  1. Brand new trans should hold you for a while.
  2. Thanks for the info on the spare assembly. I need to get into some time. Your probably right about 7 bolts holding the box on OK.
  3. I've read that the cable freeze is a real common problem. I'll be surprised if mine isn't. (Haven't tried it.) Bummer about the rust. Mine doesn't look too bad but I haven't taken the bed off yet. Are you going to do anything about the loose nut in the bed rail?
  4. The 4L60 transmission is a weak point in these trucks. they benefit greatly from adding an external cooler. If looking at an AWD truck pay close attention to the front diff. Another week point. (Listen for bearing whine.) Best luck with your search.
  5. Done is good! How did you wind up dealing with the spinning bolt?
  6. You did pretty good just finding the pictures. Sure would be cool if an admin could help out reinstalling them in the orig thread.
  7. Nice wheels. GLWS. What are you going to replace them with?
  8. Your right about the adds and they covered you up with them. Could be right about the new owner idea too.
  9. If you do have to remove the bed I would start by getting the spare tire down and out of the way. Even if I had to call a locksmith. Lots of guys have trouble dropping the spare even with the lock unlocked because the cable system loves to rust up and freeze up. Many have to cut them down. Gonna have to deal with it eventually Now you've got an excuse. I don't think that drilling the bolt head off is going to work because, once the drill bit takes a bite, the bolt will start spinning. With the spare tire out of the way, you should be able to put a socket and breaker bar on the bolt head to keep the bolt from spinning, and get a metal cutting blade in a saw-z-awl up under the head and cut the bolt. Doesn't sound like a fun job, (Actually it sounds and looks like a B-itch), but if you get that far you can figure out what to do to get to the nut.
  10. :rollin: Seriously though, Flex pipe, a couple hose clamps, and a tune to ignore the missing cat and your good to go. Doughty wins with the correct answer.
  11. Sounds like a nice truck. Hope ya find her and she's doing good.
  12. It's pretty discouraging. I've been to several sites with how to type posts and they are all damaged by photobuckets money grabbing policy. At the same time "ya get what ya pay for" and I never gave PB a dime.
  13. We can hope, I guess. I'm thinking that the original owner of the pics would have to resize and re-upload them to a new host site and then edit their original posts, where they first added the pics, to replace the missing photos. Photobucket going for the bucks and holding all their members photos for ransom has destroyed many threads with lost photos.
  14. Welcome to the site Landon. Congratulations on finding your second SSS.
  15. I'll see if they will deal with me on the part. I just figured that mine was as good as they get. Thanks for the link.
  16. Hey Muggs, If you decide to take this job on, do yourself a favor and buy a 9/16 crows foot flair socket. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Snap-on-tools-9-16-crowfoot-6-point-flare-nut-wrench-3-8-drive-FRH180S/362041198280?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D41375%26meid%3D418b9958d57f42aba91d2337c4c98263%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D221758234703 It's the easiest way to deal with the ABS distribution block on the frame rail under the cab. (All of the lines connect to it and it is virtually impossible to work them all with a regular flair wrench.)
  17. Is this the right outfit? There's some good looking stuff on that site. http://www.dualpolymer.com/
  18. Body and paint is a good trick to add to your bag. I need to learn some of it too. (My 2000 silvey DD is rough. Good learning project.) I agree with you about priming too. I would rather go too far in prep than skip corners and have to do it twice. The key hole door I got has a molding dimple on the face side and so needs a little fill prior to paint. Thanks for the tip on the adhesion promoter. I had heard of it but have no real knowledge.
  19. Was your's primed Matt? Mine looks like raw plastic although the ebay add says primed. I call BS.
  20. I've got a 2000 Silvey as well as the SSS and have put full stainless sets of hard lines on both trucks. (Blew out OEM lines on both.) Went with oversize discs and cali's up front on the SSS. Stops good but still have a hydro boost set up to put on her. This era GM trucks are known for bean counter steel lines, (CRAP), and they blow out regularly.
  21. Good to see your still around JD. I gotta check out your products. Will give you a shout if I decide to try them.
  22. Welcome aboard Luis. Congrats on finding your truck.
  23. New truck = Happy freakin day. Congratulations man.
