  1. Location might also help too...
  2. The dex 6 has much better properties then the dex 3 . The down side is that the dirt is suspended in the fluid so it appears to get dirty fast. I like the fact that I can drive say 4 hours straight and the trans still feels solid when you come to a stop light and and have to get in it....
  3. Well I have seen worse. As long as it does not smell Burnt. I would ask your tranny tech for his thought. If you do a flush, as mentioned change the Filter. The service used to be 25k miles on the fluid and 50k fluid and filter. But now the fluids have changed and have different life spans. I don't always follow miles I follow fluid conditions if it looks like its getting dark at 10-15 k I do it right away.
  4. Along with the things mentioned, Dont forget to get the brake fluid copletely flushed. ( not just a drain and fill, a full flush of the sytem includeing using a scan tool to activate the pump) Most people skip this and this is usually how master cylinders, calipers, wheel cylinders, brake lines, and ABS pumps go bad. The fluid brakes down and absorbs water over time. it also starts to become more corrosive as it does so.
  5. Keep in mind that the sun roof option was rare. It was like 1 in 10 produced that had the moon/sun roof option. Go after the best deal you can find. You can always add things like that later. I want a silver 05 SS with AWD. The only one I could find the guy wants 28K for it. I can get the same truck with out that option for 18-20K and add it in later on and still have money left over to put brand new 06 hood and grille on and buy Insurance for a year.
  6. So much for respect your elders... This goes back to what your parents told you, If every one else jumped off a bridge for no reason would you??? I like how the toyota made it through thats iceing on the cake!!!!
  7. 9.5, 10.5 ,11.5 are the size of the ring gear. Each one is different and parts generally don't interchange Full floater refers to the type of axle shafts it uses. In the 9.5 it uses a c clip to hold the axle in so it is refered to as a semi Floater because it can still move a little bit. In a full floater the axle Floats in the Diff and is bolted to a hub to drive the wheel. Here is a huge thread on the 10.5 full float version http://pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/14b_bible/index.html Mitchel differential sales a 6 lug conversion for floaters... but this whole set up weighs alot more then the 9.5 rear end. http://www.mitchelldiff.com/customaxles/fullfloatconversionkit.html?gclid=CPjUpL3Z66wCFUKR7Qod7WtiJQ
  8. You know Time2Kill has a used one for sale in the Parts For Sale section. He is parting out 2 AWD SS trucks.
  9. Your talking about the one on Graigs list from a roll over. No Thats gonna be a 10.5 full floater. You would need custom hubs made there like 5-$600 and i am not sure you would probally have to get rotors welded and re drilled for the 6 lug. There is another one. I was gonna buy it but I am short on space.
  10. I was the one that did the work I beleive it was something like this. Used rear $250 - Re used 3.73 Gears from this. Used TBSS Clutch style Posi $200 New Axles $150-$200 Custom made disc brake flanges $100 Powder coating something like this typically $150-$200 aftermarket TA girdle is around $160 Shipped. Diff studs from TA were like $20-$30 The disc brake backing plates were re-used but he upgrade to the SUV twin piston calipers and thicker SUV rear rotors. The calipers were a used Ebay deal. The New Pads, Rotors and needed hardware were purchased at local auto parts store. Everything else was experimental. The tooling was all one off and most of that part of it came out of my pocket and was made by me in my spare time at a freiends Shop. Since this was a friend of mine and It was done in spare time we both agreed on fair compensation. If I were to do another housing like this It would probally run around $500 in Labor / Materials.
  11. That's pretty poor. Only a 3 month warranty??? Did the shop install the front Diff at that price??? Because at that price, It sounds like they installed a used part to me. Jasper stands behind there stuff but they can be pricey.
  12. Yes, you can convert it if it is a 1500 HD or the the early 99-2000 2500LD As long as it is a 9.5 Semi Float rear end. I have done this conversion. The 6 lug axles are off the shelf too. You will need custom made flanges. Here's all the documinatation I put together on the14 bolt 9.5 SF rear end. http://www.performancetrucks.net/forums/gm-drivetrain-suspension-22/official-14-bolt-9-5-sf-truck-thread-467473/ Here's a direct link to a 1500 HD / 2500LD custom build. http://www.performancetrucks.net/forums/projects-gallery-189/14-bolt-build-mucho-pictures-477641/
  13. That place does not have a good reputation from what I have read on other forums. How ever in this case I believe you have issues with both your tunner and the builder. Your temps should not be that high cruising around with a cooler like that...
  14. On the 4L80E, 99 was when they introduced the 12 o'clock position bolt hole for the LS engine. But there were some small changes made in 2001 that were considered running changes. They changed the lube holes in 1 of the shafts, there were some small changes to some of the other parts but I would have to get out the ATSG manual for the exact changes. Many people have used the 95-99 style case on the LS engines which do not have the 12 o'clock bolt hole position.
  15. Time2kill has most of it in the for sale section. Escalde had the 3.73 front diff.
  16. I was told by some SS guys that the 4.10's will load the turbo fine in an AWD setup. In 2WD 3.73 or 3.42 work better. CHPSpecial Has 4:10's in his AWD SS and he runs a turbo set up. How soon on the AWD conversion??? I have a few set's of 3.73's for the 14 bolt if you still decide to go that route.
  17. Whats in your truck now??? I see you wish you had kept some 3:73's around. Do you need them for your truck or just want to play with them and see how you like it...
