    Muscle Cars?

I was driving through town and had a Nova go by me. The driver kept gassing it; was sure it they were just playing around. We caught the next street light and I look over to this lady just smiling at me. It sounded like there was something serious under the hood and she had cutouts. I stalled it up and took off at green and all I could hear was her roasting the tires trying to get traction. I took it back down to 45 after leaving some distance and she slowly pulled up next to me and then left some 80 foot burn out tracks when she floored it.
  2. Brody did the cam, hardend pushrods, and high volume oil pump. Underground did my headers, torque convertor, and LS6 valve springs. What cam are you going with? Are you replacing anything else during the cam swap?
  3. I have run into only one 88-98 that had pulled on me and it was from a roll down the highway; and it wasn't lime green. Maybe I'll catch this guy at a light when I'm on the south side; should have no trouble putting lenghts between us even with the 400 pounds in the bed. I'm making around 450-480 at the crank.
  4. Truck runs really good with the new cam. When Carter tuned my truck he couldn't get the idle to smooth out when I was coming to a stop. Found out that my throttle body was gunked up, cleaned it out and it now runs really smooth. Also had to go with bigger injectors; i was pushing the 26's to 129%, so I got a set of 44's. I've had issues bumping into open loop and the WOT shift dropping from 6400 to around 6100 but I'm having those taken care of and should be ready to run against Carters truck this summer .
  5. He must of bought the cheap tires! I paid $400 for one rear tire after running over a bolt; it was from a shop that mainly deals with vettes. I've done a great burnout in an 06 vette from a roll, over hundred feet before I let off the gas (with the traction control turned off). That would of been a great burnout if he had dropped that clutch from a roll in a Z06.
  6. I'm impressed with the denali performance. My freind in his 08 sierra denali and I went from 55, I pulled on him in the begining but when I shifted into third he went right buy me. Of course this was before cam, torque converter, retune, and I have a slight problem bumping into open loop. I need to have a rematch with him with my current mods. If I was going to buy a new silverado/sierra pickup I would get the 6.2 and selectable 2/4wd.
  7. I have my Class A CDL in AK with all of the endorsements. (Only thing I don't have a license for is a motorcycle) I only got my CDL for the extra two dollars an hour and they paid for the test and the cost of the license. For me the hardest part of learning how to drive was learning the synchronized shifting. The legal blood alcohol content should only be that low while your operating a commercial vehicle not your daily driver.

    Titan Goes Down

On my way to the university today I was waiting at a light and a titan pulls up next to me with a military guy in uniform. I could see him eyeing my truck out of the corner of my eye. Light goes green and give it a little more gas than usual to see if he wanted to play and he took the bait. I had around 6 truck lenghts on him by the time I hit 80. When he went buy he gave me the tumbs up . I could see that he had at least aftermarket exhaust.
  9. I will probably need to rebuild my transmission soon; I'm surprised that its held up this long. I had my exhaust done a Taylor's back in 06 (I thought that Jim was going to do it) now I have all kinds of bends and reducers...... good thing the muffler is straight through. Underground Performance is good; I had Nick put in my headers, 1.85 rockers(too big for my new cam), ls6 vavle springs, and my torque converter. Fast times (Brody and Carter) not sure if they had a shop yet.... Carter is on this site, he tunes with hptuners. I had Brody install my cam, hardened pushrods, and high volume oil pump in his garage over on the east side of town. I though that they were still deployed because I didn't see either of them at the track this summer. I lost the business card they gave me. Here is the last number that I had for Carter 907-350-5779
  10. Looks good! I see a few pics from Beluga point and one at Mchugh creek. I have some pics of mine when I got married in July at Bird Point, I won't be showing anyone those pics. Those girls got a little carried away with decorating .
  11. Is this the same whippled black SS that was owned by a girl that worked at a tanning salon off of Denali St.?
  12. I believe that I have seen your truck on campus in the RH parking lot. I don't trust any of those young college kids with their beaters . I park my 06 max in the lot next to the King Career Center far away from them. I'm only there on mondays and wednesdays.

    Open Loop

How can I get my truck to run open loop when I go past 3/4 throttle? What do I need to change out, that is causing my truck to stay in closed loop? The first time all summer I felt it run open loop was at the track; the only way I could tell was the 6400 WOT shifts. Not sure if it was the burn out with flooring it from a stop that bumped it into open loop?

    Went To The Track

I still have my cats; aleast until they get rid of the emission testing here in 2010. What difference would I see removing my cats?

    Went To The Track

I was hoping for 13's with all of my mods. Temp was hanging around mid 60's was pretty humid. Just sent Justin an email.

    Went To The Track

Here is my best run of the night. 60ft.....2.0699 330ft...6.0230 594ft...8.7420 1/8et...9.3431 1/8mph...74.86 1/4et.......14.5939 1/4mph....91.26 Last year I was running it with my bed cover and tailgate on and in 4wd; my best was a 14.7 @ 92.5. This was before the new cam, tc, valve springs, 44lb injectors, and retune. I was digging really good for leaving it in 2wd; but at the top of each gear (6400rpms WOT shift) it felt pretty gutless . I'm running a Comp Cams 222º/224º .566"/.568" 112LSA and I have 44lb injectors...... I should have plenty of cam and fuel for power the high up. Any ideas?
  17. I went to the track yesterday; and the vehicle inspector looked under the front end and said that I had a bad CV joint on the passenger side. I took a look and saw it covered with fluid. It wasn't leaking bad enough, so I was able to race still. How much work is involved in changing this out myself? How much would you expect it to cost if I took it to a shop?
  18. I'm using a 160* SLP stat that worked fine for the last two years I've used it. I had plenty of heat, even during the three weeks of -30* last winter. It always sits outside (I'm glad that I have the Viper SST).
  19. 680,000 car x $4,500 a car =3,060,000,000 / 138,000,000 taxpayers = $22.17 a person. I know that it really isn't that much per person; that is are money being used to "stimulate the economy". Maybe next they will offer cash to buy houses; to get the housing market back on track. Why don't they ship out the twelve million illegal immigrants (the same ones that Obama wanted to grant amnesty to) and give those jobs back to U.S. citizens; that would make the unemployment rate drop.
  20. The 2007 XLR-V is the August car on my Car and Driver Calendar. It has the supercharged 4.4L north star engine making 443hp and 414 ft lbs with a 4.5second 0-60.
  21. Seat of the pants test was definitley feeling more power. I tought that my seat of the pants test was desensitized after seeing the numbers .
  22. I was hopping for that 380 rwhp; I now feel a lot better about already having it. I guess the track will really show me what it can do.
  23. Thanks Justin for checking in and explaining what had happened to me on the dyno. Is there anything that I can do about the torque converter loss?
  24. It was on the same dyno; the only difference that I know of was that it was 15 degrees hotter. How accurate is the crank and wheel horse power with the efi live software? (Not sure which software you tune with)
  25. Comp Cams 222º/224º .566"/.568" 112LSA, I dynoed with 90 which is the highest we can get at the pump; I run it all the time, I had all the tuning done with 90 octane in the tank, ran the truck in fourth gear, nothing else has been done to the tranny.
