  1. I spent years as a waiter/bartender at Chilis and at Bennigans. This is something that I feel very strongly about, i tip really well, probably more then most would deem reasonable. I just know how hectic it is as a waiter. What most dont understand is that it is like a battleground in the back of a restaurant, all the servers are pressing the cooks to get their orders out so that they can get the patrons their food as quickly as possible. I learned early on that being 100% honest, attentive but not annoying and keeping their beers coming was the key to big tips. And as far as the to go folks, they are probably the hardest working people there, that is why i always tip them. I guess since it is a to go order, they get put on the backburner so the little chick getting your meal correctly bagged and ready to go has to work her tail off to make sure it gets done and done right....by the time u get there. Be easy on them, but for the a-hole waiters, treat them like they treat you, nothing makes a waiter more mad than loose change being left as a tip, if they do horrible throw a bunch of nickels and dimes on the table!
  2. Better a zip tie than the polished horse ckoc you worked so hard on...
  3. Noooooo.FML...I was wondering what that ticking noise was
  4. The guy that does my tuning is doing it, he runs his own shop working on cars and trucks and does that kinda stuff everyday. Its funny, me and another friend were walking around picking up empty arp boxes and tallying the cost up, the dollar number got real high lol
  5. epoxy rectifier diodes, 3 amps 50PIV radio shack part 276-1141 8-lights aka God Lights... Thank you Diggerdan, worked like a charm. I just stuck with lows, drl, and fogs, works good, might get me in trouble lol
  6. 10-4, the picture kind of blurred the headlights....well that and i really need to get the haze off of them so that doesnt help. It was lows, drls and fogs. I only did the fogs and drls, gonna let it ride for a while....gonna pull the ol Judas Priest and be "breakin the law, breakin the law". If i get pulled over i will just tell them you made me do it.....lol j/k. I drive my truck so little i am not too worried about it. 10.9 mpg average cuz of how short the distances are that i drive lol
  7. I agree there is a ton of info out there. My understanding is we don't need nor should we want back-pressure. We want scavenging, which will increase our exhaust gas velocity, back-pressure would result in a loss of performance. I think there is a slightly misunderstood interpretation as to what people think they are referring to when they call it back-pressure. I think a loss in velocity has been called a lack of back pressure. Ideal situations, including regular passenger cars would follow the mantra that every vehicle would have its exhaust system sized proportionate to the amount of flow the motor could produce. Ever wondered why civics have such tiny exhaust, thats why, they have to decrease the size of pipe to allow for a faster flow which would promote better scavenging which in turn would help evacuate the spent gases in the cylinders. And as far as the air fuel charge, i believe (and even more so in larger cams) they actually benefit each other, the overlap in valve events actually help exhaust gases to leave the cylinder because of the negative pressure directly behind the exhaust valve caused by scavenging and the positive pressure of intake charge, you can load the cylinder with a denser intake charge and if the cam is specd for your specific exhaust and intake it works even better. This is what i have been told, as well as what i have researched. Summit racing has some seriously detailed information on this topic. I could be way off because i am not an exhaust expert, this is just a subject that i have been researching at great lengths here lately before i bite the bullet and start from the back of the truck and work my way forward. I want to make sure i get it just right. I really wanted to stay true dual 3" but i am finding it probably will hurt me because the diameter pipe may be too large and slow the velocity of my exhaust doen.
  8. Done and done. Man bending those diodes so that they will stay where they are supposed to was a PITA. Figured I would do fogs and drls with low beams. Looks awesome
  9. Larger primary higher torque peak smaller primary lower tourque peak right?
  10. Thank you dude! And it did help, think I am leaving the drop on the back burner. Too much goodies involved in hp
  11. Magnaflow on my wifes maxima drones like crazy, so does my father in laws dodge. Backpressure is a myth, all the major exhaust tests have proven that, your exhaust has to flow, it needs to be set up so the pulses help pull the next pulse along, if backpressure was needed then you would have to slow down your exhaust and scavenging would be the enemy. The x pipe is a good thing for aiding the scavenging process further down stream, i would rather mine be in the piping before the muffler, but extra scavenging proportional to flow required is always a good thingthe op is wanting to maintain a good flow for performance and the reason I mentioned that I like the vortex design is because it helps the drone with some baffling, perforations and packing. You are right that packing goes bad, but the design of the muffler is for performance minded people rhat dont want the drone and high dbs of some mufflers. I hope I dont sound like I am arguing, I have been checked on the backpressure thing before and it stuck. Plus take a look at the highest hp dragsters out there. Crazy hp, open headers tuned to the motor for ultimate scavenging
  12. It helps tremendously, just tired of this or that cam or this or that head combo convos with my buddies without having anything but half ass research to back it up. It is about time i found the right place with the right people to help me in the correct direction so i can inderstand why it is correct and hopefully one day be able to pass that info on... And yes danny lol, he was actually the first one to actually get to know me and help me understand what my goals for a N/A build would require, he is helping me out with the best budget friendly direction to go and still be done right. First time someone hasn't said just go fi and be done with it. I want a project not a weekend swap job, and he understood that. Plus a maggie would not help me understand how the stuff below it really works, and that is worth more than the hp to me. I dont like being ignorant about things, i have to put my hands on everything so i really see the forest for the trees. I'm a man, and thats what men do lol
  13. They are gonna do new lifters, pushrods and a non d-o-d cam and turn dod off in pcm so it doesnt happen again.
  14. The man! Bout to go get a few diodes now. Was watching the kids and had to wait for the wife to get back! Thank you bud
  15. Got word from the shop, it did drink some brake fluid, they could tell, but for some reason the displacement on demand screwed up and it has a broken lifter, not sure how or why.
  16. If i understand it correctly, 85 to 85 hdlp low to drl should do it
  17. My vmax before i pulled the 24s, they came with a brake delete feature. As you can see the brakes disappear when you install them
  18. Thank you man. Cajun country is funny, tint laws are 35%or less on fronts but i have been running 20% for years on mine and my wifes vehicle. Best I can say is I am careful, i have heard of people getting stopped for fogs, but if it does really happen it is probably from a cop on the rag at the time. I go to Texas all the time and still dont get bothered. Used to have 24s on my truck and if ever there was a time for some of our stereotyping smokies to pull me over it was then, but they still didnt. Its a crew cab truck in truck country so it doesnt really stand out too much. That picture should be a sticky for auto on fogs.
  19. Just remember, red will make your insurance premiums go up and you will get pulled over every five miles.
  20. I really like x pipes in the system, i was looking at cherry bomb vortex mufflers, they have a similiar x pattern in them, but they are hybrid mufflers. They are baffled, internally perforated, and packed, but if you look at a cutaway, they are damn near flow through like a glass-pack. Havent heard anything on here about them, but the guy on gearz said they flow like crazy. I want the corsa, but dont have the coin.
  21. Ok cool...yea 6 lights was what i meant by god lights lol. I saw it called that a long time ago on a different forum. When i do the fogs, i just have to make sure the line is on the fog light side of the relay and then i am good to go. Think i can handle that. I never use my brights anymore, when i put the drop shackles in, it tilted the low beams up a tad and i get good coverage, sometimes get flashed for my lows, plus the fogs really help. I dont think i am supposed to run them unless there is fog, but i have been doing it for years and never got pulled over. I just get tired of having to turn them on every time i get in. Thank you man
  22. I just wanted to take the time to say that I am extremely happy that I have joined this site. I have been treated very well and any questions I have had have been answered quickly and with understanding. I know it can be difficult for guys who have spent most of their lives perfecting their GearHead pursuits to have to backtrack to the fundamentals that they don't even hesitate on, but some of us really need that fundamental understanding. I feel like I have been treated with amazing patience and sound explanations from some of the guys that are way beyond the little expectations I have for my truck. I think that this site is an amazing asset for us guys that share a common denominator, whether it is an SSS (which i sadly do not own), a LQ9 powered ride (which I do own, VMax woopwoop), an LS motor, or just a passion for (to quote Mr. P) tailoring a truck to fit themselves perfectly. I haven't been on here long but I have already had some great discussions with some people that I now really look up to for their talent (thank you Danny). As a new member I wish to caution other new guys that are joining up, google, google, google. If you can save yourself and some of the senior members some time on simpler things then do it. I also suggest you read the threads, there are a ton and I have immersed myself in topics ranging from LED swaps to builds that I could never afford. Keep an eye on the build threads, just because you don't plan on building a 1/4 mile almost 3 ton demon, doesn't mean you may not find some of the little tricks and tips they find along the way that will help you out. I think the key for us new guys is to show respect to those that could make our lives so much easier. Ask questions, don't be mad if the answer isnt what you wanted to hear, and be ready with all the little details (this is a forum and they are not looking at the issue in front of them) the more details you have, the easier it is for them to help. Well that is my little spill, thank you guys! And for those senior guys that start to get frustrated, stick with us, there are still guys out here that truly value your knowledge! Brent
