I wish it was that simple! My starter seems to be working great and I changed the ignition switch with no cure.

Just this morning when I went out to start it. I talked to a guy I know at the dealer and he talked to some service guys and apparently it could be a problem in the underhood fuse block causing the BCM to get power from an incorrect source. He said it could be caused from water getting into the fuse box and maybe corroding some connections. So I'm going to fully take that apart later today and clean everything up super well and check everything that I can and see if that fixes my problem.

Well I replaced the switch which was pretty easy and everyone at the dealer said that had to be the problem as well. Problem is it did not fix the problem still does the exact same thing. I will say though that the new ignition switch really tightened up the key feels like a new truck. So my question is where do I go from here... this is such a strange problem!

I've got a ignition switch in will call at the dealer so I'll go pick that up. I can't imagine anything else being the problem at this point so I'll give this a try and its pretty cheap. I'll report back once I get it installed.

No it won't grind because the truck has some kinda built in safety that won't let it grind once the engine is running. I can hold down the switch while its running and it won't engage, and I can also start the truck regularly it I just turn the switch quick enough to sort of skip the ON position and go right to start and it starts right up. But if I leave it in "ON" without the engine running it will continue to try and start. I've got a video uploading of what it does but its taking a bit I'll post the link once its up.

Thanks thats a very good guess! I wonder if there is a way I can test the switch to see if its doing just that (which it probably is)....

Hey guys my truck started doing a weird thing this morning that I have never seen before. I went to leave for work and went to start my truck with the key and as soon as I turn my key to the ignition ON position (not start) the starter immediately cranks for a couple seconds stops then tries again. So what I have already done is completely removed my remote start system, checked the underhood fuse block, switched starter relays in the fuse block and a couple other things. I can't seem to figure this out and I have never seen this problem before and can't find much on it anywhere when searching. I'll see if I can make a quick video of it. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Like others said just make sure your fluids are topped off or changed. I drove my SS from California to Alaska 3,000 miles without a single problem when I bought it. I just made sure the fluids where all good and topped off and checked the oil sometimes while I was filling up. Good luck on the trip.

Thanks guys! I did drill two small holes and used two machine screws with nuts and washers on that back to attach the plate bracket and the factory clip on the bottom. It looks pretty good on there so it will probably stay on, I don't want to be pulled over again for a stupid reason like this. That was just dumb. No I don't think so... Why do you ask? lol

Congrats on the truck! That thing is mint, amazing someone kept the mileage off it, also must be amazing to drive one of these trucks with such low mileage.

Well excuse the rant but.... Yesterday morning I drove my SS down to Home Depot around 10:30 am. On my way back I pulled up to the stop light with my signal on to turn left coming out of the parking lot while I was waiting (first in line) I noticed a cop pulled up going the other way and stopped. My light turned green and I normally turned left with other cars following me. As I continued straight I looked in my mirror to see the cop do a U-turn and follow traffic. I made some more turns with the traffic following me and the cop behind them and after a bit the cop lit up and the traffic pulled over and he went after me! I had made no driving errors of any kind and this was 10:30 am as well. Turns out he pulled me over just on the fact that I have no front plate (it was in the windshield because there is no holes in my bumper.) Its been this way since new and for the almost 5 years I've owned it. Anyhow I just thought it was a bit strange that I got pulled over for such a small thing. Sorry for the rant but I just thought it was worth posting now I've got the plate bracket installed that I bought 5 years ago and never put on so I can have the ticket fixed.

About time you update that, although I haven't touched mine in a long time as well! I also noticed the timeslips glitch no idea what the fix is for that.

Sounds like a good setup, I did the same upgrade but left the hoses stock. Everything works great and the pedal is a lot tighter than previously. I used to have a very spongy pedal. Also don't forget about the caliper brackets as well. All the parts I used where Reybestos because that is what my parts store could get me.

That is pretty amazing! I had one of those factory 2003 Delco battery's in my 69 Chevy, it worked great up until the end of last year and it finally gave up so I guess it got used for 9 years but only for the last 5 in my ownership.
