  1. You could always unplug the driver's o2 and unscrew it out of the exhaust, if the cat is partially clogged, the hole where the o2 was usually lets them run a little better. Also, while you're under there, make sure the fuel regulator isn't squirting fuel out of where the vacuum line connects to it; while it's running.

  2. Well you could, but if you had both disconnected earlier(and it still ran bad), I don't see any reason to. Just make sure you actually had the front(before the cats) o2 sensors unplugged and not the rear. Did you check to see if your fuel pressure stayed up for a while after the vehicle is turned off or did it immediately go back to 0?

  3. If it was the fuel pressure, it would throw a lean code(pos. fuel trims), thus having to add more fuel. A rich code means negative fuel trims, meaning it's having to take away fuel, because something(o2 sensor) is telling it it's too rich. But yeah, I agree 40 psi is on the low side, should be about 55-60.

But..., you have an 03 and that means return style fuel system, so did you unhook the vacuum line off the regulator when you tested to get full pressure?

  4. With the front o2's disconnected it should have went into open loop, and ran fine, maybe slightly rich. The next step I would do is to switch the sensors from left to right and vice versa, clear the codes, and see if the code stays with the o2 or the left bank. If it ran WAY worse without the o2's it could be the maf sensor(dirty) as well.

  5. I'd start by replacing the driver side o2 sensor. Front one, NOT back. It's throwing a code for the back as well because of the difference between the two sensors not being in spec. I had the exact same problems when I crossed some wires wiring up an afr gauge once. But first to make sure it's the o2 sensor just get under there and unplug the two front ones and take it for a spin. BTW, what's happening is the o2 is stuck rich and telling the computer to lean out to the point it starts misfiring.

  6. Wow, something that makes vehicle run at stoich, been looking for something like that for a while. o2 sensors are just so overrated. greddy.gif On a more serious note it has been shown that iat resistor mods can increase timing by as much as 3 degrees, which COULD lead to some performance on a dyno (few hp, maybe). Back when I was stupid...er I purchased one of those things off ebay for 4 bucks. It turned out to be a 4.7k ohm resistor and when I plugged it in to the iat wires on the maf, it constantly reported 63 degrees intake air temps. I didn't notice anything...at all.

  7. If the cel comes on, the code should stay stored in the computer unless it doesn't happen for so many key cycles or you unhook the battery. Even if the cel goes back off, next time you start the vehicle. You really need to get that code, without hesitation someone here could tell you the problem, whether it's big or small. 150,000 on the stock 4l65 tranny in the ss is pretty good.

All that aside my experience has been, only having 3rd and being able to manual shift 2nd, is the limp mode for the 4l60 style trannies. And if it wasn't throwing a code I'd start by replacing shift solenoid A or the 1-2 shift solenoid.

  8. How many miles, did you just buy it? Brand new looking fluid in the tranny is a red flag when buying a used truck. Sometimes the seller will change the fluid and filter as a short term remedy to the problem with the tranny. Any codes? Could also be something as simple as a solenoid stuck or broken.
