95+ Oldsmobile Aurora. For the money you won't get a more luxurious, fast, loaded ride on the planet.

Second choice, police interceptor. Loved both of them (actually just sold the interceptor about half and hour ago).

EDIT: Didn't see the end of your post... I don't know anything about SUV's.

Yep looking for a SUV under $10K. So far most think the Trailblazer or Tahoe is a good fit. I'd love to haev a Tahoe if I can find one within my price range. Just got to be patient I guess.

Don't like the Buick Rainier? Same frame/truck as TB, but with the 5.3L. Your best bet is to do research. Go to edmunds.com and look at the specs and read the reviews for the vehicles you are looking for. You would be surprised that like the older models 4.7L Jeep GC has only 235hp, but the I6 4.2L has 265-285hp depending on the year. I pulled up some specs on some of the models you are considering...I already had this done for my own research since I am looking for a similar vehicle for similar reasons.

2005 Buick Rainier 6cyl. CXL

http://www.edmunds.com/used/2005/buick/rai...0692/specs.html

2004 Chevy Trailblazer LT 4x4

http://www.edmunds.com/used/2004/chevrolet...4645/specs.html

2002 Chevrolet Tahoe LT 4x4

http://www.edmunds.com/used/2002/chevrolet...2789/specs.html

2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4x4 4.7L V8 - torquey little bastard...but weak on HP. 2005 is the first model year of the new body style.

http://www.edmunds.com/used/2005/jeep/gran...7049/specs.html

2007 Chevrolet Equinox - 3500lb towing capacity, more car like than TB, Tahoe, etc. 185hp, getting closer to that 20mpg fuel economy than the others. If 3500lbs is all you need to tow, this might be an option as well. My dads high school best friend tows his 16ft deep hull fishing boat all over Michigan with his Equinox and has never had an issue. We even took it on our salmon fishing trip last summer and was comfortable with 3 big guys in it plus fishing gear.

2003 Nissan Xterra 4x4 old body style

2005 Nissan Xterra 4x4 New body style. Huge improvement over old one.

Yeah I've thougth about the Explorers also. I keep checking vehicles out on eBay lol :jester: .

That would be the worst idea ever. Those Explorers are POS's to be sure - no handling, bad gas mileage, and crappy rides. Like others have said I wouldn't touch em with a 10 footer.

I currently have a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer LT (leather, 6 disc, etc) with 70k for sale. I put it on here awhile back but didn't get any interest. Bad part here is that I'm in SoDak. Gas mileage isn't terrible - bout 13-14 in town and avg 20 hwy. I personally really like it, but am upgrading so I no longer have a need for it.

I guess for comfort, ride and mpg I would probably look at the Tahoe a lot closer. My dad has a '95 Suburban that still gets 18 on the hwy. Those Tahoes were very similar, although once ya get to '96 or later the mpg falls substantially due to the vortec.

I guess I've never been scared of looking at wrecked vehicles either if you know what to look for as you can find some really good deals so that may be an option as well, but of course its up to you. Just a thought.

:withstupid: Not to mention, they are notorious for flipping over also.....

Too nice of a vehicle to be a DD plus I want to spend under $10K.

The Jeep grand cherokee seems to be the best priced for what you get. I do like the trailblazers but those v6's suck. My buddy had one before he bought his truck and MPG were worse than his truck or mine.

not true! here is a 2002 tbss for ya. a sort of....... "special" one with a inline 6. will yield pretty decent mileage though. also im pretty sure it wont be too much over $10K. CHECK IT OUT! :)

by the way, im from bonham and will be up there this weekend actually. i would have no prob stopping by and checking it out for you.

Jeremy...

#2 - Go with a Crown Vic P71 and a Uhaul trailer hitch. Cheap to get, cheap to fix and they run forever. With the money you save, then go get yourself a dencet ride in a couple years ...

LOL ... that's all ...

Agree, my P71 was indestructible and had 150K on it, easy to find, black it out, its BAMF plus have U-Haul install that hitch, they tough and versatile vehicles!
