  1. Yea I waited to let it clear. I'm thinking about an 07 Tahoe, they are kinda growing on me and dealers are flooded with them around here. Thinkin about takin a break from performance until the doctors figure out a way to fix my back..and like my dad said if I get a Tahoe and I really have to have some go there is always a small shot of juice to embarass my buddies.
  2. wow, I think I just shed a tear watching this.
  3. Well, my SS is no longer in my possession . Over laborday weekend a gentleman from Kansas City came up to me admiring my truck and saying how he'd been looking for an AWS SS that hadn't been ragged out. He then asked if I'd thought about selling it and I said I hadn't planned on selling it for a while. We talked some more and he made me an offer I couldn't refuse. He cut me a check for the truck and a lil extra for the parts I had laying in the garage planning to do the build in fall. I'll miss the truck...def the most fun vehicle I ever owned. I'm not sure what I am going to build now, I considered the TBSS but after I drove one it really wasn't for me. I think after that accident I had 2 years ago I was a lil scared of a fast SUV. I'm considering either building a Camaro SS to stay in the SS family or getting a Tahoe and going back to my audio builds for a while until we see if a new SS will be released anytime soon.
  4. Last time I called about them I was told $520 per wheel and $85 for the color.
  5. damn that looks good. Glad to see someone else with alot of miles...heh. Just crossed 108k on mine and still on stock brakes with just under 1/2 my pads. Best truck evar.
  6. I had an 02 procharged vette when I was 17 and I can say, even with the driving experience I had that it is too much car for a kid. We like to show off, bite into temptation, ect. I did some pretty stupid shit in mine (180+ mph runs up James river freeway...purpously breaking the ass end loose on twisty lake roads when I had girls with me) and had some close calls. I'd stick with the SSS until your out of college.
  7. If you need a car to get ****..get the vette. If not keep the SSS and tell your daddy to get you some mods to smoke a vette.
  8. My Yorki Scooter: My Rotty knucklehead. ...best Rott I have ever owned, He was shipped to me from Germany and is soo gentle. My Yorki will come up and bite on him and pull his ears and he just lays there. Only thing that he doesnt like is Fed Ex. He's now chained to a logging chain because everytime a Fed Ex truck comes by the house he snaps the chains. lol
  9. Damn diesel owners blowing black smoke need better tuners. Nothing to show off. There are 800+hp Diesels out there that barely blow any smoke, and then there are the ..hmm whats the phrase for american rice....that think blowing black smoke is actually cool.
  10. Thanks! Two stupid questions... #1 What cubes would that LSX 4.030 bore/4.00 stroke end up making? I'm not too knowledgable there. #2 I was looking at the Lockers you mentions...and this is probably my dumbest question yet...if I go 14 bolt rear do I need 14 bolt in the front? I have been doing my searching and I'v decided on trying to find out the biggest cubes I can get and see what kind of power I can get NA, and have a nitrous setup added for the big boys. My dad ordered me some canted valve heads I think he called them and said that is the only help he's gonna offer me for my preject. Are those heads good for NA?
  11. So many things need recalled it isnt even funny. my first year of ownership I was in the dealer for warranty more than on the road. 5x for no horn 7x seat moving forward everytime I rolled my windows down 3x for steering clunk 10x! for tranny not wanting to shift out of 2nd (still never fixed) 1x truck completely shut off@70mph down the interstate 3x tranny noises (there again) ..and many other things. I dunno how many of you experienced what I listed above but there were a few SS's in the dealers with same problems. Pissed me off to the point that I almost got rid of it, but now I'm glad I didnt. Other than the tranny issues everything else got fixed after numerous visits and last straw letting them know if it wasnt done properly they can forget my family buying vehicles there again.
  12. I say do what ever is more comfortable for you financially. No point going broke to please others. If you need the better gas milage, go that route. If you can handle the milage your SS gets, but want better milage talk to a tuner about a tune that will get you better milage. It was discussed in a gas milage thread when I first joined the forums about people tuning their SSs and getting 20+mpg. I fill up every other day driving to therapy everyday. I had to fill up twice today going to therapy, getting my tags renewed and running errands. Gets expensive after a while.
  13. I can't get better than 12.3mpg and my only mods on the truck now is a K&N intake and a shitty tune getting rid of my speed limiter. I drove from Springfield, Mo-Chikacha(sp?) Oklahoma and cruise set down I-44 i hovered@13... My SS never has got good gas milage and 99% of my milage is highway living out in the sticks.
  14. I cant wait for the tall deck LSX. Rumor has it that it is capable of 572ci or 9.3l according to articles I'v been reading on other GM forums. If thats true then wow is all I have to say.
  15. lol this was great...I was going to the bank and on the way home I get outside town and traffic is moving like 30 in a 55 and there are 9 vehicles in front. The car behind the front vehicle brakes to make a right turn and its a straight away so I floor it and pass everyone infront of me. When I get behind the truck that was driving hella slow is see it is a new dodge diesel that is jacked up, running an exhaust that is 5+ inches wide and the nastiest euro lights i have ever seen. Well when I get behind him he must have thought it was time to play. He floors it leaving me in a cloud of black smoke...at this point when he is accelerating I can see he isn't stock. 3 curves ahead is a 6 mile straight away and I knew I'd see what this truck was made of. we get to the last curve and we both punch it at the exit. He gains on me a bit and I put it to the floor and I creep on him. Now we are at the big uphill in the straight away and I am on his ass huffing his nasty black smoke. Once we pop back over there is a jeep in front of him and we both slam on our brakes. As soon as that jeep turned I punch it and swing around the dodge and he flipped me off. After that i leave it to the floor till I get to the next gas station and he pulls in asking wtf is under my hood when i was getting gas and I told him its a stock LS1 except for a tune and speed limiter removed and he said I had to be blown... I kindly lifted the hood to prove it and he was mad.
  16. Mod on 350Z website posted some updated info. That color is the actual color of a tree Viper. 200mph with the top down. Now that's some wind in your hair action. I love that green
  17. He was trying to do an AWD burnout. Instead made a complete ass out of himself.
  18. Truely sickened... I just got back from dinner with the girl, and before I was getting on the freeway I saw alot of cars in a Steak'n Shake parking lot with the hoods up. I pulled in to see whats goin on and it was a lil get together for some people that knew each other. The girl wanted to hang out see if any action brewed up (she LOVES to race...glad I found her..lol). Nobody did any racing some some fools started doing some burnouts...got boring so we decided to leave.. Well there was a guy in a blue 04 SSS who had some nitrous hooked to his truck and had been talking trash to a local EVO owner while I was there and went up next to do a burnout. This is where I get sick. I dunno if this SS owner was drunk or what but he set his parking break, put his foot on his brake pedal and gas...then Sprays his Nitrous like that. BOOM went his tranny. Never in my life have I ever seen anything so dumb.
  19. I pay for membership on every car forum I am active on. When I get back from STL tuesday night I'll get my paid membership on this site. Help keep the sites open and allows for upgrades.
  20. Ah. Have they said when it is to be released? I'm gathering parts and doing my build in fall, if that block comes out before I start I may look into it. I'm gonna spend the weekend reading up on nitrous builds. Would be a great alternative to keep the truck streetable.
  21. Whats the max bore of the one out now? I'v heard 496 and 511 from diffirent sources. I need to go to the track and get schooled on some nitrous. I'd like to build with it, but know nothing about it.
  22. Ah, ok thanks. From what I was reading the only trucks that came from factory with the 6 lug axles on the 14 bolt was the 454 SS. I'll see if the parts departent at the local chevy dealer can order me those. They all said rear wheel, so I dunno. I need figure out what the rear end and tranny is gonna cost me and see what I have left to play with. I'v decidated $25k to the motor, $7k to my tranny, $10k to paint, and $10k to suspension, tires, wheels, brakes. I'm leaning heavily toward the 454 from the searching I'v done on it, even if it isn't RWHP there isn't a huge loss between fw and rw and those #'s obtained NA are amazing. If I can get near that mark I would be happy. Some parts I can get for dealer cost thanks to people our family has done business with in the past on builds so that will help in some area's. The real kick in the pants is gonna be the labor getting my build done at once. I'll let you guys know when I have 100% made up my mind. I wanna do a bit more research on my 2 options I narrowed it down to and see what one is truely feasable for a track and street demon. The 408 with a custom Vortech would be just under $20,000 and could produce more power than the NA 454. I wont lie...I do my fair share of street racing, especially roll races so thats another reason I'm torn between the 2. NA..the power is always there...boosted my power is there in the higher RPM's giving me my traction.
  23. No, but my tanau makes it damn near air tight with the seal I put on the edge. I had a bed rug in my 99 GMC with no cover and never had any problem with moisture getting underneathe either. I used to pull the carpet out once a month in my SS and shampoo it and replace the Velcro tape as well as be able to wash the bed and make sure it was dry and staying rust free. Haven't done that in 2 years now. :| So many things that I used to do when taking care of my truck I can't do now..lol.
