  1. I'm no expert at this man, but for an AWD, you should try and match your tires' OD as close as possible. It is my understanding that width is not too big a deal, but a difference in OD as much as .6" can wear out your awd drivetrain components considerably fast in the long run, and as you noted yourself, the spare is not meant for long term use. You want to match the number of revolutions per mile for each tire. Like I said I'm no expert, but I would try to get the OD closer if possible to being the same all around. This sounds like it will be pretty cool, though, I'm guessing you're going with Asanti's? Either way, whatever you decide, good luck. EDIT: Never mind the question I just saw your poll on the wheels.
  2. Take care. I don't know you personally, but you will be in my prayers.
  3. Welcome, as mentioned, show some pics!
  4. A good torque wrench will cost from about 85$ for a Craftsman to $260 for a Snap-on, and this is for the adjustable click type. These are the cheapest ones, I don't think u want to go all crazy with a digital one, those can get really expensive.
  5. Wow man that really sucks. I admit I had a little trouble with mine, but that was because I cut the mid-pipe right before the cat. At first I wanted to keep them, but the header was too long, so I came to my senses and cut off the cats. The passenger side header slipped in easily after that, while the driver side took a little more finesse, yet I somehow failed to notice that the driver side was contacting the heat shield. I wonder if the fact that mine is a 5.3 really makes any difference? Anyway man, I'm sorry to hear you had so much trouble with the install...hopefully it was all worth it for you.
  6. make sure that your headers are not up against or contacting anything. One of mine was up against the firewall when I first put them in (I don't know how I missed it when I put it in), and it caused a lot of rattle when shifting into reverse, or during any gear shifts.
  7. That thing is bad-ass! It's like a full scale model of the little die-cast hot rods!
  8. The muffler itself does not have an x-pipe built in like some Magnaflow or Dynomax mufflers do if that's what you're asking. I can't say I know if it will behave like an x pipe though.
  9. welcome That's a nice clean truck.
  10. For a time, I actually saw them going on ebay for a little above 200$. I haven't seen them since, and that was back around november.
  11. Thanks, I had no idea that could happen. If that's the case I will get it done this weekend, I havent been too worried about it since the truck has been in the garage for the past couple of months.
  12. Add the long tube headers, and if you think your free-flowing exhaust is the culprit for lost torque, you can gain some if not all or more of the torque lost by adding an x-pipe.
  13. Make sure you got long tube headers too. A cam (heads too if you can afford it) and stall will help.
  14. Hey Mr P, it's cool to see someone else w/these same headers (but mine are on a 5.3)! I had no trouble getting mine in after cutting off the cats, but after driving it around I noticed there was a horrible rattling sound at times. I took a look and noticed a the driver side header was not just touching it, but right up against the firewall heat shield! Not trying to hijack here, but you think it will be all right to take it off or maybe cut off the area where the header hits? Other than these clearance issues, these headers are pretty badass, hope you like em. P.S. I had no problems with the passenger side, so hopefully you don't either.
  15. Yeah that "Hot and Fluffy" DVD is pretty funny!
  16. Looks pretty damn good! Lovin that stance.
  17. Nah I'm not diggin it, not a fan of the rims, but the 'Vette center caps are cool though. But damn how many times you gotta show off the LEDs? This is ghetto...
  18. I like the paint scheme and it would also look good reversed, in which case black powdercoat the wheels with the red stripe and it will look killer!
