about 6 hours in so far. Got to the mid pipes, well they fit but needed some work. Slip fit joint was not slip fit, ARH needs to adjust their dies, pipe needs to be crimped a little smaller. .005 would have made it much easier. I used a file to adjust the size some. All in all the actual headers fit perfect, I only had to zip tie the starter wires back. The mid pipes fit ok, but not perfect. Expect to do some adjusting.

The sound with the stock catback is nice, with the cutouts open its insane! I would do it all over again.

Key things: soak manifold bolts with penetrating oil for a few days prior to install, also soak o2 sensors, mid pipe to manifold bolts (these were tough), and band clamp on the cat back.

  4. Got them yesterday. I'm pleased with the quality, and that's saying something, because I'm a mechanical engineer and CNC machinist by trade. One thing I thought the primaries would be longer? How much rwhp will a set of these add to a SSS with tuning? 40? 30?

Truck has CAI, headers, electric cutouts that bypass the stock muffler (truck has to be quite most of the time), and of course will be tuned afterwards.

  5. Best of luck, Bad Ass Silvy. I don't post here much, but I always liked your posts. Always helpful. You seem like a class act man. Keep it up.

  6. Hey guys what would you recommend as far as heads and cam for a tvs2300 jack shaft on a stock lq9 with full bolt ons. Not looking for a record breaker, but want something I can grow into. Should I switch over to l92 style heads? Or go with proven aftermarket cathedral port heads? Will the 2300 even work with cathedral port heads? I want a stock like idle, so I was thinking about a LPE GT2-3 for the cam? Also to throw a curve ball, the 2300 will be the last thing to go on, so I would like for the heads and cam to perform at least decent NA. Wanting to use the stock 6 rib setup, like I said, Im not looking to break records here. I want a solid street machine (for now).

    Thanks,

  7. Well headers don't bolt to the muffler, if your asking do they bolt to the stock exhaust, If they have bolt on collectors and are made for our trucks then they should.

In the picture on their website, the mid pipes look very long... I don't know if the picture is accurate ( an actuall silverado ss system) or not. But, yes I know the headers don't bolt to the muffler. But it looks like these come with mid pipes, should of spelled it out in the first post better. I'm lazy what can I say :pepsicheer:
