  1. Mine is my daily driver! Only problems I listed that I've had was oil cooler lines at around 140,000 when I bought it and the transmission started losing 3rd/4th gear somewhere after 150k. I did both repairs on it myself, replaced the lines and pulled the transmission and installed a replacement with 26,000 miles from the junkyard. Everything else has been fine with the truck except for minor problems here and there.
  2. Just as a heads up I did run the book on it and it showing high book on nada is only 15,250 but that is definitely a nice truck so maybe its worth a bit more. Fairy bad on gas I get about 13 in the city if driving normally and I've gotten up to 18 on a long highway trip. The city mileage can really go down if you idle it a lot or drive them hard. A couple common things to looks for are leaking oil cooler lines, transmission problems, front differential noise, gauge cluster stepper motors (was a recall but since expired), and I'm sure there's more but those are some common problems that have been associated with these trucks.
  3. LOL 03-06 Silverado's don't have EGR valves. Also I'll add to this definitely check the oil cooler lines I had to replace mine when I bought my truck they leaked pretty bad. Although I do find it somewhat normal to check the oil between oil changes and add some when it reads a bit low.
  4. That looks like a super nice truck one of the cleanest ones I've seen for sale for awhile. Maybe offer a bit less but otherwise I would assume that is a pretty fair price for it due to the lower mileage and overall condition.
  5. Well written! Those are all very good ideas that would definitely help the site pick up more traffic. I also like your ideas on the how to section that definitely needs to be revised.
  6. Very nice good replacement for sure! Keep us updated with pics when you get the new (old) hood on!
  7. That is way too cold, I think its cold enough right here in Anchorage at -10! Haha
  8. Besides the fender flares I also see a boost and fuel pressure gauge on the pillar and what looks like a old heat exchanger behind the grill. Must have been supercharged at some point which explains the wrong engine cover.
  9. Get Dorman part numbers: Lower: # 641105 Upper: # 641106 I got those part numbers from Amazon. The kit you looked up is just a universal kit thats not plug and play for our trucks.
  10. Well luckily that doesn't look to bad, that could have ended much worse. Hopefully you can get it all fixed back up soon.
  11. I just got a little screw driver and popped the clips out to remove the lines off the side of the transmission when I pulled my trans. It was a little tricky but you should be able to get it.
  12. Yeah that would be fun! I would definitely like to go to the track this summer sometime. I'm no professional guy but I do my best lol and I think that was someone else holding my camera, good video none the less. Keep me informed if you guys want to do something like that this summer I would be up for it. Not sure if you guys could stay at my place though haha but your welcome to come check out my 57 Bel Air and other car projects I've got!
  13. Question then is what do I put it in?
  14. Very interesting didn't know you could do that! That definitely sounds like the way to go with this block if they can't bore whats there. Then turn it into a 408. The bad cylinder is the famous #7, someone ran it lean with boost, same story as riddler's engine. I wonder where I should take this block to have the work done in Anchorage? I've heard of a place in Chugiak called AC Machine or there is always Midtown or ADB just not sure which one to go with.
  15. Hey Justin, I was under the impression that the iron block LS engines couldn't be resleeved from what I had read, I thought it was only the aluminum block LS engines that could be resleeved I could be totally wrong though. Also Brandon, I've done quite a bit with these LS engines just never torn into the bottom end, but from how the rest of the engine is designed I'm sure it is very straight forward. Like you said they are very easy. I think I am going to try and pull out all the old internals tonight if I get a chance. I've seen that book before but never thought about getting it, guess I'll pick it up just for reference. Who knows though this block might be trashed due to the cylinder wall but I'm no machinist so we'll see...
  16. No to hijack your thread but.... LOL I'm fixing to build up a 6.0L block that I picked up as well although it has some pretty good damage to one cylinder wall so I need to take it to a machine shop to see what it can be bored to. By the looks of the one cylinder wall it might have to be bored to 4.060 or .065 since I've heard that is the max, the rest of the block is perfect other the one cylinder wall. Any tips on putting together the lower ends of these 6.0Ls?
  17. Good looking truck! Welcome to the site. That TVS 1900 will really wake up that 4.8L and I bet that 5 speed makes that thing fun to drive.
  18. Its a common problem, I had to replace my rear pads and rotors a while ago when I upgraded my front brakes. The fronts always last longer from what I've seen although they do most of the braking.
  19. Welcome to the site! That SS looks great, and the sierra was nice too. Looking forward to updated pics of the SS.
  20. Try clearing the code, reduced engine power makes it so the throttle can only open just a bit. If that doesn't fix it there may be a problem with the throttle body connector or its a bad throttle body possibly but that's unlikely.
  21. So glad to see that the truck didn't go to far and got recovered I was excepting to see another stolen and stripped thread. Makes me glad I purchased and got my SS out of Cali before anything happened to it, lol amazing how many of these seem to get stolen. Hopefully you can get it fixed back up soon!
  22. Looks great everything matches great now!! Very nice improvements over the last couple days, good work.
  23. Looks good with the silver ss wheels I like it. Now just get the ducts back to silver!
