  1. I would be happy if I was getting that mileage! 12.0 mpg here. I was getting 13mpg but the 305's appear to have robbed a mpg. Oh well, I certainly didn't buy this truck for fuel economy
  2. Finished the rear Z06 Conversion tonight. Z06 brakes on all corners now! Still not much of a pedal but going to the dealer Thursday to get flushed and bleed with the Tech II.

Looks good. How much did the conversion cost.

About $3k including the Hydroboost conversion :(

  3. Front Z06 conversion done! No brake pedal but at-least the parts are on. Hopefully some more bleeding will fix the pedal issue.

  4. I had the same issue right when I bought the truck. Moving was fine and parked or standing in traffic the a/c would blow warm. The clutch setup is definitely to blame but the dealer also replaced the low pressure switch ($12 part) which atleast kept the A/C blowing. Still to this day, it won't blow as cold when still vs when I am moving. I bought e-fans, now just waiting for the $ for a tune. Z06 conversion and new shocks/sways kinda cleaned me out for a bit.
  5. It sounds like the a/c belt and the only thing it runs is the a/c compressor so you wont hurt anything, you just wont have any a/c. It is very simple to change and I would suggest changing out the tensioner at the same time. Change it by going up through the bottom, under the truck. That is what I found to be easiest. Also, to get to the a/c belt, you have to remove the main serpentine belt (the a/c belt sits behind the main belt). While you are at it, I would change the main serpentine belt and tensioner also. To get the main belt off you have to remove the intake tube first, then the fan shroud. It really isn't difficult at all and shouldn't take much time to do.
  6. new shocks to go along with the new sways
  7. Thinking about selling my neoprene CoverKing seat covers if somebody is interested. Awesome quality, they just didn't work out with the dog like I thought they would.

I have a 70lb German Shepherd. Whenever he jumps in the truck, the cover on the seat bottom moves around. He was a puppy when I got them and he would ride in the back. Now that he is an adult and 70 lbs, he wont fit on the rear seat so I have to keep it folded up for him to be comfortable. I took them off to clean them and I think it will be easier leaving them off. They did a great job at protecting the leather though, looks new under the covers.

I contacted CoverKing about them not staying in place (great customer service BTW) and they advised to try no-slip rug mats under the covers but did admit they stay in place better on cloth than leather. When 70 lbs jumps up then hits the brakes, no-slip rug mat isn't going to hold it in place. Never was an issue when he was a puppy.

  8. Where can I get some tilting headrests? They are stupid expensive on Ebay. I don't even need the covers, just the tilting mechanism.

  9. Ok good, now stop jumping your truck.
  10. A bad battery will cause all sorts of electrical issues. Try a slow trickle charge on your current battery or replace if necessary.
  11. I had issues with a evap issue when I first bought the truck but I don't remember what code it threw. Anyway, the Honda dealer I bought the truck from insisted it was the gas cap and replaced it twice before I finally told them it was going to the GM dealer. The GM dealer told them the the canister thing that is located by the gas can needed to be replaced but the Honda dealer didn't want to spend the $, so, they replaced the gas cap again. Light came back on. I finally told them to have the GM dealer replace the canister or they could have this 2 week old truck back. Canister replaced and have not had the problem since. I think it was either P0440 P0442 but it was three years ago, I don't remember.
  12. Just finished this about two weeks ago. One of the things that should have been there from the factory. 100% braking improvement. GLWTS!
  13. I have been driving on my Hydroboost conversion for about two weeks now and it is a 100% improvement over the vacuum setup. However, I keep getting an occasional groan from the power steering pump and it keeps wheeping fluid from the cap... Any ideas?

Yeah, just when turning at slow speeds. It isn't a whine, just a slight groan.

      BLNAWAY

I've noticed this to on my hydroboost but I've come to find out if you accel thru the turn it dosent groan, now if I just cruse thru a turn not using the gas it seems to have this slight groan, I think it has to do with the power it takes to turn and brake at same time overwhelms the pump if that make sense??

It makes sense, I was wondering if it was because I used stock pump and didn't replace it with a hydroboost one. Taking the cheaper way out always bites me in the ass.

  14. Have these trucks gone up in value? I am shocked to see what some people are selling or asking for their SS. Makes me consider selling it sometimes since it is valued more than I paid for it 3 years ago with 30k more miles. I know I would never pay book value for my truck. I just couldn't justify spending 17k on a 10 year old truck with 90k miles. Don't get me wrong, I love this truck and I am not complaining it is worth too much, I'm just making an observation. I have been looking at preowned 03-06 Denali's Escalades and CC Duramax's as a DD and can't believe the asking prices for almost 10 year old 100k+ mile vehicles.
  15. If I stay where I am I can retire in 23 years at 50 years old (already have 3 years in towards a 25 year retirement). If I move back home to New England (like I am considering doing), then I will start a 25 year retirement over again which would have me retiring at around 53 years old. If I were to go Federal (also an option I am considering), then I'll be starting a 20 year retirement over but would have me retiring around 48 years old. What to do, what to do....
  16. Congrats, love a D-max! My SS is almost paid off and a Duramax is next on the list. My friend has an 05' CC 4x4 with 1/4 million miles on it that he is finally thinking about replacing. I'll buy it as soon as he will sell it only because I know the history of it and it has been taken care of since he bought it new. If not, I have been looking of a 06-07 Classic with a sunroof for the improved motor but like mentioned above, people want stupid money for them with stupid miles. I just can't justify paying $30+ for a 6-7 year old truck with over 100k miles. Diesel or not, everything else is no different than any other truck (suspension, front end, brakes, body, interior, ect.)
  17. Took the truck to the self wash car was to remove all the power steering fluid that spilled from the hydroboost swap. Sprayed de-greaser, began rinsing and the factory undercoating came off the frame... OOPS!!!

    1. GI.SS

      GI.SS

yea its a crappy coating and comes off easily. i prefer the 3m undercoating. holds on really well and prevents any rust

      90zxdriver

yeah, right down to bare metal now.

  18. I have the hard fiberglass cover and I hate it. I would never spend the money for it but it came on the truck already. It is really damaging the paint on my bed rails. I had the soft roll-up cover on my old F-150, again, never again. Those snaps are a pita and as mentioned above, if it isn't warm and sunny, it isn't going back on. If I were doing it all over again, it would be a hard tri-folding one or possibly a roll and lock. My buddy has a roll and lock and although I am not 100% sold about on it, I don't dislike it either.
  19. So, like an idiot, I somehow managed to break this stupid plastic sensor off the side of the motor as I was doing my hydroboost conversion. It is in the head on the driver side just behind the alternator. It has two wires that plug into it. What is it so I can order a new one? My guess was a temp sensor.
