1. Thanks for the comeback. I've actually got a set of silver caps but changed out my wheels to later model chrome. My silver wheels and caps are in my GF's barn and I haven't even looked at them in a while. Haven't looked at the chrome ones, up close, in a while either.
2. Oh man; I hate to hear these stories. I despise a sorry @ss thief. The scum of the earth. Scumbag :M16: Hope the cops catch the suckers.
3. Everything is expensive. I always try to buy the best I can possibly afford. The old saying is "Cry once, or cry often".
4. After checking out this part, the one I linked doesn't look authentic.
5. Check these guys out. They claim that these are used OEM in great shape. I can't blow the picture up big enough to see "GM" stamp. http://www.hubcaps.org/options/chvc86options.html Anyone dealt with this outfit before?
6. Looking good brother. You've been busy.
7. The kit I bought included all hard lines, copying all bends. They do put a coupler in the line to the right front. That right front would be very difficult to install if it was one piece. The kit doesn't include the flexible lines to the front calipers or the flex line to the rear axle. Sorry but I don't remember what I paid but that should be easy enough to find on the Fine Lines site. They are not cheap but, I called my dealerabout the price of the OEM replacement, (plain steel), line that blew out on my SSS and compared to the stainless set, the OEM line was VERY high. No brainer to go with the stainless if you want to replace all lines. Cheapest way to go is the local parts store and buy lengths of plain steel lines and coupler fittings. But remember that, as sorry as the OEM steel lines are, you'll be replacing rusted out segments regularly over a couple years.
8. Yeah, I felt lucky that the guy at the body shop wanted it and I didn't have to transport or store it till someone else came along. ">http:// ">http://http://s228.photobucket.com/user/Jakeshuman/media/SSS/DSC06069_zpskmwqht9f.jpg.html'>
9. I can't argue on the user friendliness issue. There are problems there. It's always been more productive to search google with the site name in your search, than to use the sites search engine. Photobuckets big changes have made it harder to post pictures. (I've never tried the sites picture add function but have read that it is less than stellar). The site has slowed so much in the last year or more that I imagine that the folks who control the site don't see much advantage in upgrading it. Aside from trying to help guys searching for answers, I will continue to post here in an effort to keep the site active enough that it will be seen as worthy of keeping alive, because it is a valuable info source. If a new SSS site gets started; I will check it out and likely join.
10. Do you trust this shop completely? It is way more likely to be an upstream problem, (As the three guys above mention.) If I didn't have a long term good relationship with the shop I would get a second opinion, (If I didn't have the means to analyze it myself.)
11. That makes no sense. There is more info pertaining to these trucks, on these pages now, than a new site will gather from now till the time when the last of the trucks are piles of dust.
12. Check out this thread on roll pans. He never posted that they were all sold. A couple guys here bought them and were happy with the fit and finish. http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/topic/87371-custom-fiberglass-silverado-ss-roll-pans/ Very few of these trucks don't need some love at this point, but I agree with you, they are special. I've owned all the major US makes, through the years. Right now I prefer a Chevy/GM, but none of the makes are terrible any more.
13. Working on the hood pic. Getting ready for hurricane, actually tropical storm, Maria. Gonna be wet here for a couple days. I agree about the prob of storing the old hood. Made a young guy at the body shop a real good deal on the old one.
14. Thanks for the heads up. I confess to not studying the add very closely.
15. Keep an eye out on the bay. They come up from time to time. http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/222438894081?chn=ps&dispItem=1
16. I believe you when you say that there is plenty of money in the wheely. It is at least possible that the original owner of your SS is or has been a member. You might list any mods to the truck. Might make it easier for someone to recognize. If she had reg maintenance to 110K it should be in decent shape. Is that an SS rear bumper? (Looks short top to bottom) Is that a bed liner in the bed?
17. Welcome to the site Dan. Congratulations on the SSS. Plain to see you and your wife are truck guy's. Pretty impressive that Dodge picking up a front tire.
18. Sounds logical Dan. You may have figured it out.
19. Thats a great looking truck, but I think he's maybe just a little high , (On his price and maybe high on some substance as well.)
20. Most of us have probably noticed the fact that past post's with photos hosted on photobucket are no longer view-able. It has become a problem on many forums and reduces the value of many of our "How to" threads. I've seen this "add on" posted on several forums as a fix for the problem. My OS is too old to even check it out and see if it works but I wanted to post it up here hoping that someone here with current tech can check it out and see if it will be a help. Firefox fix https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/android/addon/photobucket-embedded-fix/?src=api Google chrome fix https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/photobucket-embed-fix/naolkcpnnlofnnghnmfegnfnflicjjgj?hl=en
21. Had to be discouraging to have it break in 100 miles. Great list of mods. Good luck with your sale.
22. Mmmm, Crager mags. The latest look in aftermarket wheels. GM did make a Camino SS in that body style but it wasn't badged like that, just a decal.
23. As the old saying goes; "ignorance is bliss". If your too dumb to know that you don't know something it's all good.
