  1. thanks this truck (alex's truck in pics) is a bone stock LQ9 04' SSS with a Radix. only mods we are doing is a 3.0" pulley, custom tune, full exhaust with LT headers, CAI... thats going to come out to about 460-470 WHP. for that setup, this build is more than enough. no billet shafts because A. he isnt running it at the track every week with a HUGE torque converter (going with a TBTC or mild yank/pi 2600) although he does track it for fun every once in a while... and B. the power just isnt enough to break the shaft(s). is it possible? sure. will he break them? probably a 10% chance he will. is 10% worth $1100 to you is the question? and in my professional opinion of doing this every day, i told him no its not. he seemed to agree my SSS- 600+ WHP and it tows 15k lbs weekly (pick up/deliver customer cars/trucks in huge enclosed race trailer) and goes drag racing often. it NEEDS those shafts, it WILL break them. what is your setup exactly?
  2. so this is the build thread for Blk_SS aka Alex, and his 2004 Silverado SS w/ 112 Radix. he is a great guy, and came to me recently to get an extensive lowering kit installed. however, he was out drag racing at a local track the weekend before and noticed his tranny didnt feel right. he asked me to check it out when he came to drop truck off for suspension work, tunrs out it was TOAST. stock 65e on an AWD SSS with a Radix, 80k miles. so it was on its last leg BUT no frown faces, as its on its way to being an awesome truck once again! i promised him since he couldnt be here too often (crazy work schedule) that id take lots of pics along the way and make a build thread. so here it is! heres some pics, and i will post more pics and detailed descriptions of everything in the build as we go what he is getting: we are building the 4L65e in his truck to our KP Stage 3 65e- this is roughly the specs of a level 5 FLT (a little more parts than level 5 actually). we rate these transmissions to 500 WHP and garuntee for 1 year, as with all work performed. heres a detailed parts list, its not everything but its most of the things going in- -Complete rebuild of current 4L65e -Alto Red Eagle Clutches (Master Clutch Kit- All Clutches) Including RedEagle Full Size 3-4 Clutch Pack (8 fullsize clutches/7 fullsize steels) -Sonnax Billet Intermediate and 4th/Overdrive Servos, including Sonnax "Long Pin" Servo Pin -New 13 Vane Pump Rebuild Kit w/ High Pressure/RPM Pump Spring -Borg Warner 29 Element Double-Caged Forward Sprag (In New Input Sprag Assembly) -Alto Red 2-4 Wide Band -New 2-4 Band Drum w/ Reinforced Lugs -New Alto Molded Pistons -"Beast" Sun Shell Kit -Extra Wide Stator Bushing -All New Thrust Washers, Bearings, and Bushings (Teflon) -Transgo HD-2 Shift Kit -Transgo Zinc Coated HD Valvebody Spacer Plate -New Sonnax Pinless Accumlator Pistons -B&M Supercooler External Trans Cooler -New Seals, GM Filter/Pan Gasket, GM Dex VI Thats most parts more or less... This truck doesnt need billet shafts or anything like that. So here are the pics! I removed the trans tonight, and started the tear down as well. Will be starting the rebuild tomorrow, and am waiting on some Alto parts as many are special order. getting ready to come out draining the tcase the old exhaust out- not going back in! make room for a custom magnaflow system tcase out, crossmember out, TC disconnected from flexplate- getting ready to pull bellhousing bolts trans is out! parts and hardware neatly put away its ok, you will be together again soon... dont be sad meanwhile, 1700 WHP sits dormant (random, just looked cool to me accidentally parked together) all ready to be covered in ATF and broken burnt-up parts more pics coming later, as i get it apart and start building it! yes it is 2 am, yes i am doing this right now not just posting John
  3. i dunno what you guys are talking about, thats the stock location and looks right to me???
  4. well i can tell you right now that you wont find them cheaper, so id do those lol. and this time it has the right tire size
  5. i know but thats still not right. not sayinig your truck isnt as fast as you think or anything like that... im just saying HIS truck isnt what he thinks. and they are 6k lbs btw. not much different than your truck
  6. obviously it was a joke, you know what i mean!!!
  7. hell no! at that price, its more like a gang rape and to make matters worse, it clearly does ACTUALLY put 500 WHP down, theres no way in hell. i know i know im sure he had a dyno chart... if i had a dollar for every faked/edited dyno sheet OR they just print someone elses sheet entirely.... well id have like $26
  8. wow someone got bent over the counter.... LOL
  9. i do sell them, but dont have any chrome in stock right now. but thats in your favor cause i can have the supplier ship directly to you, much less if any shipping charges. the chrome 22x10 replicas go for about $1250-1300 shipped. OR i can mount/high speed road force balance them for you and ship ready to go. we sell just about every brand tire as well John
  10. i think im extremely humble! i have never been wrong, ever. one time i thought i was wrong, but turns out i was mistaken Lmao I say this all the time to my wife lol i heard that a long time ago i thought it was not only hilarious but perfect for me since i get ragged on about that all the time
  11. i painted all mine and a bunch of peoples trucks... like said above we just paint them in the folded position as they do not disassemble. honestly there is no visible clear line and the process i use lasts- so far oldest set is 6 years and not one chip off the plastic even with impact into garbage cans, etc. its a little mod but man does it make a huge difference! dont have any great pics showing mirrors but heres some- keep in mind, they cannot just be cleaned and sprayed- not only will the texture most likely show through but paint will chip off in large chips due to the fact paint will not adhere to plastic. there is a special process to do these correctly. good luck! John
  12. for starters, i would never run a 305/55R20... i think you misread or typed that... everybody runs the 305/50R20. a 55 seiries 305 would be TALL (33.3" to be exact). you could run the 305 since its a wider wheel than stock SSS wheel ("technically" the 305 is too wide for stock SSS wheels but it can be done) those wheels will clear a 3/4 fine, if the drop is done right. i still wouldnt do a 305 IMO. the 295/50R20 (31.6", almost exactly stock size less .25", which wont hurt with a big drop like that- granted stock theyd look a little off but not much) thats just my professional opinion though. good luck! John
  13. would this be a 6.2 L Raptor or a 5.4 L Raptor...? people dont seem to realize- the 5.4 L Raptor runs 16s, and the 6.2 L runs low 15s/high high 14s with a tail wind good race either way funny thing is, most of those people who dont realize it are the Raptor owners (i love these trucks ford guys, not flaming anyone- they drive great look great and are built great- but fast is one thing they are NOT lol) EDIT: now i can see the "6.2 L" badges on the doors.. nvm!
  14. ohhhhh shit.... now jasons seen this. everybody keep your eyes open for another 427 LSx build thread soon
  15. really you got to stop lying and saying im a knowledable, nice person... that must be misleading, andrew is always telling me how big of an ass hole i am i think im extremely humble! i have never been wrong, ever. one time i thought i was wrong, but turns out i was mistaken they sure are! big ass things didnt wanna play nice with the tire machine looks MUCH better now though, i like it
  16. i have a few silver blades in stock new... one is ported. i dont have any used ones right now tho... i can do your LS3 TB + $100 for one, non-ported. PM me if your interested, i might have ONE used one i can sell you for a little less...
  17. ill buy the center console off you right now, and will send you the stock jump seat and center console for you to put back John oh and when you say seat covers... the JGP seats are a bit different foam and frame. you mean the whole seat or literally just the covers? cause the covers really would only fit another JGP seat. but if you wanna sell both those seats, i can ship you back stock leather seats along with the matching center console/jump seat.
  18. yeah those two mods do not require any PCM changes, they will not affect your tune at all. if the speedo is off like said above, thats the only reason youd need another tune. and yes the TR6 plugs are very very popular in boosted LS motors, they work great and are cheap as hell. just need to be replaced more often being copper, like every 20k or so
  19. dont worry i have more than 1 of everything, i still have your stuff
  20. shoot me a PM i have all that stuff in stock John
  21. yeah taylor bring some tracers itll be more entertaining to the crowd
